Hills Point Resort

A great place to get away on the shore of Lake Huron. We camped there in our travel trailer, and had water and electric hook up. They have boats to rent to go fishing or tour around the islands. The hospitality from the owners is the best.

This is mostly a cabin-rental resort but has a few large back-in RV spaces. Right on the waters of Lake Heron. I never knew just how big the Great Lakes were before now. Wow!!

The new owners, Chris and Christine are fabulous! We got a one-on-one tour of the place. We learned that it has been in operation since 1937!! The owners have redone the cabins and are upgrading lots of things. They added a couple of spacious bathrooms with big shower stalls and are spiffing the ace up.

Row boats, canoes and kayaks are provided free for your use during your stay. We used a row boat and took it pretty far out.

There are fire pits in various places. We had a private one at our site but there are communal pits too right at the beach. I noticed they provide wood for those free of charge.

BOOK WAY WAY AHEAD. Some families have been coming here for decades...renting the same cabin year after year. If you RV, consider booking far ahead if you can. We were truly fortunate to get a last-minute site. All others were taken.

We would stay here again.

Don't let the seemingly simple accommodations keep you from discovering the unique advantages of the place - beach toys from paddle boards, to jet skis, boats, and a giant inflated bouncing tire for kids, all for rent, so no need to bring anything! If you want a quiet respite from your busy life, this is your place. Relax on the little porch overlooking the lake, take a short 1.5 mile drive into town for fresh perch at a table on the water, stroll nearby for the huge selection of ice cream sundaes, and come back to a seat on the deck to watch the sunset. A one of a kind getaway.

This is our 3rd year going, and we always have a great time. From the patoon rental, to kayaking, to swimming in the nice shallow waters with white sanding beaches, and camp fires at night there, there is always something to do! Hills Point Resort is owned and operated by the family and are so kind and gracious! Very accommodating

This family owned resort is run by some of the nicest people on earth. On top of that, the resort is small (perfect size, really), quiet, kid friendly and has a spectacular view. We cannot wait to come back here again and/or visit one of their other RV resorts.

When I went to rent a boat for exploring the Les Cheneaux Islands I knew it was going to be awesome. However, this experience was twice as great as I was expecting. Not only was the boat perfect for what I was hoping for, but Chris went above and beyond in working with our schedule and sharing cool, out of the way spots, we could visit. This is the very best way to experience the islands. The 70hp Mercury outboard really scooted and the boat was very comfortable and easy to navigate. Can't wait to come back.

Super friendly staff, cool little place to camp, views are beautiful! Chris is a great camp host, super helpful! On the busiest weekend of the year, still calm, cool and collected.

Chris is proof that there are still good people left in the world. We were stranded on the lake after the boat died. He came to the rescue and saved us, fixed the boat and went about his business. He made our Labor Day vacation so great. Oh and his rentals are beautiful too! With a cozy little beach they are the nicest in the area.

We rented a pontoon from hills resort. Chris was awesome and so helpful! Even responded to my text about weather conditions when we were out. Pontoon offered a great day for my family with swimming and sight seeing. The map on board is awesome!

This is our second time visiting, and not the last. The cabins are adorable. I love the lake breeze and the sound of the waves in the morning. We enjoyed meeting new friends, sitting around the fire pit, kayaking, fishing and the sunsets were amazing. Chris and Michelle (manager's) are very helpful they're always busy keeping the place up, but take time to socialize and make sure your visit is smooth. My pregnant wife and I had the most wonderful experience recently at hills point resort. We've been here for almost 3 weeks now and the peacefulness, amazing sunsets, the empathetic and always helpful manager and owner of the place have provided a much needed break when we needed it the most! Our dog has had the time of his life, we've kayaked, ridden boats, fished, grilled amazing meals and met some great people. The cabins are clean due to the dedicated diligence of their cleaning woman, Lou, Roger the manager has gone out of his way to be accommodating and its obvious that the owner of the place cares about the comfort of his guests! A definite vacation hideaway that we will enjoy for years to come!

My husband’s family have been coming to Hills Point Resort for over 60 years. Yes 60 years and he’s 67. Rustic cabins right on the water with beach, water toys, and boats to rent. They have it all. Kitchenettes are good. You need to bring towels, personal items like soaps. They have dishes and silverware and cooking pans. The grocery store has all the food you’ll need. Restaurant have everything you crave on vacation and Ice cream parlor is always busy. Come up north and enjoy a week you’ll will always remember the time you had.

Asked new owner, Chris, if we could hold a memorial there to bury my mom nearby. Not only did he host our event, but he made room for us to stay 2 nights and even gave a ride for our elderly relative in his golf cart to the burial location. He went above and beyond for us. He and his family are welcoming and very hardworking.

Quaint little cottages with great beachfront and plenty to entertain yourself with. Excellent spot for relaxation and reading a good book. Invested owners looking to make memories more than money.
The cottages are quaint as mentioned - this means they are not mansions. They are meant to have a nostalgic feeling that keeps you coming back for more. Each cottage has 2 bedrooms usually consisting of a double bed in each but sometimes one double and one bunk bed. There is a bathroom with shower stall, a couch, a chair and a TV. Wifi is in every cabin. The kitchen has all amenities including an apartment sized stove and coffee pot.
Kitchen towels and bedding are provided. What you forget can easily be provided if you simply ask or there is a Dollar General and Family Dollar in town and a grocery store.
A fishing dock on site and a fishing pier within a quick walk and a fish cleaning station. Boats are available to rent. Kayaks are provided for guest use along with a paddle boat and a swim dock for the kids. There is also a game room in the loft of the garage with pool and Foosball table for the rainy days. Volleyball court and grills onsite.
There are bonfire pits and lawn chairs that are on the sandy beach.
Laundry facilities available for those times you simply HAVE to get some laundry on-site.
Pet-friendly.
All around, this makes an excellent vacation spot only 30 minutes from the Mackinaw Bridge.

We showed up on a whim and ended up in U.P. heaven. Every cabin has beachfront property with paddleboards, paddleboards, kayaks, sailboats- you name it at your disposal. Very casual family friendly atmosphere. Michelle was so accommodating! She even held an impromptu birthday party for someone staying in another cabin and offered ice cream to everyone. The cabins are rustic and homey. We loved it!

AMAZING EXPERIENCE!!!! Every day was amazing and beautiful, my kids were well intertained by the swim raft in the beautiful lake, and not to mention there were ADORABLE and tame goats free to pet. Free kayaks for anybody to use, and amazing sunset views from outside your cabin window. I will definitely come back for years to come!!!!

Looking for the best way to see the Les Cheneaux Islands? Stop by Hills Point Resort to rent a boat and cruise "the channel". This is a great little getaway for those who want to enjoy time with their family on the beach or in the water. Free use of paddle boats, row boats, Kayaks, and motor boats for rent. Stay for a week in their cute, rustic cabins furnished with modern appliances, a full kitchen and a full bathroom. The deck is on the beach and the water steps away. Great family fun! And fishing... Wow!

An amazing place to spend the week and hang out with family. The Staff there are as helping as can be. The Cabins are on the small side but its amazing to sit and watch the sunset over the water. See you next time hills point resort!

The camp hosts are one in million awesome! They want your stay to be the best! My only wish is that the grass would have been cut to cut down on bugs but everything else was perfect!
