Food was the real Italian experience. Delicious and simply unforgettable! Beautiful ambiance, which is a mix of historical and modern architecture. Beneath the restaurant are the labyrinths of about 300- 400m below ground level.

Probably the best service that we received during our week in Tuscany & Umbria.
The waiter was extremely friendly, fast and professional.

We ordered two dishes to share that were more than enough:
- Antipasto del Labirinto: Very good dish to taste the specialities of the region and the restaurant. Our favourites were the home-made grilled mortadella, the little toast of truffle and the eggplant coquette. 8/10
- Stinco di agnello (Leg of lamb): Very tasty and generous leg of lamb. The meat and the artichoke were fresh and tasty, a little bit cold for our taste but nothing important. The only problem we found was some of the roasted potatoes were burnt, this should not happen in the kitchen of one of the best restaurants in town. 8/10

Additionally we got:
- A little appetizer of cheese that was very very good.
- Biscuits at the end :) some sweet always makes everything better.

And probably one of the best things of the place is the visit to the caves. Amazing, impressive the restoration works that they had to carry out.
Besides the problem with some of the potatoes, our overall experience was very good.

We absolutely LOVED this restaurant. We arrived early to explore the cave that they have below the restaurant which was super interesting but then came the FOOD. Authentic Italian food that was absolutely phenomenal!! Everything was super fresh, tasty and the prices are very affordable. This has been my favorite restaurant in Italy. Definitely try the house Red Wine. Thank you so much!!!

Insanely cool labyrinth with endless passages and hidden corners. One of our favorite excursions on our trip to Orvieto. The food was also quite good, especially the gnocchi with wild boar. The gnocchi was so well done that it tasted like butter. Will definitely come back next time in the city.

A small, cozy restaurant, with friendly service, serving fantastic Umbrian food and great wine. The bonus - after dinner take the stairs down to the basement and check the museum .

We wandered by this restaurant earlier in the day and decided to come back for dinner. Our waiter Antonio was excellent - his broken English was good enough! The food was delicious, the grilled mortadella was as a nice appetizer, the ricotta gnocchi delicious, and the wild boar umbricelli (pici pasta) was to die for. And after dinner, we were able to take a tour of the underground labyrinth caves. Very cool.

We had e-mailed to set up a 10am tour. We showed up a few minutes early and we were given some espresso and cappuccino with biscotti while we waited. when we tried to pay for this later we were told not to worry about it which was very generous. We were then shown were the floor began caving in in the cafe and taken underground. The labyrinths kept going farther and farther! It was amazing to see all of the different layers in the stone as well as evidence of different centuries of people. There was decor added by an artist but done tastefully to add nice touches without taking away from the history. The tour took a half hour and we were not rushed at all, rather encouraged to take all of the pictures we wanted! I would highly recommend this tour as I found it very cheap for what was a private tour with my husband and myself!

Dined there on Sunday and my pig cheeks were exceptional, so I know it’s definately open..we finished with a tour of the labyrinth which was fascinating. Can highly recommend staff, food and experience.

Purchased entrance as part of the Orvieto Card. We didn't dine at the restaurant.

Make sure to download the sign information in English ahead of time from their website. There is no cellular service in the building, and the wifi did not work properly for me. Alternatively, use Google Lens (with Italian language downloaded for offline use) to translate photos of all the signs into your preferred language.

The size of the cave is surprising, and it is well-lit and easy to navigate with handrails.
There is one public entrance to the building, which is directly in the middle of the restaurant. If you go during peak lunch hours, and are only going for the underground visit, they may ask you to wait among the tables until someone comes with an iPad to scan your ticket barcode.

Food was really good. Tunnels underneath were great and a refreshing break from the hot sun. Would definitely come back here again and recommend to others.

While touring Orvieto, we came a cross a store owner from which we bought some products and after paying, I asked to please point us to a non-touristy, great home coooking style place. Away from the mob paths we found this little place that offered great food, great service and very nice ambiance. The whole thing is seated on top of an Etruscan and old Roman site, which you can explore at your leisure. This is a one to keep.

Everything was amazing. The Gnocchi, the tortelli and the umbrichelli were excellent. The tartare was good. The olive oil is freshly dated. The ambience is nice. There are caves that can be explored from inside the restaurant. This place has it all.

I loved how cold it was and the beauty in the details. I noticed faces scattered through out and children had a blast in the dwelling.

The food, the wine and the service are excellent. Their house wine is the perfect pairing for every dish. The food makes the best of local ingredients. I wish I could eat here every day. Every diner has the opportunity to tour their cellar.

this is an exquisite experience on many levels. The Chef and his wife and staff are truly delightful. Of course descending into the 250,000 year old Etruscan Cave, beautifully maintained, offers a unique experience. the quality of the food and the very reasonable price makes this a marvellous destination while in Orvieto. Thank you Maurizio and Alexandra and the entire staff. I shall encourage my Fonte Magia guests to not miss this destination !

We actually went to see the caves which is under their restaurant and came back to have lunch. Wow, we were surprised by the quality of dishes. Run by husband and wife, who speak English, we totally enjoyed our meals. Great fairly priced wine list and service couldn't be better. Go eat here and you will not be disappointed.

Wonderful food and good, friendly service. They understood food allergies which is a big plus! Having had lunch there, you get free entrance to the labyrinth which is a “must see”!”

The best meal we have had in our week in Umbria and Tuscany. My highly recommended stop in Orvieto, don't miss it.
We started with the Appetizer of the Labyrinth, an amazing array of appetizers, local meats, and pickled vegetables. Delicious.
For our entrees; the Umbrian pasta, what many restaurants seen to refer to as strangozzi, was thick and perfectly prepared with black truffle (tortufa) creme sauce. The tortelli stuffed with ricotta and served with pumpkin sauce, served with cubes of cooked pumpkin and crispy bacon was amazingly delicious.
Of course, tiramisu for dessert.
Don't forget to check out the labyrinth below the restaurant. It's for customers only.
