Challenging to get there but totally worth the effort. We had a really nice evening at this lovely restaurant. The service is very welcoming and attentive. The menu might seem to be a bit expensive, but it includes everything and you won't pay any extras. The wine served with the dinner was great and in a generous amount, the food was very local, so no pasta, obviously no pizza and it's based on the local fish. We had a lovely evening and had a great experience.

My Italian friend took me to this restaurant, that how I knew it. It s very mystery and u have to walk for 10 mins through the small alleys to find it, however it s really worth when u arrive, because you will get the best view, the best garden, the best food, and of course the best service as well. I couldn’t be happier to have a chance to experience this place, and genuinely recommend everyone come and try, even local people. In my opinion, this is one
of the most wonderful restaurant in Italy.

This is one of the most unique restaurants I’ve ever been at!!! You have to walk a bit through a small town to get to it, but it’s well worth it!! The service, food and atmosphere is amazing!!! It’s a must try if your in the area!

Best restaurant within the radius of 100km. You get a very good value 5 course local fish treat. The wine suggestion was spot on.
You can have access by boat or road. But please try the road because it was exceptionally beautiful. The owner was super friendly, he gave us a list of must-visit places. We didn’t have time to finish all of them but his advices were very good. So thank you if you are reading this review 🙏

This restaurant is the only business in all of Careno, where we stayed for a week of our honeymoon. If you arrive in Careno by bus, just follow the main street alllll the way down to the water (300 steps). If you arrive by boat, you end up right at the restaurant. They serve the same five course meal every night (and same wine), with plenty of lake fish on the menu. They've perfected their dishes and are proud to serve them to you at just the right pace for you to savor and enjoy. This restaurant is a special place...make sure to get a reservation ahead of time!

Amazing place with a great view! The staff is very nice and helpful. The menu is fixed and takes you through a number of carefully prepared dishes, all with fresh fish from the lake. It is very well balanced, both in regards to taste and in regards to quantity. As a bonus, don't drive there, their wine and limoncello are great.

If you travel to Lake Como it's definitely an experience worth checking out at least once. Make sure to call and make a reservation in advance, as some days it can get pretty easily crowded.

A real gem! Small place, hidden away on the shores of the lake, with exceptionally delicious food and really loving and charismatic staff! So far, the best culinary experience in Italy. Their menu takes you on the story of fishing on this location and a delight for the senses! Worth the drive from Milan, on the windy steets of the “local” side of Como lake. 🥰

From our week-long visit around Como, this was our favorite culinary experience. The food is made with local historical intent and integrity, and was skillfully presented to us by the fantastically attentive, generous and skilled waiters.

Cute local restaurant where you get a set menu with local specialties for €40. The food was incredible, the service very friendly, and the view of the lake absolutely perfect. Highly recommended.

We had a memorable evening at this lakeside trattoria. We enjoyed delicious lake fish and local dishes, including thoughtful alternatives for a vegetarian.

Had one of the best meals we've had here in Italy! Very authentic Italian meal using fresh fish from the lake. From the wine to dessert it was all delicious! The service was phenomenal, extremely friendly & professional. Definitely the best service we've had in Italy. The setting is also beautiful with a view over the lake. If you're looking for an authentic Italian experience (unlike the overpriced & touristy restaurants at Como) make sure you visit Trattoria del Porto! You can drive or catch the bus or the ferry to Careno (the restaurant is literally next to the ferry terminal).

A hidden gem! If you're in the area, make time to stop by for the warm hospitality, a tasty meal, and the lovely view. They have parking on the main road - look for a sign with the name of the restaurant and call ahead to get the code for the chain "fence"

Giovanni was the perfect host and the locally sourced food was wonderfully varied.Nice and quiet lunch with lovely lakeside situation. Wow, what a find on our last day of our 1 week stay in Nesso.
Sat in the family garden after. Lovely.
You can walk from Nesso as most way has pavements, but we dove 3/4, parked side of road and walked last 200m.... then down a few steps to the pier location in Cerena. 100% recommended... and reasonable prices too! I think Giovanni has some parking reserved for customers as well but we didn't need this. 10/10.

An absolute hidden gem. Impeccable service, delicious local food and paired with excellent wine. The adventure of walking through tiny cobbled alleyways to reach the restaurant at the lake’s edge only added to the experience.

Great food, the food you get for the money you pay is extremely uncommon.
They made sure we felt at home and the food was outstanding.

Hands down one of the best dining experiences and best hospitality Italy has to offer.
Called on the ferry over and made a reservation, we landed at 6.15pm and restaurant opens at 7.30pm
The chap helping with the gangplank clocks us and he's also the restaurant owners, he guides us to their private garden over looking lake COMO, 3 mins later he's brought a bottle of prosecco down with two glasses to keep us going until the restaurant opens.
10 mins before opening we wander up to the restaurant and he comes out with the keys for the 14th century church opposite and tells us to go take a look
ALL THIS before the meal has started which moving onto the food was exceptional, the local ingredients and simplicity of the menu combined with the hospitality and charm of the owner made this an unforgettable experience whilst on our honeymoon.

The most incredible and authentic Como Lago experience!! The family was so thoughtful and sweet. We went for a wedding and had dinner with the entire group the night before. Every dish was presented with a little history behind it. Can’t say enough how sweet and hospitable the family was. They even made a bouquet for the bride. It’s a must to experience and be sure to be taken to and from by boat!

Had the most amazing experience eating the local fare fixed menu served by the sweetest staff - especially the owner! They described every dish in detail and even offered to move us to a better table with a nicer view once one opened up. It was truly authentic and so romantic. Would absolutely love to come back and eat there again. Everything was so magical ✨🍷🐟

We hosted our welcome dinner before our wedding with 34 guests at Trattoria Del Porto. Firstly, Giovanni made it so easy to communicate via email (we are based in New Zealand) he even helped us by providing boat company’s names to transport us to the venue.
Second: Wow. The food, the atmosphere, the service! Everyone was very welcoming and all of our guests are still talking about the magical time we had here.
We can’t wait to come back and visit!
