I brought my cat zoey there for an emergency and they were AMAZING. Words cannot describe how thankful I am for them saving her and getting her taken care of. The staff was kind and amazing, they kept me updated on zoey's status along with the financial side of things.Then that next morning they called me to check in which was awesome.. I'd recommend this hospital 100000%. Thank you guys so much ❤.

I can’t say enough positive things about the staff and how well they go above and beyond for the animals and owners who bring their pets there. Anytime you have to go to the vet it’s usually a stressful situation. Your animal has to go somewhere unfamiliar and with usually something happening to them that’s uncomfortable. The owners are worried about their pets and so they tend to be out of their normal routine as well. The staff here did everything they could to make sure my family cat got the attention and love it needed. It had a broken leg and the staff did everything in their power to stabilize her, comfort her, and make accommodations for her to get surgery and the care she needs to heal. They did this all with genuine love and care for the pet and owner. If you care about your pet this is the place to go. I’m sure there are places out there that may be able to do things cheaper or quicker or whatever. But no other vet I’ve been to has been able to provide as much love and care for my animal as this place has. All while being extremely reasonable on the pocket book. Any real owner knows that to get good care for your children it’s not cheap nor would you want anyone to cut corners. Well this is that place comparable to where you would want your children getting care at. They are that good.
Thank you for the bottom of my heart. I couldn’t have asked for any better attention to my cats needs then your provided. I’ll keep you updated with her healing.

I brought in my 3 month old puppy mini daushound named Izzy Marie. I live an hour away but am just thankful they are open on Sundays. She became very sick overnight and I could tell something was wrong. The staff at this emergency vet hospital was amazing.. getting us right in and was able to do a physical exam and knew the problem right away!. I also had them do labs to confirm. Izzy got meds that day and is 100 percent better today just 24 hours later.

They delivered the news I have forever been terrified of receiving with compassion and care. I cannot recommend them enough and while my sweet dog needed put to sleep they did everything in their power to help and comfort me and my Dog. Thank you from the bottom of my heart lakeside.

These ladies were so caring and compassionate,I had to say goodbye to my buddy jack and I don’t think I could of found a better place to take him,I will always be grateful for the care he was given in his last moments

We've taken all of our cats, as well as a few strays, here or to their sister clinic in Herrin for care and emergencies for the 4 years we've lived here. We've always been treated with respect, and felt taken care of. They take care credit, which is the only way we could have afforded most of our pets' care. They have even handed us coupons towards our prescriptions and worked within our schedules with the drop off options. It's available 24 hours, and some one is always there. Honestly, yes, the are cheaper places to go, but I'll stick with this team , as I have seen them do everything in their power to help my furbabes out.

We have taken several of our animals here over the years. They are really wonderful to deal with. Very compassionate staff and excellent Dr's.

I hope Ashton reads this. I brought a family members pet in to be treated for parvo. Unfortunately he did not make it, but I will never forget how kind hearted and knowledgeable Ashton was. This vet is very lucky to have someone like her to work for them. Thank you Ashton so much for answering all my questions and concerns and doing what you could to help us. I believe you are truly in the right career path and pet owners appreciate people like you.

This is Thomas. We adopted him in 2017. Thomas was a wonderful family member. His last visit to the vetanarian was sad. Four hours after leaving the vet, Thomas was seen at Lakeside Hospital. We wanted to give Thomas the greatest care available to help him remain healthy. His health detoriated quickly. Lakeside staff kept my family informed of Thomas condition. They allowed us time to sit with Thomas. We talked to him, rubbed his beautiful fur and expressed how much we loved him. Lakeside staff treated my family respectfully and with dignity. Upon Thomas transition from this Life, Lakeside gave us a placque impressed with Thomas paw prints. We intend to paint this beautiful placque. Two days later we received a sympathy card from Lakeside staff. Also, when receiving Thomas ashes we were presented with a Certificate of Cremation. They were given to my family in a little gift bag with a heartwarming quote. Lakeside staff provided Techs, Nurses, and Hospice services along with a Doctor/Vet. We would recommend Lakeside Hospital to anyone needing animal care. They helped us begin to process trauma and grief of losing our precious Thomas. Thank you Lakeside staff😿💔❤

Wonderful staff and doctor. This vet is understanding and has a no nonsense attitude towards caring for your beloved pet. Our three pets all go here and we will continue to see them in the future. They have been beyond caring, understanding, and are reasonable.

I had a toy Yorkie-Poo that had been sick for about a month. I had been going to a different vet but Toby was not getting better. When we came here they where very honest about Toby’s life and how sick he was. We could do further test and prolong Toby for a few more weeks maybe. But our baby was suffering a lot. I appreciate the honesty and care, Even thou it’s was not the outcome I wanted our baby is no longer in pain. Thanks for the honesty and love for our fur babies.

Absolutely wonderful clinic. They got my sick senior dog in on a Sunday evening & took excellent care of her. Dr. Detmer cared about my dog & she cared about helping her & alleviating her symptoms. She showed compassion & a true desire to heal. The staff explained to me when I called that I would have to wait & that just because they told me to be there at 4 didn't mean she would get in at 4 which was helpful to me so that I could pack a bowl & bring water for the dog & some extra drinks/snacks for myself. I did have a very long wait but that was fine with me. Lakeside is the only place in SIL with emergency hours. I know some reviewers are upset about hours changing and having to wait outside but I look at it more as thank God they're here, I'll gladly wait. I imagine getting techs, let alone a vet to work those hours isn't easy & I'm sure that's why their hours change at times. The care my dog got was impressive & Dr. Detmer personally called us multiple times to check in on her, give us test results & help us with aftercare. I'm not sure what we would of done without them that night but likely it would of been a trip to STL and a much longer wait plus a much higher bill. If your dog seems off or gets sick call them.

Wonderful and compassionate people! Took care of my fur baby asap and with complete care with the time he had left .
I live an hour away but they were beyond understanding of seeing my fur baby after several hospitals back at home denied his care !
My Leo did not make it but made my big kitty feel super comfortable and my family as well . As we said our last goodbye to our family member 🤍

We had an emergency with our 15 year old pup!! We were so concerned, but the moment we arrived they took over, started helping her, caring for her, loving on her, giving her meds, performed a small surgery & all in all took amazing care of her!!!! This was our first visit with them since we have a vet in our hometown, who actually sent us to Lakeside for said emergency!! Our Gracie made a full recovery within a day or two, bcuz of this place & the people that work there!! Lastly, not only were they amazing & loving to my pup, but also to me!! ❤🥰

My daughter , Granddaughter and I had to bring our dog there tonight for an emergency euthanasia and I cant say enough about how wonderful we were treated there. We were all devastated and emotional my granddaughter was so hysterical losing her dog of 13 years. The two ladies working there tonight were the most compassionate and caring people I have ever encountered. I recommend this place for any animal needs. They are over an hour from our home but I definitely will drive there again if we ever need anything for any of our animals as they went above and beyond. Thank you ladies I am so sorry I cant remember their names as I was to distraught. 9/8/23 late night around 930 pm when we were there

My 13 yr old boxer bassist mix had her first seizure I'm in the medical field so I sat with her kept her safe and comfort her well as the 1st one came and went her last one was a bad one and my vet suggested this place we're about a hour away we loaded her up and got there as fast as we could ... we get there and they immediately came out to get her and another with concent forms then a nurse called us immediately to let us know about her and told us what she thought.. she was very informative and sensitive about our baby.. we had to make a tough decision and she was kind enough to let us call her back while we discuss it.. we made a heartbreaking decision and I asked if we or 1 of us can be with her while it happens they were wonderful and giving me time and privacy with her.. they made sure she went peaceful no pain.. they made us a paw print of her paw they were really nice and sensitive with us and our baby .. I would recommend them to help with your baby(s)

Always helpful when I need a stray checked for a microchip. Emergency services are pretty pricey, but that's just the nature of emergency services. Staff are friendly and helpful. Keep in mind, like human emergency services, they triage patients based on urgency of need, so wait times can be pretty long sometimes if your pet isn't near death.

Great friendly staff, was able to bring my cat in within a half hour of calling about an emergency.

When our Miniature Schnauzer got loose and was subsequently hit by a car about 7PM in Harrisburg, the driver took her to Lakeside Veterinary Hospital as they had staff their until 11PM. I was contacted through their network of contacts and went there immediately. The staff were great, well trained, and friendly. The facility was clean and tidy. They were able to do X-Rays and a full blood workup within a short timeframe and we were able to go home in a couple of hours. Although we were lucky she had no major injuries, it was wonderful that Lakeside was available.

Brought my cat in fearing the worst, and the doctor was very kind and professional, being upfront with me both about the reality of the situation as well as the prices. Prices might be a little steeper than average since it's an emergency clinic, but I was so grateful to get my cat seen immediately (they had me booked in less than an hour from the time I called) and they're careful about doing things step by step to keep costs to a minimum. And they definitely know what they're doing - kitty's gonna be fine!!
