සිංහගල Lion’s Rock

There are multiple trails leading to Sinhagala from different entrance points in Sinharaja Forest Reserve. The trail from Pitadeniya or Wathugala entrance is around 7 km long. A ticket for a group of locals (5 pax) costs Rs. 600. It is a must to get the assistance of a qualified guide. It is advisable to start as early as possible to avoid the heat & reduce the tiredness. There are multiple water streams available apart from the final ascent, hence you do not need to be worried about the thirst.

First few kilometers is a slight ascend, followed by a trail on the plateau and then concluded by a steep ascent to Sinhagala. It took us 4.5 hours for the ascent (with short breaks & a breakfast break) and 2.5 hours for the descent. The viewpoint at the summit has a 180 degree view, overlooking the surrounding forest & mountain ranges. On this trail, you will witness a variety of flora & fauna and will be an ideal opportunity to appreciate the biodiversity.

The trail is infested with leaches, hence take appropriate precautions (such as leach socks, salt/siddhalepa) if you are allergic to them.

Superb experience! There are 3 ways to reach Sinhagala. Kudawa, Lankagama and Pitadeniya entrance. i think Kudawa entrance is the near way to reach the rock. you have to take a guide from ticket counter. i visited that place via Lankagama entrence and we had to go through ""dola " and sometimes we shifted to forest foot pathways. anyway there are lot of leeches. so use leach protection. Do not carry lot of water because there are many water sources you can drink. According to my knowledge you have to go 9 KM( not sure,near) to reach the top. there is no 360 view.

Поднимался на вершину от входа со стороны Ратнапуры. Занял весь путь туда-обратно около 5-6 часов. Это был самый длительный из возможных треков. И мало кто по нему ходит. По большей части пролегает через джунгли по тропе, но резкий подъем в гору под конец. На вершине вид на горный лес.
