Just played at the opening day of the 12 court pickleball facility. The courts are great to play on and many thanks to the DPR staff and DAPP members involved for making these courts available for the community!

The new 12 dedicated pickleball courts at Piney are superb!

Great venue for pickleball! They have 12 courts that were in perfect shape. With so many courts there’s not a lot of waiting time between games.

We found this park kind of by accident, but what a great find! I had gone to Perkins Orchard then looked in maps for a nearby park to take the kids and this popped up. It's a fun little park with lots of shade! It's next to a dog park as well so my kids were excited to see the dogs go by and watch them play. There's also some picnic tables and benches so it would be a great place for a lunch outing. Next time I'm over in Durham I'll definitely be back to this nice little spot!

My kid loved it. It's nice and shaded so it's great for hot, sunny days. There is a good amount of playground equipment for a good range of ages. Several slides of different sizes, etc. The ground is a nice mulchy substance so it's not so scary for new walkers. Of course when it gets busy you have bigger kids playing too so if yours is wobbly like mine you still need to stay close, but it's laid out pretty well so it's not too hard to chase and get around.

And if your kid is like mine and likes to play with things that are not toys, the trees drop pinecones and there is a trash can nearby, as well as a few nice benches. We must have thrown out fifteen pinecones while we were there.

There is a lot of space for dogs and at least one fenced area, and it seems pretty popular for the canine set too.

Great kids playground with lots to do and a nice mix of shaded areas and sunny areas. There's almost always kids their for your child to play with. It's also right next to a very nice dog park which my daughter likes to observe from the edge of the park through the fence. There is public restrooms, benches and 2 picnic areas

We love this park! It’s tucked back in the trees so kind of hard to find at first, but when you turn into the park, take a left and it’ll lead you to the parking lot. What makes this a gem is the outdoor/woods space. Folks have built forts and bridges with old logs and kids enjoy playing in them and rearranging the logs to make new structures. It’s so fun to see kids play in this environment!
Flush toilets are open for the warmer months.

great dog park with plenty of room to run and explore under the trees, doesn’t get as muddy and flooded as Northgate’s dog park did

Piney Wood Dog Park is great. I like how it is very convenient to me location wise and I really appreciate the fact that there are multiple gated off sections of the dog park so my dog can play with dogs his size and going to other gated locations if we choose to. I have not had any issues there and I am very happy about that. The area itself is very large and you can really get the energy out of your dogs. It is truly a godsend.

As a dog park, it is very good. It has great trails and very open areas for dog lovers like me. It also has great areas for children and their families to have a great time. It is one of my favorite places in Durham.
I wanted to update my recent review so I decided to go to the park alone and just look around with a more critical mind, but my review stands, as Spring approaches, the park just welcomes everyone. It is a great park and BTW...tennis courts.

Absolutely love this dog park!! Do your dog a favor and take them there TODAY. Just moved to the area, went to all three dogs parks, in Durham, in one day. This one was hands down the best of them all. From the huge fenced in areas for both large and small dogs, there is also a fenced off area for frisbee/ball play. Someone donated a couple plastic little pools that are right next to a water hose to refill them or the numerous water bowls that have also been donated. Every time we go there are a bunch of dogs, from the owners to the dogs everyone has been so nice and friendly. Seriously went the next day after we found this place and I plan on taking my dog as much as I can. She gets so worn out playing and running with the other dogs. Almost forgot to mention the multiple picnic tables and plenty of trees and shade for you to relax at while your dog plays. There is also a couple sand boxes for the dogs to dig in as well. Such an awesome park, happy to join!!

The largest of DPR's dog parks, a great place to let our dog get his energy out! In addition to small and large dog areas, there's another fenced in area for training or otherwise separating dogs. We play in the large dog area, which is huge - lots of space to run! There are benches and shaded picnic tables. There are always lots of dogs, so great opportunities for socialization. Owners have been wearing masks, and there's plenty of room to distance.

This dog park is perfect!! They have 3 enclosed areas for the dogs to run around with some transition areas for people to take off the leash or avoid dogs from escaping. They have a nice watering area with a kiddie pool for the water loving dogs.

I would definitely recommend some bug spray but otherwise it so great!

There are some bathrooms outside of the dog area that are nice as well as some nice open areas to play around!

I have only visited Piney Wood for the dog park, but it is a great one! The dog park has a very large fenced in area for big dogs. They have a ton of water jugs you can fill up and faucets to do so, as well as a kiddie pool full of water for your dog to play in (or clean off in). There grassy areas and sandy areas, and ample dog cleanup stations too. Overall, everything you need!

I went there with my children and their grandparents early on a chilly Saturday morning. The playground was lovely, and the kids adored it. The dog run nearby was a bonus, and the kids ogled the big dogs. The setting is nicely wooded and well maintained. I'm sure it gets busier in warmer weather and later in the day, but even then it would be worth a visit.

We went for the dog park. It was a little bit of a walk from the parking to the inside of the dog area but it was grassy, shaded, large, and nice. The bag dispenser inside was out of bags but we had grabbed some at the entry so it wasn’t a big deal. Lots of room to throw a ball and had trees around to be in the shade or away from others.

Recommend this dog park and will be back.

Plenty of room for the dogs to get a full speed run. Also like how is split into multiple areas.

The playground is very nice, my 3 year old absolutely loved it! The bathrooms were typical park bathrooms, they work in a pinch but definitely try to avoid them if possible. Not much info about the dog park bc we don't have a dog but looked like a nice fenced in dog area with different areas for different sized dogs.
