Hotel Lago

We stayed at Hotel Lago for the first few nights of our honeymoon in Italy and WOW, what a gorgeous spot! Exactly like the photos show. Spacious, CLEAN rooms with a spectacular view of the lake. This is a family run hotel and it really shows. Sofia, Roberto, and the entire staff were so accommodating and friendly. Being that this was our first stop, I had exchanged multiple emails with Sofia before our trip. She was so helpful in arranging our transport from the airport, booking our boat tour of Lake Como through the hotel, and making some food recommendations and reservations for us-- and answering all of my many questions!!

Breakfast was delicious and there was plenty to choose from. Location was also great - it was easy to walk down the main road to the "town square" area and easy to catch the bus down into Como, as the bus stop is right outside of the hotel.

Would definitely recommend Hotel Lago to anyone traveling to the Lake Como area.

Small, family-run boutique hotel in a prime Torno location overlooking Lake Como (so glad we decided not to stay in Como!). The view from the room was spectacular. We spent a good bit of time sitting out on the balcony reading, and enjoying the view. Or, you could just enjoy the view from the bed.
The staff at the hotel was friendly and treated us like family (a special "shout out" to Annette who we enjoyed a lot of laughs and experiences with - hope the hotel recognizes this "gem").
We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast each morning in the hotel, which had a large assortment to choose from. We also had dinner every night (3 nights) at the hotel, because the food was absolutely spectacular! No need to venture elsewhere.
The hotel was a few minutes walk from the rest of Torno and had a walking path that ran right behind the hotel. The front desk staff also had maps of the area and were able to guide us around the area with helpful suggestions.
All of us absolutely loved this hotel and would highly recommend anyone to stay at this hotel!

Spent a few days at Hotel Lago and couldn’t be any happier with our choice of this hotel. The view from the room was spectacular. The room itself was very modern with a minibar and a beautiful bathroom/shower.

It wasn’t the location, room, or view that made this the highlight of our trip. Rather, it was the exceptional service that Roberto and the team gave us. I wish I could give the service 6 stars, because it was always on time and we could have no complaints about it. Room cleanings were on time, and Roberto (the owner) would not hesitate to drive an 1 hour+ to drive us to and back our tour destinations. If you want to feel like you are staying with family, this is the place to be! From helping us find train times and driving us into town, to setting up a table on the restaurants balcony (even though it was closed), the owner and everyone who works here made sure our first time in Lake Como was nothing but amazing. To add to the already incredible experience, the included breakfast had some of the best pastries/cookies from our trip around Italy! I could not recommend this place enough.

We were attending a wedding on Lake Como, Italy and stayed for eight days at The Hotel Lago in Torno. I can't say enough about how wonderful our stay was at Hotel Lago. The owner, Roberto, was the perfect host. Also Sofia and the rest of the staff were very attentive and accommodating. We had a great time while enjoying a beautiful view of Lake Como. We highly recommend this boutique hotel for your stay. Thank you very much Roberto and staff.

Excellent hotel. Brand new. You don’t usually get rooms like this in Europe. Spacious, and one of the best showers I have had in my life! The owner and his family are on site and work hard. The staff are exceptional, warm, and polite. They want you there.

Beautiful views and breakfast.

Getting in and out of como and surrounding scenic towns can be tough. The province needs to add more buses and transportation to accommodate tourists - other wise buses on weekends are full and if you miss one, you will have to wait an hour for the next one or pay for cabs. However there are no cab or taxi services to call like most tourist locales around the world.

Stayed 3 nights at beautiful Hotel Lago with my family. I have never been so cared for by any hotel. Every need and want we had was addressed, and it was a lovely time.

Pros:
-Gorgeous panoramic views of Lake Como from bed
-wonderfully appointed rooms. They are very big and can sleep 2 on large sofa sleeper in addition to the king bed facing the lake. Bed was very comfortable and the linens were exceptional. 5* quality.
-extremely attentive staff
-great breakfast selection (fresh fruit, pastries, ham, cereal, cheeses, etc).
-right near bus stop
-perfect if you want to sit/lay in bed with a view of the lake. (This is what my husband likes to do and he didn’t want to leave.)

Cons:
-Little to do in immediate vicinity of hotel. Torno center is a 10 minute walk. It doesn’t have as much to do as some other towns so we spent time elsewhere (Bellagio, Villas, etc.)
-you have to rely on public transit to get anywhere (unless you pay for the hotel van services, which are great). The bus comes often but the ferry is harder to plan. We took a ferry across to Moltrasio and then switched onto an express (Ferry 18, with a bar) to Villa Carlotta.
-Limited opportunity for outdoor enjoyment out of room (no sundeck or outdoor seating space other than dining area)

Amazing hotel with incredible service. The owner, roberto is very hands on. Him and his staff are super helpful. Roberto was so kind to always drive us where ever we needed to go. Thr hotel food is delicious and the rooms are super nice and clean. This hotel is a must stay at!!

Hotel Lago is a rare find and exceeded our expectations! We started with a transfer from the train station in Como. Roberto, was there and took care of us until he dropped us back at the train station. The hotel is small but perfect. The beds are facing floor to ceiling windows that over look the lake. Breakfast and dinner were great at the hotel. Roberto recommended a boat tour and restaurant in Bellagio and both were excellent. Great hotel in the middle of a beautiful lake.

Roberto and the staff at hotel lago were amazing and exceeded our expectations, it was like staying in their home. They were so helpful when navigating through town and planning day trips. Highly recommend for a hotel on Lake Como with great views.

Hotel Lago very much exceeded our expectations! We started off our Italian honeymoon in Lake Como & we couldn’t have had a better start! We requested a transfer from the MXP airport upon our arrival & were pleased to find out that our driver, Roberto, was the owner. The whole hotel and staff made it seem as if you were staying in their own home. The rooms were spacious & clean with beautiful views! The dinner & the continental breakfast were delicious, I looked forward to it every day. We will definitely recommend & would love to visit again!

We had a fabulous 3-night stay at Hotel Lago and absolutely recommend this hotel to others!

The hotel is new (built just 4 years ago) and is incredibly modern, clean, and luxurious. Our room had a beautiful view and was very comfortable.

The hotel staff, including the owner himself, were sooo helpful with arranging transfers and providing recommendations. The server in the dining room, Annette, was so so sweet and it was a pleasure having her greet us every morning for breakfast.

A note to others: The main road, Via Cesare Poggi, is unsafe to walk on. However, there are small neighborhood roads behind the hotel that take about 15 minutes to walk to town. It is best to schedule a taxi or shuttle with the hotel to get to and from Como with luggage.

A wonderful boutique hotel that has it all! Beautiful views, comfortable bed/bedding/pillows/robes. Rooms are very well designed and comfortable
The owner and staff are very kind and accommodating. They arranged last minute a driver to get us to/from Bellagio, which has narrow winding roads along lake Como. The driver was excellent and helped us to enjoy our last night of an amazing 10 day visit!
I highly recommend you stay here, you will not be disappointed.

Hotel Lago is absolutely incredible. Everything about staying here was special. The view of Lake Como from the room was perfect. The free breakfast was delicious and dinner/apertifs at the restaurant was extremely tasty. Roberto, Olga, and Silvia, and everyone there were so kind and super helpful, especially for first time travelers. Torno is also very conveniently located on the lake and not far at all from Como. Thank you for the fantastic stay.

This family-managed hotel was a pure positive surprise! It is a small, cozy, very modern, clean and beautiful hotel located directly in front of lake Como with stunning view from the rooms. We really enjoyed our stay. The room was equipped with everything we needed and more. It was super clean. I must say that in reality the hotel looks and feels much better than presented online.

But what we have appreciated very much was a great service: welcoming, serving in a restaurant, cleaning, all was at a very high level! We felt ourselves as very valuable guests. The fact that the family is managing all activities brings charm and coziness to the hotel.

And of course, quality of food - it was amazing! Both breakfast and dinner were at a very high level, probably the best we had during our stay in Como region.
So all in all, we will definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family and will be happy to come back ourselves again!
