Thomas Park

This is a huge park with a splash pad, 2 playground and a massive sandbox! There are 3 very large covered areas with power and trash cans would be very good spot for patty’s or a family reunion! We love the big playground! Basketball courts and walking trail are great as well! Lots to do for all ages.

The kiddos and I love Thomas Park and can't wait to visit again. We had a little fun due to the cold weather and I met a good friend there also with her kids.

Very clean. I particularly used the Marion HS Track every morning while on vacation. Very nice.

Update 1.12.23: Sad to see the Marion Track and historic Football Stadium was razed. I now have moved over to using the beautiful trails from Thomas Park.

4.17.23- I have started to venture into the old Marion Cemetery. What a nice history lesson. Really worth checking out if you are in the area. Highly recommend!

9.21.23- New Parkview Elementary School Construction in place of old HS Football Field/Track

Fun playground for kids of all ages. Lots of shade, seating, and picnic areas, too. The swings are high enough for forty plus year old to recapture the youthful feeling of flying.🦅

A word of ⚠ though, just because a middle-aged human can swing to great heights does not automatically mean that jumping off is advised!

Or, be like me and throw Caution to the wind, and embarrass your teenagers while simultaneously tweaking your bad knee 😁!

All in all, good times to be had!

Great local park. Large play area for the bigger kids and a smaller area for the smaller kids. In the summer the splash pad is on and it is a great place to cool off. The is a restroom.

This is a family favorite. It has a bike path, 2 playgrounds (aimed at different ages), a splash pad, and a sand box. it has multiple large pavilions as well.
I do have to give marks off for the disk golf. there are only 3 of the 18 holes left, as the derecho of 2020 did a lot of damage, and the disc golf course was never rebuilt.

This park is awesome! There is basketball courts, permanent restroom, spacious parking lot, swing, sliding, climbing, and splash on the summer. There are some picnic shelters. If you ride bike, there are some tools attached and air pump too.

One of the best parks in the Cedar Rapids area, just inside the small town of Marion. Here you'll find two playgrounds, swings, a sand pit, frisbee golf course, pavilions to rent for special occasions, hiking trails, bike trails, restrooms, and the prettiest splash pad in the area.

A few years back the city replaced the aging, and somewhat scary, metal playground with a much safer, though less thrilling, play area.

Love this park. Great place to host birthdays and rent out for graduation. There are several playgrounds to use as your kids grow older.

When it's summer and the splash pad is open. It's a beautiful place and free park to enjoy the day for you and the kiddos. Plenty of seating spread throughout and sidewalks throughout the park. So for parents with strollers. Getting around is easy. A whole day could easily be swept away by enjoying the various playgrounds, sandbox and splash pad available. Just don't forget sunscreen because there's nothing shading the splash pad or sandbox very well. Restrooms are within walking distance of the splash pad, as well.

Great park for families and dogs. Gorgeous trail, picnic area, playground and sledding in the winter. Nice creek w/ a bridge - listening to the water is extremely peaceful.

A really nice park at the edge of Marion and Cedar Rapids. Playground for children and a large shelter for gatherings. We attended a moonlit movie event at Thomas Park. They had a large screen set up and people were able to bring lawn chairs and snacks to watch a movie. It was a really great time. There are public restrooms available if needed.

Up behind the hill there's an entrance of some sort of trail. Becareful with the ticks if you bring a furry friend

Parking easy, shelter, and various play areas. Not sure about facilities.

The park is very well kept and offers several play areas. The ability to reserve the pavilions is great. The splash pad offers a cool place in summer.

Nice playground and splash pad. Feels safe as u can sit on one of many picnic tables to see your kids wherever they are

Without a doubt the best park in Marion as well as Linn County. The only issue I have is how crowded it ALWAYS is however have never had a issue with bad kids yet so I guess it could be worse. Great park for kids of all ages. Plenty to do to keep them occupied for a long time.

Very nice park and splash pad.

Nice playground area for both toddlers and older kids. There's also a splash pad near by. Close to the walking trails. Pets are welcome but need to be on a leash.
