Had a morning tour today and absolutely loved it, the work the shelter does is amazing for welfare and the freedom for the animals. The lady who gave us our tour (apologies can’t remember her name) was amazing you, can see how much love she has for the animals. the volunteers all seem to be very happy and work relentlessly hard to keep the sanctuary up and running. I can’t recommend visiting more the staff and the animals greatly appreciate the visit. I wish I could take them all home with me as me and my partner fell in love with Butter the cat, as well as Dominic and a beautiful three legged ginger cat.

The negative reviews are honestly lying and seem to be upset that a charity has asked for money.

Paying to visit an animal shelter ... I wasn't very sure if it was worth it at first. But it was :) Lanta Animal Welfare has a very interesting story and they do a great job on the island (and surrounding islands). You can also interact with some of the cats, which was fun. I left very, very impressed!

I took my children here and it was an hour well spent. Our ticket prices all go into the not for profit welfare centre as a donation and after you see everything they do here, you will know it’s money well spent. All the staff were friendly and helpful and our tour was really informative. You see EVERY part of the centre including the labs, hospital, x ray room, recovery and play areas. You leave fully understanding how a place like this functions, is funded and the positive impact it has made to the island and parts of the nearby mainland. I highly reccomend you come and visit.

It's an amazing experience, to see what they have done to give the dogs and cats of Lanta a better time, a chance to heal wounds and soul and or a new life.
We got to see kitty city, the hospital, the doggie outdoor area and the rehabilitation station.
We cuddled lovely cats and dogs and while having a refreshment, we listened to the history of Lanta Animal Welfare and how it survived the tsunami and the COVID pandemic.
Thank you all so much for your work!

Everyone who visit Koh Lanta should book a tour here. And make a donation! The tour was nicely done and informative. We got to play with the cats first and then went on the tour though the welfare center. People on the center do great work there👍

Love what this place does in terms of neutering and treating animals. The work is remarkable and there's been a significant reduction in the number of stray animals as a result. It's definitely worth a visit to not only learn about the work but also to see the lovely cats and dogs there. I'd highly recommend.

Took the tour advertised on their website. The tour was very well organized, the guide explained in detail about the history of the establishment and the rescue animal situation on Lanta.

I was very impressed with the work they have accomplished on the island. The donation of 250baht for this tour was very well worth it.

The animals had space to roam, the clinic was clean and everything was organized. Highly recommend the tour!

Very educational, a MUST to visit!! Wish more of such well organized animal welfare existed… They are doing amazing work for our vulnerable homeless furry friends, which most of us can’t commit as they do… The only thing I can support is to provide small but constant monthly donations. THANK YOU all so much! The world is a better place because of all of you 🙏🌍🫶😻

I took their tour and it was easily one of the best things I did in Lanta! The organization has saved, treated, rehabilitated more than 10,000 dogs and cats and helped many of them get adopted.

It was humbling to see the work that goes into maintaining their facilities and staff, and how they use the funds to build a safe space for animals to heal and trust humans again.

I’d definitely recommend doing the tour! They also have a cooking class — time for lime — and all its earnings are used to run the welfare. So you can do either of those to support the animals.

Had a very interesting tour here by some great dog/cat loving volunteers! They do amazing rescue work and create awareness about what’s going on with the street animals in koh Lanta. Met some lovely cats and dogs and very happy I went here to learn. A rescued dog is the best dog (especially at Lanta welfare)

What an amazing job the volunteers and owners of this organization are doing. I highly recommend doing the tour, it is 1 hour long, in English and kids friendly. You will learn more about the Lanta Animal Welfare mission and get to meet a lot of cats and dogs. ♥

They have tightened what they offer here, which makes sense. You need to book in for a tour. First you meet in a welcome area with cats, where they tell you about their rescue centre. Then you get a tour of the facilities, where at a distance you can meet some of their dogs, view their kennels and see their medical centre. It’s great to see the work they do.

Edited to add I can’t help but laugh at the (minimal) negative reviews, complaining that they have to pay to see the animals. Of course you do - it’s a donation run charity.

Such a wonderful place helping such sick and injured dogs and cats. We had a great tour guide (I believe his name was Joe) who showed us round and explained why some of the animals were in their care. Really such a lovely place that needs more people visiting and donating and adopting if possible. Cannot recommend enough that you visit.

This place was really nice. Very friendly staff here and their job is amazing. They helped so many animals it really nice from them.
You came to this place one of the staff is talking about welfare and what they are doing and after it he/she show you all places in welfare.
Have to recommend you this place. need to see how hard life it can be for dogs and cats in Thailand.

Visiting Lanta Animal Welfare was a truly heartwarming experience. From the moment I stepped in, I was impressed by the cleanliness of the facility and the dedication of the staff. Each animal is treated with so much care and respect, and it's clear that the welfare of the animals is the top priority here. The staff are not only knowledgeable but also passionately devoted to the mission of rescue, rehabilitation, and finding loving homes for these animals. The opportunity to interact with the animals and see their recovery stories firsthand makes this place very special. If you're an animal lover or just looking to support a meaningful cause, Lanta Animal Welfare is definitely worth visiting. Their efforts in animal care and community education are truly commendable. I left feeling inspired and optimistic about the future of the animals in their care.

20 Year old animal welfare volunteer and non-profit group. They take care of stray cats and dogs on Koh Lanta island, treating, vaccinating and sterilizing them. You can adopt or simply contribute to their welfare. Visit!
