This is our last trip to Augusta as our kids will be moving away. What a great way to recap the area! I had no idea Augusta was the birthplace of so many celebrities. Great selection of history they pop culture. It was my Mother’s Day treat! Highly recommend! Absolutely a great value!

Great museum to show and tell the history of Augusta. Much bigger and better than I expected before going. Every visitor to Augusta needs to come here!

Truly an amazing display of objects associated with the history and growth of Augusta...the James Brown exhibit was truly a well put together tribute to an amazing performer who not only shared his talents with the world but kept his life roots strong within his own community of Augusta. I would recommend this to families trying to express the importance of equality and what we can accomplish as individuals
I was a bit disappointed they didn't have much tourist merchandise such as t shirts or postcards...they only had buttons and magnets

What an amazing little gem in Augusta. Been here for over 25 yrs and never knew this was here. I was just looking for something my 90 yr old Dad would be interested in. We both really enjoyed it. And it’s deceivingly very big! We didn’t get a chance to go to the 2nd floor, but the first floor was truly amazing and well done !

We thoroughly enjoyed the museum and all of the artifacts, history, and interactive exhibits. I learned a lot and so did the kids. It's definitely a place to experience and learn so much history about Augusta for all ages.

This place was awesome, we were first greeted by a very nice man at the front desk. We learned a lot about Augusta Ga culture and history. We went on a Sunday evening and it was very peaceful. We were there for about 2 and a half hours. I really would like to bring my whole family next time around.

This last visit wasn’t to go through the museum. We went for Lego house display.
They have gingerbread houses in the fall and they did the Lego. I don’t know if they always do it. This is the first I knew of it. It was very cool.

On the regular mail all through it is amazing as well. There is so much to see with lots of information and history given. Even a theater with history documentary playing at times. Several train cars. An actual river boat. It has two levels. There is also a big James Brown section. He was from the area.

We used to go at least once a year but haven’t been back for a while except to see the houses. Which was free.

The Augusta Museum of History basically has it all. Whether you're looking for the world's most comprehensive James Brown exhibit, a fascinating journey through the history of golf, some jaw-dropping car and train history, and/or an extensive collection of artifacts that tell a more complete story of the State of Georgia, you have to come here and see it for yourself. Even if you don't think you're a "big museum person", you'll find plenty of cool stuff for everyone to enjoy.

I shot a wedding here and it was magical! Great adequate space and the history here is awesome. Definitely would love to shoot here again. Hosting a wedding here isn't expensive. I recommend 100%!

Great museum with lots to see. You can spend hours in this place and still not see everything. I especially liked the train and trolley exhibits. Some areas could definitely use some updating, but they were still informative none the less.

My mother and I had a great experience at the Augusta Museum. There was so much information that I did not even know about Augusta. It was pretty cool!

Love this place! It's so affordable (4$ for 6 & up, FREE under 6yrs). I take my son a few times a year and pay 4$ so he can climb inside the authentic train car, trolley, and river boat. He loves pretending to drive the gold cart and I love reading about the different parts of Augusta history each time we go. I'm still finding new information 2 years later! It's very clean and well presented, with different areas for different eras. All the way from prehistoric times to modern golfing history and everything in between. The people who work there are so above and beyond helpful and friendly too. When we first moved here, the lady at the information desk told us all about Augusta suburbs, school zones, restaurants, attractions, local business, and more. She gave us a bag full of helpful pamphlets and brochures too. We take visitors to the museum all the time too- especially since it's right across the street from the Riverwalk and riverboat ride attractions.

We only had an hour here, but it was worth the price of admission. Well laid out, descriptive of Augusta history and the people of the region. James Brown exhibit and train exhibit are worth it by themselves. Kids will love boarding the train and trolley car. Golf history, too.

Good information, very well laid / displayed. Guided tour guide for the railway provided good details on the evolution of the rail. Tobacco & Cotton trade, Spanish-French-& British colonies, so many celebrities from Augusta...took about 2 hrs and ticket $5. Unfortunately, there's no cafe or any food service onsite.

This museum really packs a punch for the space that it occupies! Loved the pre-colonial and colonial history exhibits and the one on James Brown. It seemed we just kept discovering new stuff and ended up spending a full 2 hours that flew by. Went with my wife, in-laws, and teenage son and we all enjoyed it!

We saw James Brown's Maylox. 5 out of 5.

EXCELLENT museum packed to the roof with neat stuff. Was not expecting the train and trolley cars. The James Brown exhibit is a must see. Being from out of state and learning so much of Augusta's history was a great experience. For the value, time, and accessibility, we can't recommend this place enough.
So happy we stopped in here after stumbling by it waiting to kill time before another attraction. I can't think of a better way to "kill time" than a great museum.
