Fun experiences,especially for kids.
Visit before 8 am in the morning,im summer ,as the weather will be cool and pleasant. Also, at around 9 am, the elephant leaves to graze in the jungle.

Or visit after 4:30 in the evening.

Very cute little elephants roaming free is the best view. Lots of elephants here. This place has upgraded since the last time with a huge bridge that's just across the river which else had to be crossed on a canoe made of tree hollowed out. It's a nice place to meet nature but. It's a breeding and training center for elephants.

You can see lots of young and new born elephants in "Elephant Breeding Center" Sauraha in Chitwan. It is located on the Northside of Sauraha, approximately four km far from the tourist town.

The unique centre was established in 1985 for the captive breeding of domesticated elephant trapping for domestication. Entrance prices are 100 rupees for a foreigner (westerner), 50 SAARC, 25 Nepalese. Opening hours are 6am to 6pm though generally it starts to close around 5pm.

The Elephant Breeding Centre in Sauraha, Chitwan, is a unique facility that aims to conserve and protect the endangered Asian elephants in Nepal. Established in 1985, the centre is the only one of its kind in Asia, and has successfully bred over 30 elephants in captivity. The centre also provides a safe and natural habitat for the elephants, where they can roam freely in the jungle with their mahouts (handlers).

The centre is a popular tourist attraction, as visitors can observe the elephants and their calves, learn about their behavior and habits, and interact with them in a respectful and ethical way. The centre also has a small museum that displays information and exhibits on the history, culture, and ecology of the elephants and their role in Nepalese society. The centre is open from 6 am to 6 pm, and charges a nominal fee of 100 rupees for foreigners, 50 rupees for SAARC nationals, and 25 rupees for Nepalese citizens[^1^][1].

The Elephant Breeding Centre is not only a place of entertainment, but also a place of education and awareness. The centre aims to raise public awareness about the threats and challenges faced by the elephants, such as habitat loss, poaching, and human-elephant conflict. The centre also works with local communities and organizations to promote elephant conservation and welfare, and to support the livelihoods of the mahouts and their families. The centre is a model of how humans and elephants can coexist peacefully and harmoniously, and how tourism can be a positive force for conservation and development.

Well maintained and a lot of healthy animals. If you’re lucky you’ll get to see the wild elephants roaming around to mate or steal their food😂. The scene where the animals go to bathe with their mahouts in the pool is just exceptional.

You have to pay NRs 50 for ticket to entry. You can observe mother elephants and child elephants. There is a adult elephant's skull too.
Since this is breeding center, don't expect too much as a visitor. If this is your first time then you will enjoy it.

A place you shouldn't miss out when you are in and around Chitwan National Park. A place where we can see elephants upclose. The breeding center has numerous female elephants and young calves. The environment is just amazing. And you can see other animals mainly deers, peafowls and jungle fowls.

We got to see the staff making elephant momo besides learning about how they have been conserving the elephants.

BTW, many reviewers are mistaken about how these elephants in the breeding center are used. These elephants are not used for tourist rides. They are only used for patroling to prevent poaching. The ones used for tourist rides are illegally imported elephants. This center doesn’t offer elephant rides.

The place so amazing. You get to this place by canoe riding and amidst all the serene jungle. It has a small mueseum and elephants who are been looked after by Govt. to breed and conserve their species. There is an entry ticket as well. The area falls in under Chitwan National Park only and this excursion is mostly included in Safari packages.
