Dix Mountain Wilderness

Great hike about 14 mi in and out..5th highest peak in the ADK ..about 5 or so mi of rolling trail then when you hit the slide is where the fun begins..

the Dix wilderness is one of the most remote regions within the adirondacks. If you don't want to see many people, then you will love this region. My friend and I hiked the Dix Range, 5 high peaks, in an overnight trip. They are some of the most beautiful mountains that the ADK's offer. I highly recommend this region for any more experienced hiker.

Long, wet climb up Dix from Rte 73 with all the rain lately, but well worth it. Views were spectacular!

The purest of air and the clearest mountain water. The view is beyond amazing and the trails are plentiful.
Nothing can prepare you for what you will see when hiking in the adirondacks.
On a clear day you feel as if you can see the east coast from the top of some of the high peaks.
Download a trail map and make sure you dress correctly for the hiking.
Even just driving there is amazing.
If you like to be outdoors or need to hit the reset button...go to the lake placid area and stay a week.

Great outdoors area with beautiful hikes. There were several hikers that tried to start hiking without camping gear after 3pm. This is a very bad idea. If you don't know your pace, please arrive in the morning knowing that you should turn around when you've depleted half your water, or half the time remaining until sunset.

Long but fantastic mountain range. Would recommend camping at the base if you plan on doing the whole range as itll take you a full day. Both accents are very steep but I would say the west slope would the easier if longer route. West trail was muddier and buggyer than the south face trail. But the west face has better views going up and a gorgeous brook that is a great place to stop and catch your breath and eat.

Beautiful area in the Adirondacks for a daytrip get away. If you enjoy looking for and know about the minerals in the area, you can find labradorite within the picturesque streams just off rte 73. Follow rte 73 up towards Keene and there's a great roadside stand that sells all things maple syrup.

Me and my daughter hiked Noonmark mtn. Were both 46ers, but never hiked this mountain before, what an awesome mountain. The views are better than alot of the high peaks we have climbed. Highly recommend this climb. Dont forget your micro spikes, its very icy and steep.

Beautiful, rugged area!

The High Peaks offer so much for people to go and explore in NY. I would highly recommend to anyone trying to hike the area and enjoy all that it has to offer. The Adirondacks are a gem!

Wonderfully quiet, you will meet half as many people as in the Marcy area.
