First time visiting the park. The park views are more than enough to take in. The trails are nice and leveled which makes walking them a lot easier, and there’s so much to see. The scent from the plants and flowers made the trails refreshing, and I saw more birds in this park than any I’ve been in. I was in the area and decided to visit, and though it’s not far from where I stay, I wouldn’t mind visiting again. The park is so big that it doesn’t feel crowded even with others walking the trails as well. Great place to bird watch, especially if you’re into photography, or just get a good walk in.

Love coming here for a quick trail walk with baby. There are blackberry plants, baby geese, we saw a beautiful hawk and a great blue heron.

It's crazy that there is this marsh like place right off of 15-501...really makes you wonder what Durham was like before being developed and what it would be like if development took the natural environment into account.

This park is an unexpected breathtaking gem in Durham! Plentiful birdwatching! There are several trails, including a short looped trail that has a typically flooded section that is so fun to negotiate by stepping on the correct branch or log as you proceed forward. Waterproof hiking shoes/boots recommended.

Cool place and great small and simple trails for kids. I went during a summer weekend and it wasn’t crowded at all. Parking for about 20 cars. Has four picnic tables and two grills as well as a large open field in addition to all the trails. Bathrooms onsite.

Great park! There are paved trails and then "off-road" trails to choose from. It was nice to be able to bring the stroller on the paved, but a fun jog on the off-road parts. Nice little picnic area, bathrooms and a wide open field to let the kids run around.❤

Great little park with nice open field and trails (paved and dirt) all over. I love the variety of birds. There is a covered eating area and a gorgeous butterfly garden. It is not very busy either. My favorite place for walking the dogs.

This park has a lot of hiking variety from paved roads to wooded trails. Our kids have loved coming here since they were just learning to walk. Now that they are a bit older they love to race each other down the paths.

During the warmer months we've seen lizards, snapping turtles, herons, tadpoles, and even a family of deer.

Very nice trails for a dog walk. We were there 1/4/22, it was a bit moist, but not muddy (it snowed the day before). The main path was flooded out (check my photos) so we took the trail over the bridge on the left. Nice trail, though there are not any trail markers, it was pretty easy to follow. We meet a few other people, with dogs. Luckily they were on leashes! There are signs stating “Dogs must be on leash” . This is a good practice, safety for people, other dogs, and the natural environment you are in.
We will visit here again, because the trails were easy to walk, with bridges and boardwalks.
Because it was winter the restrooms were closed! And bikes are allowed.

LOVE this set of walking trails! Just moved here from Maine and this place is a hidden gem. Great paved trail and a bunch of other dirt paths off-shooting. Lots of super cool birds and lizards to check out. Plus dog friendly!!

What a great use of low lying/bog land. Beautiful native greenery and wild live.
Great habitat, easy walking trails, clean restrooms and butterfly way station.

Nice little park. Google said that there was fishing but just looked like nice place to hike or have a picnic.

Lovely park! My children loved the playground! It was very unique and up to date. We loved the story walk trails, and the lake was so peaceful. Nature lovers will appreciate this park as well. Plus the eating area had plenty of tables and benched and working water fountains. The restrooms were clean, which is always a bonus😉

Our 6-year-old was super excited to find the eastern box turtle and other creatures in this small park and we had fun overall visiting this neighborhood park/trails.

Beautiful natural area with a nice greenway and trail system. Trails circle a well established marshy pond area with a great diversity of birds and wildlife. Had a close encounter with a Great Blue Heron and saw Yellow Crowned Night Herons.

Perfect spot. I’m an avid birder and have spotted many rare species at this park — along with copperheads, snapping turtles, coyotes, and beaver. The park floods often, so wear shoes that can get dirty!

I love this park! It’s small yet comforting. Almost like a “Secret Garden”. This is a hidden gem right off the highway in Durham.

There is limited parking but a very nice area to walk around. You can hear the traffic while strolling so I just pretended it was water. Then I actually came across a little creek.

Ran into a family of Canadian Geese with their five chicks! Saw ducks and turtles and lots of butterflies. The air was sweet from honeysuckle and wild irises. It just felt magical walking the back trails where the grass seemed 5 feet tall.

Ate a picnic lunch, had a very good afternoon.

Lovely little park tucked away by 15/501. Excellent place to ride bikes with the kids.

This park is not far from my office and sometimes when I need to just get out and breathe fresh air, or enjoy waterfowl, or enjoy the butterfly garden, it is an exceptional respite. Just one of the many reasons why I love Durham North Carolina.
