Ùmmara - vineria con cucina

tl;dr - Ùmmara is a local gem of Sicilian food and wine. Did I mention the wine? Service was prompt and friendly. Top notch and we'll priced. I wish we had stayed in Sicily longer so that we could eat here again!

[Intro] We went to Ùmmara after a recommendation of Marica, our host at the winery of Arianna Occhipinti. After a friendly and tasty tour, we made reservations that same day. We were lucky to have done so!

[The Food]
Ùmmara was amazing, serving delicious Sicilian cuisine that rivaled much pricier fare in Modica and elsewhere. My husband and I recommend literally verything on the menu (we had one of every Vegetarisn dish). Make sure to get the Caponata Sciciliana, which had the most amazing flavors of umami. My husband, who usually does not enjoy eggplant, fell in love with the dish. And for dessert, the "Frittella con Ricotta di Capri" (a thin, light donut with goat ricotta, cinnamon, lemon peel/juice and Passito di Pante), it was delightful!

The entire meal was incredibly tasty! Best meal we had over our week long trip across the eastern and southern coast.

[The Wine]
WOWWWW is all I have it say. Local wines you can't find anywhere else. We even added a few to Vivino (5/5 stars), as the local producers only bottle a few hundred vintages each. Don't pick your wine, ask the sommelier to find something that resonates. We had two lighter reds, both knocked our socks off. You'll never want to leave.

[Summary]
We'll definitely come back if we visit Sicily again and, if possible, visit the local wineries from which they procure their collection. The team here serves a master class in dining - unpretentious, fantastic flavors and expertly paired natural wines in a lovely setting. I'm so glad to have ended our Sicilian tour this way!

Located at a beautiful spot in one of the most pretty cities in Sicily, Ummara has everything a good restaurant needs: Good food, good wines, good service, good atmosphere.
Although the water was tasty, I would prefer a water served in a glas bottle. I would also avoid any one way product, as for an instance the table set made out of paper, and go more sustainable.

What a wonderful idea to present local specialities in small pieces and they were top prepared. Sllced marinated veal tongue on a salad with potatoes, carrots, peas in mayonnaise - my favorite dish.
And the wine list ... including Champagne and sparkling local ones - top.

Had an unexpectedly great time at Ummara. The food was great, and the outside seating has great views.

Excellent cozy and friendly restaurant with lovely food, great wine selection and pleasant vibes. I can't express how happy I was with this dining experience. Everything was so simple but unique. You will not order anything wrong. The service was perfect. If you are around Scicli, this place is a must-visit.

Absolutely the most delicious restaurant in Scicli. Excellent wine with passionate owner who explains them all and refined chef with great simple and innovative dishes.

Great food & friendly knowledgeable service. We had the polpettine and caponata, and then the gnocchi and a special of red tuna. It was all amazing, and the wine suggestions were great too. Even the olive oil was brilliant. They spoke pretty good English and had a good selection of gluten free choices. Definitely recommended.

If you want to try something fresh that won’t bore you, perhaps something different but still local and authentic, you must pay a visit to Ummara! The food is great, the size of the portions allows you to try a bit of everything!

The staff is very friendly and professional. Pietro explained us the whole menu and made few recommendations and Remo did a great job at wine matching and guessing what we liked!

You must try the Millefoglie cake!

When you feel like home. That s it. Nice people, perfect wine pairing with a food made from a young chef. Keep on.

We was here about three weeks ago, and we tasted defile starters. Everything was so good from raw fish to the cooked one. Today we eat iberian pork hamburger and was wonderful and well done!!! I suggest this restaurant both for fish and meat meals!!

Delicious, inventive local food cooked by an excellent chef. This is a wine bar too so there is a wide choice of local wines including organic and biodynamique. Attentive, caring service too.

Lovely place located just in the "b-side" area of Scicli. Location is amazing. they have a good selection of sicilian wine and food was so tasting.

Lovely, Scicilian small plates with a fabulous bottle of wine. All recommended by the friendly team and thoroughly enjoyable.

Scicli is a beautiful little town, and Ummara is located in its most beautiful neighborhood. If you want to try good fish in a cozy little place in a typical Sicilian landscape, this is the right place for you.

Great cuisine mixed with traditional Sicilian dishes l, I will go back to try more specialities

I recommend beef entrecote, unbelieveably delicious. We had really good red wine, from Vittoria. Staff was really nice.
