Sicily Bike Routes

My husband and I have just finished an absolutely amazing bike tour . Raffaele arranged everything to perfection and checked in on us everyday. The bikes were in perfect condition the routes wonderful and every hotel was a little gem to enjoy in the wonderful Sicilian towns.

A self guided tour of the south east of Sicily...really good support team, wonderful itineraries, excellent boutique hotels, rental bikes very decent. Overall it was a great trip.

Raffaele was super kind and helpful, making sure we had any and all equipment necessary to have a good ride. Everything was easy and uncomplicated. We rented two carbon bikes (multiple other types available too) with v-brakes and flat pedals, helmets, and Raffaele made sure we had saddle bags with a pump and all equipment to change a tyre. It was also possible to borrow locks and water bottles but we didn't need them. Raffaele also proposed multiple routes we could take. We're used to riding carbon bikes back home, and the two that we got here were absolutely perfect for the kind of conditions and ride we faced. We spent 6 hours out / 100 km and absolutely loved exploring the area by bike, and stayed comfortable. We also met other bikers on the way and exchanged good ideas. The best bike ride I’ve ever been on. Raffaele and his family provide an amazing experience with personalized crafted routes and professional bikes. They even had an electric one for my friend. The ride took us through the rolling Sicilian hills and beach side towns. We made sure to take a dip and grab lunch in the middle of our ride. The end took us atop Scicli which offered one of the best vistas one can see in the area. I can’t wait to come back for another ride.

He delivered the bike to my airbnb and was completely flexible around my timings. The bike I reserved was fantastic, full carbon with disc breaks, ultegra group-set and Vision wheels, I did 215km in the few days I had the bike and it performed really superb, especially in the longer sustained ascents.
Sicily really is a road biking heaven, having a flexible, efficient and quality service from Raffaele allowed me to enjoy it to the fullest.

My husband and I rented ebikes from Sicily Bike Tours for several days. Raffaele guided us on two fantastic rides (especially the ride through Modica!) and delivered the bikes to our apartment in Ragusa for other self-guided rides. We enjoyed spending time with Raffaele who knows the history and so much information about the area, and of course the best gelaterias along the way! He led us through quiet, beautiful roads and went out of his way to make sure we had a perfect time. The bikes were new and comfortable with strong batteries (it can be hilly!). We were welcomed at his office for a holiday get together where we tasted delicious local recipes prepared by his mom. I can't recommend it enough. Thanks Raffaele for such a wonderful time!

As a former Cycling Guide for a US company, I have now been fortunate enough to cycle in every Province in Italy! This summer, 8 friends joined us on a 15 day tour of Sicily. We booked through Bike Tours Sardinia, who has a close relationship with Sicily Bike Routes. They worked together to provide us with exactly the perfect tour! Based on our requests, they customized the routing and lay over days in specific cities, providing amazing hotels and routing. Did I mention the FANTASTIC Sicilian cuisine!!! The routing clearly demonstrated that "Locals" created the rides, based upon their personal experience from living there. We seldom were on any road wider than a country road, cruising between ancient dry stacked rock walls and occasionally spotting a WWII German pillbox still commanding a view of the oceanfront approaches. When one of our riders broke the carbon crank on their personal bike, Raffaele Pluchino the owner of Sicily Bike Routes immediately supplied a rental bike and assisted in acquiring a replacement crank which had to be delivered. Post tour, we rented an agritourismo (Villa) for a month. On a weekly basis, we swapped out friends and family and each week we wanted a local cook to come and provide classes and dinner. Raffaele, through Sicily Bike Routes, provided us with the best cook he knew, his mother! Giovanna has her own catering and event planning business. Weekly she came to the Villa, with two associates and the provided cooking classes, 4 course meals and everything was cooked as if she were serving you dinner at her house. A translator was also provided.

I cannot recommend this company highly enough! Give them a try and you will not be disappointed.

Our family of 6 did two days of cycling on e-bikes, with Rafaelle being our guide. The bikes were well maintained and Rafaelle was an excellent guide, and easy to communicate with. All the members of our family had time to chat with him, and there was an instant connection. On the first night after the ride we had some drinks and appetizers, fresh from the farm. The second night we participated in mama's culinary adventure, which was fabulous.

Simply WOW. We have had many Italian cycling trips over the last years. Our custom itinerary that they put together was simply amazing. Every stay and routes met and surpassed our expectations. Rafaelle, Claudio and Sara are the most kind people you can ever meet. 5 STARS cannot express how much this trip was great. Cannot wait for our next cycling event. Ciao.

Wonderful experience! Six of us participated in a 2-hour bike ride with two tour guides around the wine region, which ended up being approximately 14 miles because they were able to accommodate our ask of taking us to the nature reserve close by. They were patient, kind, and even gave us a history lesson of the surrounding area! Highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting the area! Just lovely.

An amazing experience touring the Sicilian countryside. High quality bicycles and equipment, along with expert guidance from the professional staff made our outing a pleasure. Initial trip planning and coordination was easy including good communication and flexibility.

We started with a leisurely ride and then a break at the beach, followed by a more challenging ride back for those who wanted it. Multiple guides plus a support van meet the high needs of our large group (13 riders). The wide range of skills were accommodated successfully.

The owners took time the day before to sit down and discuss details for our trip as well as explain the option of a farm fresh meal served at the end of our ride.

Incredible experience and ride of a lifetime. Rafelle and his family are wonderful. The routes around his house have beautiful views of the sea and the countryside, beautiful terrain with hills and turns to fit the level of every cyclist. Make sure to ask him for the marmalade of the Giarratana Onion with raisins to bring back from his farm. Have visited two summers in a row for both guided and self tour.

Raffaele was super communicative and organised to get the bike to my villa. I hired one of his top end carbon road bikes which was provided in good working order. I also spoke to Raffaele about wider trips in Sicily and his trusted network was very useful allowing us to book exactly the experience we wanted for visiting Etna with a guide especially setup for your families. Highly recommend.

My husband and I took a private tour with Raffaele and Pepe and it was a wonderful experience. Raffaele was well organized and very responsive to all of our questions. All of the places we biked were really beautiful and the routes were low traffic. Their expertise and knowledge of Sicily really made our experience wonderful. One of our favorite things was the ricotta tasting - it was really some of the best ricotta we have every had!

Raffaele is the nicest guy ever ! We had a small incident even before our bike tour happened, when Raffaele went out of his way to pick us up.
The bike tour was postponed but he took care to get us some first help, brought us to the hospital, and made sure we were taken care of.
Seeing how nice the Scicli area and Raffaele are, I'm sure the bike tours are amazing!

Raffaele was a great guide for 2 days of cycling in the Noto area. We biked on lovely rural roads with great bikes. We are in our 60's and appreciated the electric assist bikes with all the hills in the area - made it a totally enjoyable ride. Beautiful routes along the coast and along almond, olive and carob orchards. Highlights were his extensive knowledge about the people, geography, culture and food as well as a stop at a cheese making farm to watch farmers make Ragusa and Mozzarella cheese and eat a wonderful lunch with local wine under the olive trees.

We rented bikes from Sicily Bike Experience for four days and had the best experience biking from Modica to Siracusa. So beautiful, very nice bikes and the most service minded and friendly owner of the shop. We had the bikes delivered and fetched at our hotels. Thanks a lot for a great vacation experience Raffaele!

Awesome day of cycling around rural southern Sicily. We opted for the cheese themed adventure which was perfect for us. We stopped at a farm to see how the cheese was made and returned later to taste it all for lunch. Amazing. The ride itself was also great. The countryside is gorgeous and we even stopped at an old abandoned farmhouse which was fascinating. Highly recommended.
