Sicilian food at its top!
Cozy restaurant in the center of Scicli, just in front of the town hall (better known as the Vigata Police station in the TV series of Commissario Montalbano).
Warm and friendly staff, they can easily feel you at home.
The owner recommended us a selection of seven fish starters (we loved deep fried "baby squids"), pasta with swordfish and aubergines, and a couple of stunning swordfish rolls.
We were fully packed but we found a bit of space for a fantastic pistachio tiramisù!
...and a good bottle of red wine from Donnafugata, just to keep us hydrated!
Exciting experience... highly recommended!

Divine food! Thank you for the best fish/ sea food courses we had in our trip to Sicily - the octopus was soft and melting into your mouth, the mussels were extremely well cooked. The service was great and funny 🤣.

Very friendly staff that is happy to serve some of Sicilys best food, all fresh and homemade. The chef very well understands how to prepare the food without using salt (usually I use quite a bit on my own cooking). Happy to come again!

A Hidden Gem!
I had a delicious dinner in this restaurant last night, to celebrate a friends 60th birthday. The staff were so accommodating and attentive from the moment we arrived, right up until we left. The food was in abundance with lots of fresh fish cooked in the traditional way. Just when we thought we were on our final course, of many, the most amazing dishes of Spanish paella arrived. All the courses were put onto the table to serve yourself so that you could eat as much or as little as you wanted. The staff even prepared containers to take away with us. They served us as a group with ease and the food was freshly cooked and hot. We sat inside the restaurant which is a beautiful old traditional baroque building with Air Con, as we are in the middle of a heat wave. We took a break after dinner, before having our desserts, to go outside to enjoy the live music, before returning to cut the birthday cake and have dessert. I can't praise the staff enough, the service was outstanding. There is a large selection of local wines to choose from and this Osteria is excellent value for money. Highly recommended. The position of the Osteria is down a lane, across from the Local Town Hall, as a Landmark, where you can visit the office of Montalbano, for those who are familiar with the TV series. There is a Notice Board on the Piazza before the lane, with Osteria Mamma Rosa.
If you are unsure of what to order, just ask the staff to recommend their fresh dishes of the day. Thank you to all of the staff for a very enjoyable evening with delicious food in abundance.
