I cannot say enough about how spectacular Michelle is! She was incredibly informative on the best way to care for my girl’s hair. She used and recommended high quality organic products, but never tried to sell me on anything and helped keep my budget in mind! She took her time on my girl’s thick, curly hair and was incredibly patient with my 2.5 year old who was scared of haircuts until today!! I’m so happy & relieved to have finally found a place that takes the time to teach me about my girl’s gorgeous hair and was so personable! It is absolutely worth it to try out Michelle's salon- I'm so glad I did and I'll absolutely be back.

Michelle is great with our little girl. She's shy and not real sure about the salon experience. She doesn't really like anyone touching her hair past family. That being said, she allowed Michelle to do her thing. Michelle was so calm and soothing, she is really good at finding the shape the hair wants to be. She not only goes through the motions, she educates as she's working through the curls. Highly recommend her for anyone who has curls or has someone they care for that has curls.

What a relief to find a stylist knowledgeable about different types of curls! In addition to giving me a dry cut, Michele spent a lot of time making sure I knew about the right way to care for and style my hair. She’s also very kind and down to earth.

Michelle is an amazing person and curly hair specialist. I had damaged my hair with colors and treatments in the past. I finally decided to rock my curls but I was lost until I decided to see Michelle. She gave my first Curly haircut, she taught me more about my hair than anybody else had before. I’ve made a lot of progress in the 8 months I’ve been following her advise. I call her my hair doctor and she has yet to let me down in any way. Michelle never pushes products on you, has fair pricing, is very communicative, and has her clients best interests at heart.

i know what you're thinking... $400 is a lot of money for that first appt. maybe this is your first or fourth time reading through reviews trying to decide if this is worth it and whether you should pull the trigger. you're thinking, "i've been to so many curly hair cuts and it's never been what i want so will this be any different??"

michelle is one of the nicest hair stylists i've ever had the pleasure of sitting down with. she walks you through every step of the process, gives you a mirror so you can see what she's doing, allows you to feel your hair texture so you know what to look for when youre doing it yourself. the whole appointment was so informative, so helpful, and helped me dispel a lot of myths i had about my hair from all the content i've searched out over the years. the experience felt so catered to me and my hair as opposed to just going through the same steps you'd do for any curly head sitting in a salon chair.

when i left the appointment with hair that looked fantastic, no re-styling on my end needed, i knew i found my girl

so yeah, book that consultation. michelle will get you where you need to be and it'll be worth it.

Michelle is the best curly hair specialist I've ever had the privilege of working with. I have very temperamental type 3 curly hair that is in perpetual war against the NC humidity. Michelle was the first stylist that took the time to actually listen to me, not push a billion types of specialty products, and gave me a wonderful haircut that looks great even as it grows out. Before I found Michelle I tried a good number of other salons and stylists in the RDU area, including a well known high end salon, all of whom left me with a frizzy mop that worked to conceal a bad haircut. Michelle was the exact opposite. She's kind, listens, and actually cares about her clients. Truly one of a kind, and I recommend her to anyone who has curly hair.

I moved to the NC area 1.5 years ago, and have been in search of a curly hair specialist. I have been investing in curly cuts for approximately 6 years, and have struggled to find a stylist as good as the folks I worked with in Miami at The Curl Whisper (trained in Deva, Rezos, Ouidad, etc). After a botched curly cut with another curly stylist in the area, I genuinely considered traveling to Miami to see my regular stylist. Fortunately, I found Michelle who is just as skilled. She is also an absolute delight to be around. If you are in search of a real curly stylist that knows how to cut and style (my day 3 curls were STILL defined and beautiful), she's your person.

As a curly girl, it is really import to find a stylist that #1 -- knows how to work with curly and/or textured hair, and #2 -- actually LOVES natural, curly hair and SHOWS it. I have gotten haircuts from Michelle several times now and she always does an amazing job. It has been a long journey trying to find a stylist I can trust to handle my hair properly. Pro tip-- don't go to a salon that *claims* to know curly hair but has no evidence to support that! I 100% recommend Michelle for anyone with curly hair who is still searching for a go-to stylist! (this picture is from a haircut long ago with Michelle, I am way overdue for a cut, but COVID-19 is happening so it can wait)

I have been going to see Michelle for curly cuts since 2019. She always understands what I need/want from her in a visit and I feel comfortable with her taking the reins. She is a wealth of knowledge about curly hair and products and I highly recommend her to anyone seeking an expert in the area!

That alone changed the game for me, because my curly hair wakes up moody, EVERYday.

Michelle is a curl professional, period. She doesn’t just know curls, or work well with curls. Michelle takes the time to listen to your hair journey and goals and bridges the gap to help you get your hair there. Definitely worth alllll the coins if you need help getting your natural hair back healthy. Or, even if you have healthy hair but just want a custom curated cut!

Michelle is amazing and is truly a professional. She takes the time to get to know you, your routine, and your hair which was something so important to me when I found her because I was just starting the Curly Girl Method and had no idea what a DevaCut was versus other cuts. She always does an incredible job and is thorough and thoughtful with her time and her services. Going to her isn’t just getting your hair done, it’s learning how to better care for your hair and yourself. So glad I found her!

Michelle is a curl genius! I won’t let anyone else touch my curls anymore. She is meticulous with her cuts and knows what she’s doing. When you go in for a trim, she gives you a trim. There is nothing worse than being a curly girl asking for a trim and leaving with inches missing. She will put life back into your curls, will shape it to perfection and your curls will be juicy, happy and full of bounce leaving. She’s the best, period.

Michelle is the best hairdresser I’ve ever had. She knows what she’s doing, I get a perfect cut every time, she’s fun to be around and talk to, the list goes on. I feel special going to her because she is a curl specialist and I have stuck straight hair, but she still always seems to be happy to see me and give me the perfect cut.
I’ve followed her through a couple different salons and am so happy for her to have her own space now. I once told her that as long as she doesn’t move across the country, I’ll follow her wherever she goes!
