The Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak has been established by an Act of the Parliament of India. It came into existence by the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University Act, 2007 and came into action on July 2008. The jurisdiction of the University extends to the whole country and it is fully funded by the Central Government through the University Grant Commission. The university caters to the tribals’ long cherished dream of higher education.

Media department is one of the best I have seen. It soon going to be one of the best with its premier infrastructural facilities. Five studios and viewing facilities, state of the art smart classrooms.

Any universities development is depending first on its leadership. Prof.Kattamani is a visionary and teacher and researcher. We can say he is the architect of the IGNTU in terms of maintaining quality of research, teaching and sustainable design of the university infrastructure.
We can say this is one of the environmental friendly university, who Is utilising solar energy, indigenous and tribal knowledge for growing trees, water harvesting and many more.

I am sure for anyone who is visiting is not just an academic exercise but also a rich cultural experience and excellence.

Good environment , education quality depend's on the department, placements available in only tourism department, but the fee structure is very low compared to other universities

The Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak has been established by an Act of the Parliament of India. It came into existence by the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University Act, 2007 and came into action on July 2008. The university caters to the tribals’ long cherished dream of higher education. Different from other universities, Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak will have its regional campuses in tribal-dominated states. These campuses will be in tribal areas so that tribal students can have easy access to higher education and promote themselves and their interests so that they can occupy a remarkable place in the mainstream of society. However, the university is open to all.
Indira Gandhi National Tribal University has established 12 Faculties and 30 Departments offering a wide range of subjects including Humanities & Philology, Social Sciences, Sciences, Earth Science, Linguistics, Tribal Studies, Commerce & Management, Education, Computronics, Vocational Studies and Mass Media & Journalism. The CENTRE FOR ENDANGERED LANGUAGES is a special centre established at University by the University Grants Commission to study endangered languages, tribal languages and other minority languages spoken in the state of Madhya Pradesh with a view to record, protect and promote them. Campus facilities include Central Library, Computer Centre, Hostel, Health Centre, Bank, Post Office, Gymnasiums, Play Ground, Amphitheatre, Auditorium etc. The campus is fully maintained and organised to represent the unique blend of vividly green eco-friendly ambiance with a fine flavor of tribal taste of Madhya Pradesh and a smooth touch of strong academics.

I have visited IGNTU this week. This is a new university. Very far from the nearest station Pendra Road. Few buses are available from Pendra Road to IGNTU. IGNTU is a Central University.
