An amazing place to visit. The garden is full of greenery, everything is very well-maintained, and the view from the villa is absolutely unreal. There's also a building on the garden grounds that you can enter, which houses a museum. It’s really interesting to see how people lived in different times, their household items, and their way of life. I highly recommend visiting this place.

The botanical gardens of Villa Monastero are arguably its crown jewel, stretching over 2 km along the picturesque shore of Lake Como, allowing you to enjoy the calming presence of the water while surrounded by verdant landscapes. The pathways are well-paved and accessible, making it suitable for visitors of all ages and physical abilities.

It takes you through various themed sections of the garden, each showcasing a different array of plant species. Highlights include the Citrus Garden with its fragrant lemon and orange trees, the Rose Garden bursting with colorful blooms, and the Tropical Garden featuring exotic plants from warmer climates.

Villa Monastero has a stunning view of Lake Como and is marvelous, even on a cloudy day. The botanical garden here is amazing – I loved it so much! The design is just genius, with so many different plants and beautifully laid-out paths. I feel so relaxed and lucky to come here to appreciate the beauty of Italian garden. You need to buy the ticket to visit. This is a must-visit spot!

There is a 4 story parking lot just opposite the Villa entrance, making it very accessible by car. The Villa gardens are stunning. The walk is easy and pleasant, and there is a lakefront cafe to relax and soak up the views. The combo ticket allows access to Villa Cipressi next door which also has a gorgeous views. Both Villas are just a few minutes walk from the town center which has a relaxing vibe and a lot places to eat. Overall for visitors it is a day well spent, would highly recommend.

Definitely Worth a visit with a beautiful tropical garden looking over the Lake Como. The promenade all along the length of villa gardens was peaceful along side the lake. A sight to behold with the lush greenery the Villa and its gardens have to offer. The tropical vegetation is outstanding. We were there in April during Easter. It was not very crowded and had to wait in line for couple of minutes to get the tickets, which was easy. The weather was cloudy and so it kind of added a mystical effect to the day. The lavender is developing its buds. So missed out on lavender blooms, since it was very early spring. The citrus trees already were bearing huge fruit and it was lovely and surprising to watch the different varieties of citrus fruits in different colors.

Note: our ticket was only the gardens not to the inside of the villa

The Villa was gorgeous set on the shores of Lake Como. The gardens are lush and paths well defined. There is a coffee shop midway that serves light snacks and drinks. The ambiance is beautiful and to top it off there was a wedding that was ending and the bride and groom walked onto a little dock with the typical wooden Italian motorboat waiting to whisk them away! Looked like a fairytale story. In the Villa itself the decorations, the art and furniture were all displayed nicely with explanations of the rooms available via pamphlet or mobile download. There are also many picturesque places both inside and out to take plenty of photos for your SM.

Perfect for a day trip in Varrena. The villa is a walking distance from the station. Book the ticket for the gardens (preferably online) and enjoy the picturesque scenes. There are multiple benches in the garden to just sit and relax. During summer bring sunglasses and a hat as it gets super sunny. We went at 12 pm which was perfect timing as it was not busy but by 2 pm it was getting really crowded.

We visited Villa Monastero on Sunday. We haven’t booke tickets but we only waited 2-3 minutes in line to get in. Beautiful, well-tended gardens, with a wonderful view. There is also a cafe inside with good prices.

Lovely place to visit. Lots and lots of history there and lots of beautiful things to see inside the villa and out. The garden was great to take a stroll through and see how big/old some of the plants there were, not to mention the views you get!

Come early to avoid waiting in queue and parking. Spectacular scenery and house structure to take photos.

By the time it was 11, already people waiting outside, and too many people take photos but people are friendly and won’t take too long at one photo spot.

None the less, it was a lot a beautiful botanical garden. Didn’t go inside.

One of the most beautiful and magical places in the world.
Highly maintained and they ensured the natural beauty to capture in all aspects.
Inside the villa there is a small caffee.
I've found no toilets as when asked the staffs said work was going on.
Entrance fee for basic botanical garden is 20 euro per person.
