A visit to traffic court!
I spent two hours here this morning, and was able to handle a legal issue to my satisfaction. (I plead down a speeding ticket to a parking violation, which meant paying much less money and no points.) The courtroom personnel treated me courteously, and things were run relatively efficiently. There are clean restrooms available, and it is an overall comfortable place to be. Most of the people were catching up on their messages.
After waiting a little over an hour, I was called with a group of folks out to the hallway to meet individually with a court functionary (was this the prosecuting attorney?) who offered me the deal - to replace the speeding violation with a parking violation, "in the name of justice." That meant a smaller fine and no points. Sounded great to me! So I signed the form, and went right back into the courtroom to wait to speak with the judge. He offered me a specific fine and I agreed to write a check the same day.
At the end of the two hours, I learned more about how these things work; They processed all the bargain pleas like mine first. At the very end as I was in line to pay, they processed those who plead NOT guilty. For three of them, things went great! The state troopers who had ticketed them hadn't shown up, so the court had no evidence and the cases were thrown out. How embarrassing for the court!
It turns out that the trooper who had pulled me over wasn't there either. If I had known that, and plead not guilty, would they have dropped the charges too?
The last case was confusing - the fellow had plead not guilty, but I think he learned that his troopers actually were there. So he settled and had left earlier.
All in all a morning lost, but I had beautiful drives there and back through the mid-Hudson Valley.

I would normally never pull the black card but I am choosing that one today. I grew up in the area my entire family actually. Our family home sitting in Nassau. Married at the very Town Court I am about to review. I am a local. A townie whatever you would like to call it. A year ago I relocated myself and my children to Pennsylvania, today I came in to the town clerk office to ask questions and possibly get some assistance with my divorce. Never greeted rudely treated by the first two people I had an interaction with, I can only assume given all the facts I’ve provided to you that my black skin may have offended them eating their lunch, the third woman who is the town clerk might I add basically asked me what I needed getting up from her lunch again treating me very rudely and condescending with her tone. After moments of belittled talking to me I still couldn’t get my question out because she did not care, I interrupted my own conversation to let her know that I thought she was not a very nice person I was very kind when I mentioned to her that it is hurtful to other people to be so rude when one is simply asking a question, I did believe it was her job to assist me I’m a community member no matter if I live here or not my family still owns property has close is 5 miles from the office. People don’t want to come to small towns especially those of us with brown skin we are judged before someone speaks a word to us I just wanted to share this horrible horrible interaction they should be ashamed

This court system is very corrupted. Ryan P. Mullahy is the worse judge in the capital region. I have a case that is still pending from 3 months ago with no answer. This judge leaves cases open on his desk and does not bother to look at them. He is very unprofessional and does his work unethical. With every proof according to the NYS eviction process of a tenant of not submitting the hardship or the ERAP, the judge still will not grant an eviction on one of my tenant. You mind as well not waste your time or money on a lawyer on going to court because he cannot make a decision right away and will keep prolonging the case when every bit of evidence is right in front of his face. I will not be voting for Ryan Mullahy in the next election.

I have been there for really long time. Finally called in and the gentle who spoke to me is very rude and was threatening me for no reason. He was giving me irrelevant information and answers. It was bad experience. Hopefully state has some better personnel’s who shouldn’t be polite but treat everyone equally.

I am disabled, so I can't physically go to court. I try calling all day long, but it goes to an answering machine and the mailbox is full. What the hell do I do now?!?!
