Amazing caves and a great place to go on a rainy day. Took the full tour, definitely worth doing to see the white cave at the end. Worth noting that you aren't allowed to take photos past the main entrance cave and there was nowhere to buy photos at the end of the tour (it was winter and everything was closed, might be different in summer).

Great weekend experience exploring the history of the caves.

It was an amazing experience and the tour guide was in English. It was a two hour hike from beginning to end. The cave had some great scenery and the history was throughly explained.

A river that used to flow 200 meters below the surface of the earth in the distant past. Later, its water has gone down another 200 meters into the earth. During the flow of the river, the calcium carbonate in the water coagulates and condenses and forms various shaped figures and crystals are beautifully deposited on the top and bottom and both sides of the river. Definitely a place to visit at least once.

We did the “short tour” (50 minutes). The caves are fascinating and the guide did a good job providing descriptions. The caves are not that cold (to us) but definitely slippery (several folks slipped or biffed while on the tour). Recommend booking online at least one day prior (the tours can sell out). This also avoids dealing with the ticket line which may open only 15 minutes prior to the tour.

Just an extraordinary time spent in this grotto. Every corner and crack takes your breath away. Nature is wild and this place will give you a very special insight to what nature really is capable of. I am amazed and humbled by what I witnessed today. I brought my two kids with me - age 5 and 8. They loved it and thanks to our amazing English speaking tour guide: Mary, our kids felt like a big part of the tour. She kept them interested and bringing them along for a fantastic tour where their imagination were put into play.

This is a must do if you are in South East Italy ( Puglia) . The cave network is mind-blowing. I recommend the full itinerary. For the price of tickets it's fully worth it. Even small children can visit. Be mindful there are no bathroom breaks ( can be challenging with kids) . It's a guided tour available in English and Italian. Guides do a fantastic job by taking you back in time to 35 million years . On return you can take lifts from the first level. You'll enjoy this for sure. Video and photography is only allowed up to the 1St stage.

Amazing underground experience unless you are claustrophobic.
We took the English 3km walk tour to see the marvellous salty mountains, with 2 tour guides one front and one back, she explained very well and were both calm and understanding.
Must do experience, get water with you and very light jacket (not really cold rather humid).
It would be interesting for kids unless they get bored fast.

Great experience, beautiful caves, happy guide. I recommend complete 3 km tour. It could last longer, 100 min feels to short, sometimes we were "sprinting" through the beautiful corridors without time to really appreciate them.

Amazing experience! I couldn’t recommend it enough. We had an excellent tour guide and were educated on all of the ins and outs of the cave system. I’ll definitely re-visit here when I’m in the area again!

It appears to be a lovely place, to admire the caves, stalactites, stalagmites, other curiosities, but be cautious as it is slippery inside, w many narrow stairs. And the only bathroom is outside the entrance, for which u must pay 50 cents each time to enter.

Has to be one of the most impressive easy accessible caves systems in the world.
The 2 hour tour is recommended to appreciate the sheer magnificence and natural majesty. It's relatively fast paced but wholly worth it.
Be aware that photography is only permitted in the first two chambers.

Nicola and Mary were professional and informative. They were very patient and helpful to make sure I was able to enjoy the experience to highest degree despite my disability. It is very hard to find environmental tourist attractions rhat offer access to the handicapped. The venue had obviously went to great lengths, from the elevators, paved paths, accessible ramps, to the wonderful guides to make sure their beautiful caves could be enjoyed by all including those with mobility issues. This was by far the best experience I had in my wheelchair in Southern Italy. Many thanks again to Mary and Nicola for an amazing day

I would suggest checking their tour schedule. I arrived at 12.55pm to discover there was a 1hr tour in English at 1pm. I got a ticket, no problem, but you cannot just walk into the cave system without being on a tour.
Tour is informative and entertaining.
Walking through the caves on a paved surface with lighting, can be a little cold and the ground can be slippery.
Would recommend.

Awesome gigantic sunlit grotto. Last entrance at 16:00. You can enter in groups (0ne every hour).
Other grottos, linked by corridors all decorated by different rock shapes, develop along a 1.5 km itinerary. Should you think it too long or engaging, you may get out after 500m. The deepest point you can reach is at 72m below ground level
There is the purest rock creation, all white, a real marvel.
The lower you get, the warmer you feel, so dress up as the clever onion (different coats) so you can take off the surplus.

It had an amazing experience. I've been to Cheddar Gorge caves in England but this one is on another level altogether. The caves are 1.5 km long and the ceiling is 20-50m in most places. They have installed a "walk way" all the way and there are railings in many places. But still we need to be careful when walking. It's not allowed to take photographs from the second caves onwards (only the first cave is allowed) so any images you see on the internet does not do justice to this place. There are thousands of stalactites, stalagmites and columns, as well as shapes you've never seen before like cauliflowers, curtains, carrots, Piza tower and bacon! They assigned an English speaking guide to lead the journey and explain every step. They also assign a second person to "tail" the group to make sure that no one is left behind. When I went I was in a group of about 30 people. Credit to our tour guide who was fluent in English, French and Italian.

The Castellana Caves are famous in Italy for its unique rock formations and limestone features. Visitors can take guided tours of the caves, which range from an easy 1-hour route to a 90 to 120 minutes full version.
If you come by public transport, the train ticket will get you a discount. We end up paying 10 euro each for the full tour, with the discount. You need to show your train tickets for that.
The bus stop to and from the cave is within 5 minutes walk. You can either buy tickets at the train station or buy it online. The bus/train tickets are combined.
