Villa Gelsomino Exclusive House

The most amazing stay!!! Do not hesitate to book - this was the most amazing stay we had in Italy. Unbeatable views of the bay of Santa Marguerita Ligure, and a historical location with beautiful frescoes in every room. Our group rented out the entire villa and had such a fun time enjoying all the spaces. The backyard area has a hot tub too! And the front garden area includes a bee section where the staff prepare honey for your breakfast. Truly a special place and I would highly recommend!

Tip - there’s pretty steep stairs to get to the villa from the train station if you’re looking on google maps, however there’s actually multiple paths to get there via other roads/side streets that aren’t as steep!

My wife and I had the most incredible experience at this beautiful villa during our wedding. Location is minutes walk to the train station, shops, restaurants.

The villa has breathtaking views of the whole town of SML, clean, spacious and stunning rooms, a beautiful garden area and even jacuzzi. The staff was very accommodating and gracious with all of our specific needs, even when we had our entire bridal party over for photos and pre wedding preparation. We also had to order certain items from Amazon for storage at one point and they were very accommodating of these needs.

Thank you to the excellent team for their 5 star service that made our wedding weekend memorable. We would definitely stay here again!

Very nice experience at the Villa Gelsomino. Few steps away from the harbour and the station. Looots of charm... beautiful ceiling paintings from 19th century. Great breakfast and service. Felt like home !! I want to come back :-)

Our stay here was truly wonderful. The room was beautiful with original flooring and murals on the roof. It was especially clean and cool. They treated us with breakfast which was delicious. They also offered lots of homemade goods and they were extremely kind. I can’t recommend enough! It was my favorite room that we booked out of the Dolomites, Rome and Venice.

A one of a kind stay. Truly incredible. The views are stunning, though the hotel itself is quite the contender for the most beautiful sight. The staff are absolutely wonderful and they made our stay easy and thoroughly enjoyable — and don’t forget about the delicious breakfast! I can’t wait to return to Villa Gelsomino!

Absolutely stunning property. Highly recommend if you are going to visit Portofino and surrounding towns. We fell in love with Santa Margherita and the entire area. The breakfast included was incredible. The rooms were huge and had extremely high ceilings and a separate living space. The staff was absolutely wonderful and extremely helpful.
The grounds were stunning. The property was within easy walking distance to the train. The had a scooter to rent that two could easily fit on, to explore the area for easy transportation. 1000/10. Would go back again and will recommend to all of my friends and family!

We had a very lovely and great experience. From the start we received a welcoming message like 3 days before confirming our stay and a page for a quick check-in, they also have catering services such as what are some things you want to add to your stay. I got the electric scooter which made our experience so flexible to go and visit around. The room is impeccable, high ceilings, with lots of room. The location is great for people coming on train or leaving, it is just one block away. Their hospitality is 11/10, great hospitality. From the breakfast to cleaning rooms. Maya was very welcoming and Barbara was very helpful as well. We greatly appreciate your kindness. Santa Margherita is a great and lovely place to stay, it has a street where you can find all sorts of restaurants and cool looking people :). Portofino is only 10 min away (scooter) which I recommend using. Thank you so much for everything, see you again soon!

My wife and I spent over a month traveling through all Italy and this hotel was one of the highlights. Opening the door to our bedroom was breathtaking, I’ll never forget it, and the staff has done an amazing job maintaining this place! Lastly the breakfast in the terrace overlooking the bay was gorgeous; thank you! I will recommend Villa Gelsomino to everyone I know!

What an amazing experience. The rooms are spacious and gave us a feeling that we are staying in a palace. Our suite was facing the bay of SML and gave us a prime view of beautiful sunsets and sunrises.

We picked the Villa as a base to explore Portofino and Cinque Terre. The villa is 5-7 min away from the train station and 1 hour away ( walking the scenic route) from Portofino.

Overall great experience and would highly recommend.

We had an incredible time whilst staying at the property. The property itself is beyond breathtaking, the views and architecture are beautiful. The room in which we stayed was amazing, we were so incredibly happy it had completely exceeded our expectations. The staff are so lovely, they looked after us so well and were genuinely so attentive. The location is perfect, close enough to everything but tucked away enough to enjoy relaxed evenings on the balcony. I would highly recommend staying here if you want a slice of heaven.

Location was convenient and walkable. Breakfast was delicious, fresh and made to order. Staff went above and beyond to make our trip special. Truly one of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed in!

The staff at Villa Gelsomino were very friendly and helpful prior to and throughout our stay. The entire 150-year-old villa was beautiful and classy, and our room was very clean and spacious, with a nice balcony and view as well. We were able to have dinner out on the terrace and have breakfast on our balcony (the breakfast room service was provided at not additional cost, as a gift for our honeymoon). They also provided a small bouquet of flowers in the room to celebrate our honeymoon. They helped arrange a free taxi transfer from the train station to hotel. We only wish that we had had more time to stay there, as one night did not allow us enough time to enjoy the yard and the close proximity to the beach.

Wow! Our first trip to Italy started with Santa Margherita Ligure, and this lovely villa. The service provided here was absolutely amazing! We stayed in the Cinque Terre suite enjoying wine and snacks on our balcony, with a beautiful view of the sea. Everything was perfect - the days started with a yummy outdoor breakfast and only got better from there. The villa is beautiful with tall ceilings and lovely frescoes, the rooms are spacious, and we enjoyed walking in the immaculate gardens on the property.

The service provided by the hosts was among the best we’ve ever experienced. They answered all our questions, including providing wonderful restaurant recommendations and regional wine selections. We felt welcome each time we returned from an outing, always being asked if we needed anything. While all of our hosts shined, Georgia shined the brightest and we thank you, Georgia, for starting our Italy vacation perfectly!

We would absolutely stay here again and hope to in the not so distant future!

Villa Gelsomino is a fantastic place to stay near Portofino. Service is excellent! Cozy evenings at a patio was memorable Rooms decorated with authentic furniture, and a lot of details that make mood and atmosphere. We spent several days and it was one of the best trips to Italy we made!

Our experience at this villa was amazing. We arrived at the villa to have our wedding ceremony. The girls took into account all my wishes and fulfilled everything that I asked them, the ceremony and our celebration went great. The staff was very attentive to even the smallest details. The Villa's rooms are magnificent and ideal for bridal gatherings. In the garden there is a chic gazebo that is ideal for the ceremony. At my request, it was additionally decorated with flowers and candles. The huge hall of the villa, the furniture, the paintings, the breathtaking view - all this made the most beautiful wedding photo session. They brought us champagne and fruit to our room, which was very nice. Upon request, breakfast can be ordered to the room balcony and you can enjoy morning coffee with a gorgeous view of the city and the sea. Our gala dinner was also held in the villa where the perfect romantic table was set up for us, decorated with flowers and candles, all the food was great. Besides, in the yard there is a Jacuzzi where you can retire! A big plus is that the villa is located near the train station, as well as within walking distance of the city center and numerous beaches. Theres nothing negative i can mention, everything was just magical and we will definitely return to this amazing place. Thanks a lot Maya, Barbara and Giorgia. They do their job with love and in the best way.

A beautiful villa and location! Lots of privacy and you’re living in a beautiful suite with space and nice accommodations. It is clean and they serve you a beautiful breakfast to order every morning included in the price with a view that makes you feel like aristocracy. The staff make everyone feel like they are a VIP. If you are fit enough the walk into town up and down a path is close enough to be very convenient to town and beach access, and you can work off that pasta and gelato walking back up to the villa. Otherwise, it is a quick taxi ride. We would like to come back some day and it was hard to leave. Bravissimo to Villa Gelsomino Exclusive House and the wonderful staff that hosted us! 😊

Lovely family run hotel. Staff were so welcoming and helpful. Beautiful large room , amazing views and incredible breakfast. Only disappointing thing was we only got to spend one night instead of two as our flight got changed
