The most incredible place we stayed in Nepal. Definitely not one to miss, and definitely more than 3 stars. The story behind how the lodge was built is also inspiring - I recommend having a read! The rooms are beautiful, the staff attentive and the food is excellent. We were blown away by the service of the staff and the lodge gardens & surroundings, the photos do not do it justice.

Our group spent three nights here in November 2023.

The location is good for visiting the Chitwan National Park, and is probably within a mile or so's walk of the local town, although we only passed through in vehicles en route to the park.

The rooms were very nice, clean and comfortable. The hotel itself is well laid-out with the bedrooms around the grounds. Meals were varied and nicely-cooked.

The festival of Diwali was taking place whilst we were here, and several events took place at the hotel. We were made to feel most welcome, and the local people and staff were happy to involve us in their local culture.

I would be happy to stay here again should I visit Chitwan.

Sapana is an absolute gem! It is beautifully designed and maintained, the staff are wonderful - kind, attentive, eager to fulfill every desire, and they create magic. I loved my time with the elephants, the breakfast with the elephants and jungle walk are a must, and it is simply a beautiful place to relax.

Sapana far exceeded our expectations. Originally we had planned to stay just 3 days to explore Chitwan National Park. We extended our stay to a whole week, as we felt so comfortable there and there were so many things to see and do. What is particularly remarkable is that Sapana is a social business, i.e. the majority of its revenue is reinvested in local social projects, such as several local schools, a community garden, a reforestation project, a workshop run entirely by women, an elephant sanctuary – and this is just to name some. Sapana offers an extensive program of different activities to explore the jungles of Chitwan, but also to immerse in the local Tharu culture or to get to know their elephant sanctuary. For animal welfare lovers, this is the place to be, as Sapana is committed to offering sustainable tourist activities, without elephant riding or other types of animal exploitation. The restaurant also offers really good food, with a wide selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes! Another thing we really want to highlight is the staff: We were very impressed by the people who work there, by the determination to run such a social business that contributes to the community, but also by their sheer kindness and friendliness. The moments we spent sitting around the fire in the evenings, chatting and playing the guitar will always stay with us. Thank you again for such a wonderful experience in Chitwan/Sauraha! We will definitely come back!

Sapana Village Lodge has been simply amazing.
The overall experience we had at the Lodge, together with the wonderful experiences organized by Sapana’s Staff really made our holiday in Nepal special.
My boyfriend and I left a piece of our heart there, the place is magic and the nature so fulfilling and peaceful that deliver simply the best experience you can ask for at a Natural Park Lodge.

To anyone who is thinking to spend a few days at Chitwan National Park I strongly advise to chose Sapana Village Resort as basecamp, and to buy the complete experiences package (Safari and trekking among Rhinos, Elephant experiences, Nepali massages and SPA, canoeing in the river with crocodiles etc…and if you’re lucky you can also spot Tigers and Leopards).

This is what we had, and it simply takes you into the deepest knowledge and experience of the local nature and lifestyle.
Special mention to our main guide Hemanta who was incedibily knowledgable and experienced, and so respectful for both the wildlife and the amazing Chitwan environment.
He can really take anyone into the deepest knowledge of the place, the animals and the nature as a whole.
Our experience would haven’t been the same without him.

At Sapana Village Lodge the nature and the animals of Chitwan aren’t the only main experience you get; when you come back at the lodge, happily tired after many adventures in the jungle, you get four stars hotel treatment.
Super comfy, clean and very well equipped and furnished rooms, amazing cuisine with very tasty meals (well done to Chef Bhim and all his staff!) and super super friendly and welcoming people.
Everyone is really working hard for your happiness and to deliver you the best experience ever, both into the nature and into the luxury treatment of the lodge.

Once again, Sapana Village didn’t just meet our high expectations, it surely exceeded them leaving us memory of pure happiness and warm heart for all the amazing people we met and the wonderful culture and nature we were immerse into.

I absolutely recommend this place, and if you can please get the complete experiences package to be sure to get the most out of such an amazing place.

Hope to get back sooner or later!!!

Great Chitwan experience in this Lodge
The staff is extremely welcoming and helpful.
Food is varied and not very spicy unless you ask it to be.
Good advice too for Jungle tours.
Great terrace facing a small river to see elephants every day.
If we had had warm water everyday in the shower, it would have been perfect.
We'll be back.

WHAT A PLACE! Its such a gem in whole Nepal… they take such good care of their rescue elephants… its not allowed to ride them!!! The staff is extremely nice and helpful. I stayed here for 6 nights and spent amazing time with the elephants. The food at the Restaurant is so good. Many options for vegetarians! This resort feels like heaven… they also have a very beautiful spot to practice yoga… in the morning time you’ll have the elephants in the background… the Hotel offer many many activities like the safari tours etc. You’ll definitely not get bored. Its super family friendly but also good for solo travellers who want their peace for a little while… THANK YOU Sapana team!

There’s no other rating possible but a straight five star. It’s beautiful location, stylish design, lovely food and wonderful staff make this lodge the perfect place for me. I had the opportunity to see lots of wildlife on walking and Jeep safaris and enjoyed biking around on one of their mountain bikes. And the stay at the Lodge itself was a highlight, too!

Very nice, calm and cozy hotel. Also with options to spend time outside the room - even without having to consume anything.
Very nice staff taking care of the guests. They also picked us up from the bus stop late night. The tour guide for the jungle activities is very good, he has a good feeling for the guests.
Nicely decorated room. Only the bathroom could be better equipped.
The location is great for jungle tours of all sorts.

I visited Sapna Village lodge for the first time but I can say that this is the best experience I have to stay in a very beautiful place.

Nicely decorated, clean and comfortable rooms. The food was fantastic with a large menu.

The staff was so kind, gentle and very friendly and the coordination of the staff was superb.

I would recommend everyone to visit this lodge if you ever come across Chitwan.

Hope to see you again.

From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted and cared for. Besides the great service, clean, comfortable rooms and good food, we appreciated the social impact they are having in Nepal by helping women and children with education and skills training.

It’s an eco friendly lodge with quiet places to read a good book or watch the elephants grazing. They provide filtered water anytime to refill your bottles and arrange tours and transportation as needed.

We would definitely go again

Enjoyable stay with 5 star hospitality. Everyone knew who you were, making the stay personal and welcoming. Food was delicious. They also have many spots to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings. We had the bungalow room which was beautiful and spacious. We also arranged for private car transfers out of the hotel and had a safe and friendly driver.

We had an unforgettable experience! It’s the perfect place if you want to relax, enjoy the nature and meet the beautiful animals around the park!

The staff is very attentive and really polite! They took care of everything for us. Highly recommend their tours!
They rescue elephants from the elephant tourist ride business and you can spend a day with them while supporting their sustainable and ethical social and wildlife projects.

Amazing paradise for true animal lovers!!!

It must be the most wonderful place in Chitwan.
We opted for a two night package and had no regrets. We fed the elephants, took a canoe ride (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!), walked around the jungle and were so lucky to see a wild rhino bathing in a pond and even had to run away from a wild elephant 😄 We also went on a jeep safari. We saw a stick dance show. And we visited the Tharu village where we had tea with locals and felt so intimate.
The food is decent, and there are plenty of options for everyone.
I appreciate the ethical side of things, it was very important to me, and I was happy to see how much they give back to the community and to contribute myself too.
Make sure you buy the souvenirs from the little store, all the money goes to the ladies who crafted them.
We also donated money for kids education, they don't advertise it much, but you can make a difference by donating 5 dollars! Please do!
Rooms are ok, we didn't spend much time there anyway, we had hot water and thats all that matters.

My only complaints are as follows:
1. Small breakfast selection, only powdered coffee one day for breakfast, you wouldn't go hungry, there are basic options such as eggs, some fruit, cereal, but it could have been better to be completely honest.
2. Cute dogs need some washing... Lots of kids and guests play with them and pet them, but you can see they are itchy and not the cleanest unfortunately. It would be great for the safety and comfort of everyone...

Fantastic place to stay while visiting Chitwan National Park. The grounds were beautiful, they had many comfortable seating areas and tables where you could look out at the view and watch the resident elephants graze and bathe in the river. Waking up every morning was magical with the elephants just outside the rooms.

The rooms were nice, spacious, and clean. If you do not like spiders just be ready to encounter many, but that is normal for being in a green area. Sapana gives back to the community too - funding the Sapana School for children across the street and taking care of the resident elephants. They are focused on wildlife protection, and are against elephant riding and exploitation.

The restaurant was fantastic too, the best food we had in the area. Staying at Sapana made the whole trip magical.

We spent two nights in this hotel as we wanted to visit Chitwan National Park.

We highly recommend to choose this hotel, since the rooms are so comfortable, the food is incredibly good and the benefits of the hotel are going to some development projects of the local communities and environmental projects.

We will also like to thank our guide Janak and the rest of the staff of the hotel who were really nice with us and make us feel as home.

Thank you and we will come back for sure! :)
