Absolutely awestruck at the discovery of a 12th century place of religion, found behind a garage. Yes, it's €2.50 to get in, but it's a totally different experience to the established chiesas in Modica. Helpful and informative staff, too. It's worth a visit.

After visiting Pantalica near Syracuse this is a perfect continuation of our explorations in Sicily's rich history.

Definitely visit whilst in Modica. I stumbled across this today by chance and was curious and was not disappointed - very small but unique and intimate glimpse into the past, and a fascinating story of how it was buried and forgotten for so long.

Sure, it’s not going to slap you in the face with the ornate grandeur of the duomi in Modica, but let’s face if, you can see a stunning Baroque church in so many European places - this is unique. Take a moment, use your imagination (like you often have to do with history, preservation is a precarious thing) and enjoy what is different about and so old about this and it will amaze you, this dates back to the Greek’s in Sicily pre Christ.

Ernesto on the front desk was amazing and obviously passionate about what he does. I also read some reviews about the cost, I think 2.50 euro is a bargain (even with the dreadful Australian exchange rate 😂) to see this little unique slice of history and happy for my small entrance fee to go to the preservation. The cost of an arancini to help preserve something special, I’m here for that 🙌

Highly recommended. The place is small, but its atmosphere is worth the visit.

Very fascinating and highly recommended. It documents the orthodox history of the area with beautiful cute frescos.

입구에서 입장료로 2.5유로 현금받습니다.
보는데 몇분 안걸리는데 옛날벽화랑 무덤에 관심 있으시면 보는게 좋습니다.

Una piccola chiesa, utilizzata una volta come stalla per far asciugare i cosacavaddu, restaurata e divenuta luogo del cuore FAI. Apre alle 10, non fornito di pos quindi consigliato recarsi in loco con contanti. Piacevole visita effettuata anche grazie alla guida che ci ha illustrato informazioni riguardo le pitture e i lavori per riportare alla luce le pitture rupestri.

Une église troglodyte qui change des grandes églises baroques, très originale avec de belles fresques anciennes. Mérite le prix d'entrée de 2,50 euros pour l'expérience et pour contribuer à sa préservation. Mention spéciale pour la dame de l'entrée qui a été absolument adorable et nous a expliqué tous les détails en français ! Merci encore 🥰

È un piccolo gioiello di Modica riscoperta per caso negli anni ottanta, nascosta in una via ma dal valore immenso soprattutto a livello spirituale. Se ci si trova nei pressi bisogna assolutamente visitarla.

Unica ed inimitabile

Chiesetta che risale al XII secolo, scoperta per caso circa 30 anni fa. È un piccolo gioiello che rappresenta la storia dell'uomo e della chiesa dell'epoca. Visitarla costa 2€, ma sono assolutamente corretti anche per sostenere la gestione di un sito di questo tipo e continuare a dare la possibilità ai turisti di Modica di visitarla.

Una scoperta, in un angolino di una piazzetta dietro il vecchio Duomo di Modica…
Sembra di entrare in una casa e invece si apre questo spettacolo!
Da non perdere, per me la cosa più bella di Modica (le foto rendono poco rispetto a essere lì!!!h

Piccola e inaspettata chiesetta di soli 45 m2, ritrovata solamente negli anni ‘80 dopo essere stata dimenticata probabilmente dopo il terremoto del 1693.
Belli i dipinti dell’abside, ora in fase di recupero.
I soli 1,5 € dell’ingresso finanziano il restauro di questo luogo suggestivo.

Luogo molto suggestivo e di grande energia. Apre alle 10,30 e chiude alle 17,30. Da visitare e raccogliersi in meditazione davanti l'affresco

Petite grotte recouverte de fresques byzantines du 12e siècle, trouvée par hasard en 1987 par un gamin qui jouait au foot dans le quartier. Accueil très cordial du monsieur à l'entrée. Explications intéressantes sur les personnages représentés, le Christ, Marie, saint-Guy, l'évêque normand saint-Eloi ou saint-Jacques de Compostelle...
