A true forest experience. Very kind people and amazing food. A peaceful place where one can relax but also discover many animals in their natural habitat.

Martin's Lodge is situated right in the middle of the jungle and the most authentic place we have seen in Sri Lanka. It is a little hard to get there, as the final part of the road is very rocky and only accessible with a Jeep, however, this is already the start of an amazing experience.
The ladies working there were sooo sweet and were doing absolutely everything to make our stay even better. Breakfast and dinner was beyond delicious and 1000% authentic Sri Lankan food. They were going above an beyond to make sure we have enough and always checked, if the food is not too spicy for our European mouth ;)
The pictures online of the view from the Lodge don't do any justice to what it is actually like. We both travelled quite a bit already, but this was definitely something we have never experienced before.
Rooms were clean and against our expectations not even moist.
We highly recommend this place if your are looking for the most authentic experience in the Sinharaja rainforest.

Martins lodge is one of its kind place located at the heart of Sinharaja Forest unlike others which are outside the World Heritage site.
You wake up early with the call of Rare Endemic srilankan spurfowl and followed by many other endemics around the property.
Its a very quick walk to many activities aroyund yoiy including the forest entrance and the waterfalls.
And the place is an ideal retreat to anyone who want to spend some high density oxygen plus quality time in nature with pure silence surrounding all greenery.
Quality food in srilankan traditional style and also the staff is very friendly.

Very basic but exactly what a nature person needs. No phone, stunning jeep ride to reach it, good food, birds all around, very friendly people, would like to return one day :-)

Martin's Lodge is a gem in the Sinharaja Rain forest for a serious nature lover. The owner, Mr. Martin Wijesinghe, a retired forest department employee (a watcher and a guide) is a knowledge base for any guest, whether a secondary school student or a well educated environmentalist.
The facilities are basic, but very clean. 24 hours electricity is provided using their own water turbine and GSM signal strength is somwhat okay near the dinning area.
Food is home-made and delicious, and the hospitality is second to none. The bumpy ride to the lodge by jeep is difficult, but it adds to the unique experience at the rain forest.

The best place to stay in Sinharaja, if you are a birds watcher. Very basic accommodation but very clean and quite. Friendly family makes you like you are in your home. Closest place to the park entrance.

One of the best place to enjoy with nature and so manny endemic & rare birds in thare garden.

Good lodge

Martin's Lodge is located in the buffer zone of the Sinharaja rain forest. It has a great view of the forest from its dining area- many forest birds, several endemic to Sri Lanka are frequent visitors. Including the elusive Blue Magpie and rare Sri Lankan spur fowl. Rooms aren't fancy but have all basic comforts including hot water powered by solar energy.
The food is great- local, simple and tasty. The simplicity of the place encourages an environmentally friendly approach. All travellers need to keep in mind to minimize their waste and take special care to behave in an environmentally conscious fashion since the rain forest is quite literally at their doorstep. Taking care not to pollute the nearby waterways with any artificial substances is also really important.

Food are very tasty. You can see lot of birds including many endemic birds just sitting here. Only drawback is the condition of the rooms. Beds and linens are clean. There are hot water in the shower. But limited. Toilets bit dirty.

Nice stuff, very good food, acceptable rooms, for nature lovers it is a perfect choice as nature is thrilling around the accomodation. Sri Lanka Spurfowl can be seen from the bathroom. :)
