Visiting the Laurent House was an absolute delight! Our docent John did a wonderful job of showing us the house and answering any questions the group had; as a retired architect, he offered a wonderful perspective. I'm thankful the Foundation is taking such good care of the house and sharing it with visitors--which is just what the Laurents would want. Make sure you buy tickets from the Foundation's website ahead of time.

Had a great time there! The volunteer guide was knowledgeable, fun and friendly. It was nice to hear how the owner and Frank Lloyd Wright design and renovate the house through out their long stay at the resident. The house is beautifully preserved and maintained as well.

Quite interesting. Different from the other wright houses I've visited. Most have been prairie style. Built to accommodate wheelchair. Amazing design. Owned by one family so original furniture intact. Great tour guide. As she explained what we were viewing, I came to realize how well thought out and amazing this architecture was! Much information shared. All questions answered. I'd recommend. Felt it was worth the entry fee. Bought advance ticket and we started on time. It was in December, so house was decorated with family's items from back in the day 🤩

An amazing house. It looks so simple from the carport and then you go inside. The master at work. Perfectly preserved. Excellent docent. Great story. We went as a package tour with Anderson Gardens. If you have any interest in architecture, do not miss it.

Apparently not well-frequented, this museum is a wonderful tour into a wheelchair-accessible Frank Lloyd Wright house. The stories of the original family and their experiences with Wright are well-told and heart touching, and the fact that this house was kept by the original owners for its entire existence lends to its pristine condition as an example of custom, single-family design by the architect. Definitely worth the visit to Rockford!

This was a very interesting house as it was designed for a guy confined to a wheel chair. Great scheduled tour of this house that lasted about an hour. It was led by two very knowledgeable guides. I recommend seeing this house.

A wonderful piece of art and history. The staff are great and really care about the facility. I learned about Frank Lloyd Wright and this important part of his legacy and how form and function can apply to folks with different abilities. It's a beautiful home.

The docents make the history come alive! I really felt like I knew the Laurent family and I was their guest. I loved that some of their personal items were displayed and it honored their memory.
If you have seen many Frank Lloyd Wright properties you will find this one smaller and less grand than some but, it is homey and has its unique characteristics.

The Laurent House is a true gem. It’s perfectly preserved because it had only one owner before becoming a museum. My docent Larry was terrific, well informed and clearly in love with the property. Charming gift shop with an equally charming staff that can make recommendations for lunch at Anderson Gardens and to stop by Wright’s Pettit Chapel en route home to Chicago. Highly recommend this memorable tour!

Such an interesting house, I wish there were more homes like this one now of days. We did the guided tour and it lasted an hour. The house has so many cool things but the garden was my favorite. Definitely worth it. They have a small gift shop at the visitors center with some cool stuff.

A gem of a Frank Lloyd Wright Usonian home built for a wheelchair-bound client in post WWII America. Highly recommend!!

Like all Wright designed buildings open to the public, this was in use until 2012- which is the year in time of any restoration. The furnishings are beautiful. As with all his clients, Wright was friends with the Laurent’s, working together on the designs and furnishings. The hardware is original to the house, supplied by Laurent who worked at Rockford’s National Lock.

As in all historic home tours, one must pre-book a tour at scheduled times, $25 per person. (A bargain for a Wright home) The tour is led by a knowledgeable docent, describing the ‘why’ behind Wright’s design choices for this, his only home for a wheel-chair bound client.

The tour is just around an hour in length, wear comfortable shoes. The tour is accessible for those who are mobility challenged.

Hidden in a suburban neighborhood, this "little gem" (Wright's term) is just that. Basically billed as Wright's only home designed for a disabled client, it is that and so much more. A Usonian half semi-circle whose arc was scribed from a local cherry tree, the vison, materials, methods and lasting preservation are well worth your time.

Additionally, the depth of knowledge your docent will provide will expand your own while and be entertaining at the same time.

If you visit, call first to set up your visit, there wasn't anyone there when we drove up. However, staff who answered the phone quickly set up a time for the docent to meet us there at a time that was convenient for us.

Well worth your time and money, if you are a Wright fan or just into mid-century architecture.

Unique home loved by the owners. Met people who knew them and shared stories, it's a small but special home.

There's a nice story of the family behind WHY the Laurent House came to be. The docent-guided tour was enlightening and the home really is beautiful and a good example of FLWs Usionian concept. Help the organization out by stopping in the gift shop, too!
