Adirondack History Museum

This museum was a lot of fun! It is unique to start with in that it was an old high school that’s been converted into a museum AND also has its own climbable fire tower. There were also many exhibits despite the museums size, all of which which were interesting and very well done/laid out. They also cover quite a broad range of different things in their exhibits which I thought was cool and have tons of really neat old artifacts and equipment like a vintage printing press, fire truck and horse sleighs to name a few. My favorite is of course the permanent Arto Monaco exhibit! It gets 5 stars for that alone in my book. May Arto never be forgotten!!

I went up to long lake for a family vacation and it was fun! We loved to pull the rope that blows the horn on the train we fed the fish saw the boat house!
I am not Sure How much it costs without a membership.

A delightful and charming museum that tells the story of this fascinating area. I especially liked climbing the fire tower for views high up above Elizabethtown and the exhibit on hiking in the high peaks. At $5/adult, the price is right, especially when compared to other attractions nearby.

History and art used to tell history of Essex County and surrounding area of Adks. New exhibits include perm high peaks room and temp exhibits on WWI and women's history with local people and influnces in honor of anniversaries. Nice people. Great seasonal programming. Reasonable cost.

This museum was amazing and so well done. Lots of old photos and tons of history to read and the setting is the old school house. We only had and hour before they closed but could have easily spent 3 hours there.

Wonderful exhibits on hiking the High Peaks and the paradoxical relationship between working and wild landscapes in the Eastern Adirondacks. Also good programs & a formal garden

Something for everyone, learned a lot, brought back a lot of memories, kids loved it!.
