Dr.Thrall, Melissa, and the whole team were compassionate, caring, and supportive during our emergency for our pup. Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with bloat and we needed to consider his quality of life after just having a forelimb amputation just months prior due to osteosarcoma. We were given a possible care plan and asked the doctor any questions/concerns we had. Everything was explained really well from the first phone call to the end… Having to make that difficult decision was made easier by this team. They helped us put our fur baby to sleep with dignity and compassion. We will recommend them to anyone for emergencies.

My husband and I rushed our sweet old man to the AEC on 5/13. Harley was there the day before because he was lethargic and not eating. He was diagnosed a week ago with heart failure. Although I believe all the meds he was on for his heart had something to do with his body shutting down so quickly, we took him in because he began having back to back seizures, which he had never experienced. He was brought in right away and given an IV with Valium. Dr. Thrall came out and spoke to us telling us he thinks something neuro and can refer him. I asked him if letting him go would be the best, and he gently agreed telling us at his age of 15 (he was rescused when he was between 2 and 3 and his date of birth was unknown so he could have been as old as 18) his heart condition, his refusal to eat anything and he hadn't urinated in 10 hours, that the likelihood he would recover is very low. They were so kind and gave us all the time with our sweet boy. They wrapped him in a warm soft blanket and we were right there holding his tiny paw telling him over and over and over how much we love him and thanking him for rescuing us until he took his final breath. I am in the deep throws of grief over the loss of my best friend and my husband reassures me multiple times a day that we did the right thing. He has been my constant for 15 years and I don't know how I will navigate my life without him. I am grateful though for the compassion and kindness we were shown. Thank to the doctor, vet techs and staff. We love you and miss you so much Harley❤

My normal vet was not able to see Blue after he started showing some pretty concerning symptoms so I brought him here. The staff and the Dr. were all very kind to us and explained all options and results thoroughly. Sadly, Blue’s kidneys had failed, and given his condition a very hard decision had to be made.
I cannot thank everyone at the clinic enough for the care and comfort they gave to Blue and to me. I was absolutely heartbroken, but they were nothing but patient and kind. They also made Blue’s comfort the main priority. They gave me as much time as I needed with him before and after he crossed the bridge.
I will forever miss my big buddy Blue 💔 Pet lovers know and understand that sometimes we have to do what is best for the animal. It doesn’t make it any easier when that time actually comes. These people understand and make this process as comforting for you and the animal as possible. Blue passed comfortably surrounded by love. I will always be grateful to this clinic for helping me give that to him.

I have taken my cat Natasha here twice now over the past month due to a bladder infection. The wait times are long sometimes because the place is so busy. But I have always been greeted by the nicest people and everyone seemed so patient and kind, and apologetic about the waiting. I would trust this place in an emergency again and again, and they even helped me figure out a way to pay the bill. Emergency services are expensive, and when you're in an ER waiting room, even for humans, it seems like it takes forever. But the staff at Animal Emergency Clinic is so great, and helpful. You can call them any time of day or night and that is nice to have peace of mind when my regular vet is closed. I would highly recommend keeping Animal Emergency Clinic's phone number stored in your phone for times when your pet is ill or hurting and you can't get into your regular vet. The people there will do their best to take care of your pet. I promise.

This was my first emergency vet visit so I called before bringing my dog in and the lady I spoke to was so kind, helpful and got us checked in. Once we were there we were taken to an exam room, rather quickly, but the waiting area was pretty empty so that may have been the reason. However, the staff was amazing and extremely understanding. Oli was taken care of and treated nicely, even though he was barking like crazy. Overall, they were very professional and we will be going back to this facility if we have another emergency.

My dogs situation wasn't *exactly* an emergency, but definitely a scare. Their normal vet couldn't see them and I was able to bring them in here. The girls working the front desk were great, even took all their info while I drove so it was done when I got there. Doctor was informative and cautious, one of mine is expecting. Prices were fair & my dogs will heal. I've never had to come to an emergency vet but if ever a case again, this will be my first call. (After normal vet of course)

Thank you!

My English bulldog passed away November 26th. I was not expecting this. My mother called to talk to them . Because it was on a Saturday and I was in no shape to talk . He passed away at 1:05 that afternoon. I kept him with me for as long as I could. Jack passed away in my arms. We got there a little after midnight. The two ladies that came out to get him. Were so compassionate. They handled his body with care and respect. I'm sorry I can't remember names . I was so distraught. The lady at the desk was completely awesome. Caring empathic. They even let me give him his stuffed animal. I just want to thank all of you so much. Arlington cemetery picked his body up Tuesday. I was fortunate to see him before they cremated him. And I got his stuffed toy back. I can't think you enough for all your kindness. And making a paw print for me. And taking mold pictures of his paws and nose. And thank you for the card. The entire staff signed it. .

Brought my boy in for an abscessed lump and absolutely everybody on staff made me feel so safe and reassured. Everybody was so kind to us and so sweet with him. I called absolutely terrified, and to see the way the staff and Dr Thrall handled my big guy was so reassuring. So thankful to have had such a kind group of people to care for my baby.

We had to rush our cat to Rockford Emergency Vet last night due to a severe unexpected health problem and they were incredible, kind, and deeply compassionate. Though our girl did not survive the night, they were gentle and walked us through all our options and every step with such tender hearts that we truly felt they were grieving right alongside us. They made a horrible situation into a peaceful one, the best they could have done for us and our baby. I will always recommend this location for anyone who needs emergency care for their beloved animals-they care as much as you do.

My family has used this location twice. Once for a post op complication after neutering and the most recent for euthanasia of our 13 year old dog. We have received nothing but perfect, compassionate and informative care. I will use them for any urgent needs our pets have and highly recommend to others.

We brought in our cat who we think had a stroke. She was not doing well when we brought her in. They told us to go home and would update us in the night. They did everything they could to keep her alive long enough for us to come back in to say our last goodbyes and make the call to let her go. I could tell how much they all cared during that unbearable time, they allowed us time with our deceased family member and gave us gifts and cards the following week. Very thankful for how they treated us in such a hard time.

This was my initial visit to this establishment. The staff demonstrated utmost respect and professionalism in their interactions with both myself and my canine companion. Their exceptional customer service was evident in the comprehensive manner in which they elucidated the procedure for euthanizing my dog. I recommend this place to everyone.

I was here on Wednesday and had to make the difficult choice of putting my best friend of almost 19 years to rest. The staff helped me and my beautiful boy with such care and comfort. They made sure my baby was in comfy blankets and was warm in his final moments. I couldn't of asked for his journey to the rainbow bridge in a better way. The doctor was very gentle and straight forward about my chihuahua's condition which I greatly appreciated. I didn't want him to suffer anymore. I received such care that I still cry thinking about it. Thank you for the beautiful card and the footprint keepsake. I will cherish them forever!!

We sadly had to bring in our labs to cross the rainbow bridge. One was 18, the other 15. After having an awful experience with another vet that didn’t give my sheepdog something to relax first, we watched as his body shut down. Even after being VERY specific that I wanted him asleep first! This has happened 2ce in our long history of dog ownership. I will never take my dogs anywhere else for this kind of thing. It’s so hard enough without seeing the suffering or seizures—in addiction to a permanent goodbye.
We were able to bring in our other dog just a pup with us. This made it so much better having all of us together.
This place has been a blessing on the hardest days. I’m beyond grateful.

Brought our dog in because she was peeing frequently and our regular vet was closed for the weekend. They saw us quickly and diagnosed our dog with bladder stones that would require a surgery. They answered all our questions, were very open about the expected costs and the price difference between having it done now or waiting for our regular vet. They gave us space to discuss the options and when we decided to have the surgery done that day they were quick to assist us getting our dog checked in, my dog was happy to go with the staff and we felt very comfortable leaving her there. They called to update us on how she was doing and we were able to pick her up the next morning. Our dog healed quickly and is already mostly back to normal. The staff was fantastic and we greatly appreciated their kindness during this stressful experience.

The staff at this clinic took amazing care of my sweet boy Gauge. I can’t thank enough for taking care of him. The staff was always able to give me updates no matter how often I called. They were honest and up front with his care options, best way to move forward, and pricing. I highly recommend this clinic and team. ♥ Thank you from Gauge!

My cat fell and hurt his leg at 10:30 p.m. on a Friday, I live in Jo Daviess county and have limited options for emergency vets. Animal Emergency Clinic of Rockford was the sixth place I called, and it was such a relief when they said they would take him. My dog is very dependent and couldn't be left at home alone, they said it was fine to bring her as well. Even though it took 2 hours to get there, I was relieved when they greeted me, reassured me, and took my poor boy. I desperately needed sleep, and they held onto him while I rested in a nearby hotel. They took such good care of him, and they very patiently explained to me how to care for him after fixing his leg. Even my dog enjoyed being there! I hope I never have to go there again but I'm grateful they're there!

I took my dog in this week because of an eye issue after he was taken to his primary and things didn’t get better. It looked like there was a golf ball under his eye lid. Dr. Ream did tests on him to see if he had glaucoma and it came out that he did. We left with medications and a recommendation that we were to get it checked out the following day. My usual primary did not have the materials to do the tests that my dog needed. I called almost every vet in Rockford and had no hope that anyone besides dr ream would help. With that being said despite the charge just to walk in the door I went back the next day for my dog and she took time to make sure my baby was ok. Despite all efforts to save the eye he had surgery to remove it done by Dr Ream and I couldn’t be more happy with the care that I received from her. I am so grateful that she was willing and able to help me in this time of need. If I had to pick any vet to bring him to in a time of need I would choose this one just because of Dr ream ! THANK YOU AGAIN !

We said goodbye to our 7 year old greyhound at AEC after a brief but devastating illness. The entire staff was caring and compassionate. The veterinarian (I'm sorry I don't recall her name) was honest about our boy's condition, and presented it all to us very gently. She stated she was willing to try to treat his immune mediated hemolytic anemia, but that the likelihood of him surviving the very expensive and extensive treatment was just about zero. I've since read up on IMHA, and consulted with friends who've faced the same diagnosis with their dogs, and I am glad the AEC veterinarian advised us as she did. We were allowed to say goodbye for as long as we needed. Nobody rushed us. I hope you never need to take your pet to AEC, but if you do, your pet will be in good hands.
