I have been living in this area for the last 5 years Co-Op was better but now ASDA is also getting good.
Their Security Guard is an especially good guy he gives respect to everyone without discriminating against any race or gender.
One day I saw him chase the shop lifter I found him very brave he successfully got back most of the stolen easter eggs.
But shame on ASDA management that they did not give him any safety equipment no body cam no head set he is doing his best without safety tools

co op was better ! Fruit and veg in Asda better though. The staff are generally ok except for one rude more mature man who doesn’t even say please and Thankyou !! Not good customer service

Completely agree with the above reviews - bring back the Co op indeed! The store used to be so well run and managed and the lovely staff in there were always brilliant. Now no one replaces the baskets by the front door, the shelves are half empty and what’s there isn’t very good. The same staff are now rapidly fewer and look pretty downbeat - and the new staff look miserable and not on the ball. Queues are long - there was very rarely a queue before and always someone hopped on the till quickly if there was. But often it seems empty - I wonder if people now are by passing it like me - in favour of other options further down the high st. Not recommended.

Been using this shop for years.
Staff always very nice.
Although the manager shouted at me in car park once.
At first I was hoping when Asda took over, prices would be cheaper . But it’s the opposite prices have increased vastly .
I was shocked to find my cigarettes had gone up nearly £3 since The take over. Whilst other local shops have held prices down. With only a 50p increase in same time. And compared to the local Asda superstore there’s a huge difference in some prices between the two Waitrose is down the road and it’s cheaper On a lot off items . The only good thing in Asda is staff and petrol prices.

Initially, I was so happy to find out that Asda had taken over because I use the shop often and assumed it would now be much cheaper. However, if anything it is more expensive and the shelves are always empty. Additionally, staff numbers have been cut along with security on the doors.
After waiting 10 minutes to pay £1.10 for a can of coke, I noticed shoplifters were piling baby formula into their bags. Normally, I would have said something but I wasn’t going to put myself at risk or the young girl manning the floor on her own.
Visibly, working conditions are not great and I feel sorry for the staff that were TUPE over.

An absolute nonsense. I've lived here 12 years almost and loved having the co-op by me with the wide array of stock and pretty reasonable prices and delightful staff that knew me and my son by name.... When I heard Asda was taking over I thought ooo, I'll be able to request some things and the prices will be better... How is it the prices have increased, the range available is limited and the shelves are bare. I thought, let me wait until it's been a few months for the teething problems to be smoothed out but no...
It's like no discussion was had with the previous owners of what items would likely sell well. No point in making requests as head office just sends whatever they want from the staff on the ground. It's disheartening that what was my local go to is becoming my last choice. I'll go to Waitrose, Sainsburys and M&S now. . .

Quality is down.
Staff morale is down.
Community confidence and links are down.
Money saved - laughable.
Choice is down.
Service is down.

I don't know how you'll fix it. . .but 4 months in and instead of getting better, it's getting worse. . .

We had lemon muffins... They no longer stock them. We asked for hi juice and ginger ale. The random world foods they decided to stock... But do you know the community you're serving? It would have been nice to get questionnaires that asked what we would like stocked before they took over or even just after...leaflets and qr codes are easy enough. The self checkout machines still don't work. There is always a queue. Sometimes they couldn't find items on the tills and they wouldn't scan so they just said oh we can't serve you this come back tomorrow while we figure this out.

The only good thing they still got is the red grapes at a decent price... But I'm sick and tired. The hot food choices are diminished. The pastries are now heavily overpriced. The costa machine isn't always working. The lucozade flavours are just pants now. Everything that could suck... Now definitely sucks.

Really disappointed with this store. The shelves are always empty, there's always something up with the coffee machine, no lid today, it just adds to the frustration. Asda seem to be showing complete contempt for its customers, how about getting your act together! Bring back the Co-op!

Empty shelves and not enough staff. A terrible downgrade from how nice and well-run the shop was before. Bring back the Co-op!

Update: back in there yesterday and still only one till open. Huge queue of disgruntled customers.

Awful service.... one till open with ten-12 in the queue, petrol and shoppers, would not go to fuel up, and to be fair, shelves are hit and miss for stock. Bring back the service received when Co-op.
