El Paisano Grill and Bar

Absolutely loved it! First time being here and everything is wonderful! For the price, you get big portions and tons of flavor! 10/10 recommend!

It was our first time here. Ive been reading rave reviews of this place on a FB resteraunt review group page. I ordered the Mexican enchalada meal and Bill had two hard shell tacos and a tostada meal with chili toriados. We also had guacamole with our chips and salsa and i had a horchata. Everything was fantastic. The service was just the absolute best. We had a great conversation with our waiter. Bill stood up and started walking out after lunch and had an episode, falling to the floor incoherently, for several minutes and then I went to retrieve his wheelchair. The staff was so patient and understanding and helped him finally get into his chair and then came out and helped me again by getting him in the car. They didnt have to do that. They were so kind. We will be back again for more great food!
Update: We come back often. His favorite is the fajitas which come with the lettuce and guacamole beans and rice. My favorite is the Pollo Azteca which is this perfectly seasoned chicken breast on queso with shrimp on top, beans and rice. Of course you can't forget the jalapeño tornados with their perfect peppery spiciness!

Really impressed with the vibe of the place and everything about it. Had the carnitas which was awesome. Is a very comfortable restaurant and very clean.

El Paisano is our favorite Mexican restaurant in Carbondale. I always get the dinner special that includes a tamal, enchilada, burrito, taco, chile relleno (they actually do these right, unlike some places I've visited as of late) tostada, AND rice and beans for $11.99. You can't beat that value! It's also great to go to the little grocery store attached to the restaurant. They carry great snacks and necessities if you want to prepare Mexican cuisine at home.

Was in Carbondale for work for a few days and my hosts brought me here for lunch one day. I found El Paisano to be as good, or better, than several of the "authentic" Mexican restaurants in my hometown.
The chips were perfect and the salsa had a perfect blend of flavor and spiciness; not too much and not too little. They did bring other sauces to add if one desired more heat though.
I ordered three chorizo street tacos which were incredible, with more than enough meat and other toppings to be filling but not overly so. 10/10 I'd eat here again to try something else off the menu.

We just moved to the area. Have been to several Mexican restaurants in town. This one is hands down the best we have had yet. Highly recommend this one.

Fantastic food. Excellent interior with tons of space and seating. Food is on higher price range for Mexican in this area. But very high quality and delicious. Good service and great chips and salsa.

Recommend the steak tacos! Went during lunch time and it was packed with staff and customers.

Our favorite Mexican restaurant in the Carbondale area. The $11.99 Dinner Special es muy deliciosa! A lot of food for the money. Chips are served warm and the salsa is very flavorful. The staff has always been very kind and attentive. ¡Magnífico!

Great staff. Friendly. Food is amazing. Truly authentic Mexican food. A favorite for the whole family. Don't forget they have a grocery store attached.

Very clean place. Friendly staff. Food was great. They have the absolute best beef tongue tacos I have ever had! They brought them out with three different sauces! I think I am addicted now!

Having lived in Houston for four years..it's not easy finding authentic Mexican food up here that compares..mmmmmthat being said this is the most legit it gets within the city limits..unless you're making it from scratch..their guacamole is made in house...I can't think of another establishment that does this..they always have that woeful greenish gray paste..poorly hidden under a bun..egg or tortilla..

More importantly..these kind folks did me a favor on an particularly hard day..I was in desperate need of a Mexican bulldog (gold fish bowl of margarita with a Corona or other Mexican light beer stuffed into it upside down)..they had no such thing..but because I really wanted it..they figured it out just for me and I drank the whole thing before I had finished my first basket of house made chis and salsa..

Very friendly staff. They take apple pay. Strong cold margaritas! The cervesa was cold. Crisp. I strongly recommend this restaurant.

I was surprised by the selections. Different from the other Mexican restaurants in the area.
