Whitney's Bait & Tackle

A "must go" for anyone that comes here to fish. They have the live bait you need if you're fishing on your own. They have the best guides in the area if you want to go with a pro. An extensive amount of quality rods, reels, line, tackle and clothing to fit every need.

The guys there are very knowledgeable and experienced and you can tell they have a passion for what they do. I always used to buy live shrimp and other bait here and they were a great value

Super nice and knowledgeable young guys. They had everything we needed with lots of tips on how to get started fishing the island. Definitely a go-to anglers destination. We will be back!

We rented some fishing poles for a few days and they had everything set up for us! We also went their fishing charter and had such an amazing experience! Highly recommend to anyone looking for an exceptional adventure! Great people and great services!

Havent been since before Ian and it was nice to go. Super helpful and smiling service. I really like that they have a good selection of things an experienced fisherman would want and not just tourist stuff. Healthy lively bait, fair prices, smiling staff - win all around

Stopped at Whitney's to pick up bait and advice. Staff was very helpful. Got hooks, sinker weights, and shrimp bait. (Sinker weights have some lead content.) Wish we'd purchased a bobber for easy, relaxed fishing.

Whitney's was a fun stop. Prices are reasonable. Sweat shirts, souvenirs also available. Fishing is windy in January, so sweatshirt with hood desirable. No drinks, water, soda sold here. Entrance with wooden stairs.

We stay on Captiva via our yearly Timeshare Unit. This year bait was unavailable at SSP due to damaged bait tank and Jensens being closed for repairs. The staff at Whitney's are very friendly and welcoming. Our daughters boyfriend made several runs into Sanibel to purchase bait and other items from Whitney's. On our way off the island my husband, daughter and I made a pit stop for t-shirts. Jacob was very polite and easy to carry on a conversation with. The woman behind the register was great as well! I don't remember her name...my bad. But she was delightful 😊. We give them 2 thumbs up with a snap!!!

The prices are reasonable and the staff was very friendly and helpful. They genuinely want to ensure a pleasurable experience.

Awesome little store! Friendly, clean and probably has anything and more that you may need. I had to stop and shop on the way in and also on the way out.😂 We purchased snacks, bait and even a couple of souvenirs. Prices are reasonable. I’ll definitely stop in again if we ever pass by again in the future.

What an amazing place. The owner is one of a kind, a true gentleman. he truly loves and enjoys. It was very passionate about fly fishing. if you’ve ever wanted to learn anything about flyfishing this is the place to be.

I wish I could give more than 5 stars! Whitney is a one of a kind soul. He is open and running even after the hurricane, and I couldn’t recommend his shop more. Thank you Whitney!!!

My boyfriend came to visit and wanted to do some fishing. After getting completely (and unknowingly) ripped off by another tackle shop in Fort Myers, we stopped by Whitney’s for some tools. He kindly explained that the rod we rented was in terrible shape, and not meant for what we wanted to fish. He hooked us up with a very nice pole, rigged it for us, and sent us on our way for half the price of the other shop.

You can tell that Whitney is there because he loves fishing and helping others, not to make money off of people. He is a very knowledgeable, passionate, and honest man. Go support his business!!

So friendly and helpful, a great place to get an affordable rig to fish sanibel.

Had a great time out on the water with Nate. We had some non-avid fishers in our group and he set us up with everything we needed. He took us to several spots to find some good fish to take home including snapper and trout. Made for some killer fish tacos that night!

Great service! Prices not the best, but it's an island bait shop, sort of goes with the territory. Booked a fishing charter through them and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Was fishing around cape coral and sanibel for 5 days and wasn't having any luck. Stop to get some more shrimp and asked what I'm doing wrong! He took the time check over my gear and set me up correctly!! And gave me a ton of input! Within 5 mins of my 1st cast I finally was catching fish!!! I will definitely be back!! Highly appreciate all of his input and would give more stars if I could!!!

It was so nice to see y’all open after the hurricane even with no electricity. Even after Ian’s destruction, Whitney's had a great selection of gear, lures, etc. Run by a super friendly couple! Looking forward to doing a charter with y’all. Best of luck in the upcoming months!! I’ll be back!:)

Man they got crushed by the storm but they are open for business selling the same stuff! Great selection of hoodies and long sleeves. Bought something for the whole fam while I was down for work from Clearwater. Have to love supporting Sanibel business’s as much as we can. Skip bass pro and go to Whitney’s for your fishing gear. They have plenty.

Outstanding customer service! I rented a rod and reel today. The reel failed (lost a nice fish -oh well). I brought the reel back and he swapped it out - no questions asked! They’re super friendly and super knowledgeable!!! Oh, and they’re open until 9:00pm!! There’s no beating that!!
