I love the primitive camping and being surrounded by nature! Great trails, truly awesome staff and lots of history!

This is my go to local hiking place. It’s a big enough area that even when there’s a lot of people there’s still plenty of space. The trails are limited, but easily accessible and pretty moderate - not problem for younger kids. You can go for a good 60 minute walk next to the water. There are always lots of turtles to see. I came across a couple of snakes this spring. It’s close enough that you can get there after work, but far enough away that you feel like you got away a little.

Very peaceful trail, have been here a few times and there’s not too much foot traffic on this trail. The time I went with my friend, we saw so many critters on the trail! The trail is relatively easy, there are definitely some uphill, but they are not too difficult. The trail is almost completely shaded except for two small spots on the loop where you can view the towers, which is pretty cool. I would recommend this trail for families, children, and pets for sure!

A beautiful trail, even in the winter months. There’s plenty of wildlife, the riverfront is peaceful, and the suspension bridge is fun to walk across. Even for myself who’s afraid of heights, it wasn’t too high to make it across-it felt sturdy!
We came on a weekday and ran into only a handful of people the 2.5 hrs we walked - it was nice to feel relaxed and part of nature, and not that I need to hurry out of people’s way or get interrupted hearing others’ conversing from afar.

Came here with a friend over the weekend; this was a fun trail with lots to see! We walked across the pedestrian bridge, visited the nearby cabin, walked along the Eno River, and even saw a great blue heron.
Overall a very nice place to explore! (The 'don't feed the ticks' sign was pretty amusing also)

Wow! Just when I thought the American Tobacco Trail was my favorite trail in the area, I discovered the Eno River State Park trails! Yesterday, I explored the Cox Mountain Trail and just a bit of Fanny’s Ford Trail. This is an uneven terrain, a nature trail, full of surprises- dirt, rocks, mud, grassland and even animals and snakes (I encountered a small, green one- see attached). There’s also a river; it wasn’t deep. There was a point in which I decided to join the kids (who were playing in the water) and crossed to the other side of the river. My group and I actually managed to get through the jumble of rocks (I don’t recommend this approach- painful on the soles of your feet) instead of using a nearby bridge! I observed people cooking out (plenty of picnic tables), resting on hammocks, having professional photoshoots, walking their dogs, getting a tan (bikini season) and/or actively hiking- as myself. 😊 There are also visitor rest areas, which include restrooms, parking and water fountains. In a nutshell, I highly suggest you tour these trails if you’re into hiking. The trail offers great scenery and is physically challenging to hike!

This is a great place to take short/long walks. The terrain isn't too steep. Kids and older adults can take these trails without worrying about if it may be too difficult. Some of the trails are long, i think the longest is 4 miles. So, bring water, snacks, and camera. No restrooms on the trail, so go before you trek. The landscape and scenery around the river is phenomenal. I been here twice. Definitely going back!!! 👍👍👍

I went on the First Day Hike for 2024 today. The Eno River State Park organized the event well. There are two different hikes. The long hike is 4 miles and the short hike is 2 miles. At the end of the hike, everyone got a cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows. Thank you to all of the volunteers for making this event fun and enjoyable.

Great length for an afternoon hike. Has some changes in elevation, but it's not too difficult. Offers some great views.

Beautiful hike along the Eno River. Easy walking but will be very muddy after rain. Well maintained. Nice bathrooms and visitor center. A state park jewel.

This is around a 4.5-mile loop with a moderate level of hiking and walking. It's a very good hike, even for beginners, but definitely needs to put on good hiking shoes.

Paved parking lot with limited parking that fills up quick on nice days. Clean restrooms. Trails are well marked with different color blazes.

I seen the picture of the bridge and instantly wanted to visit this place. I was little scared walking across the bridge because I don’t really care for heights. Overall, it was a fun experience and to see the water run through the rocks was so relaxing. If you’re ever in the area, please visit.

A weekly habit I can't live without. Want to feel better - go for a 4 mile walk and let nature soothe your soul.

Cox Mountain Trailhead is a beautiful mountain. And there's so many things to see. Out of all the places I've hiked and walked, this is the busiest one yet. There was so many people there. I saw men, women, kids, older people, and people of every color and backgrounds. I heard language in a couple different languages bring spoke. Couples walking thier dogs, a man fishing in the river, and people playing in the water. The suspension bridge is my favorite. Fanny Ford's cabin is still in tact along w/ the greenery she must have planted while there. She was a slave that became a mid-wife for women up and down the river. She must have made quite a bit of money b/c the cabin had 3 full rooms including kitchen, front porch and back porch. It was located by the river. Her property must have been what she imagined while a slave.
The trails wind around for hours. I couldn't finish in one day but I will finish eventually. I'd say this is the perfect place to take your children, parents, husband/wife and your animals.
