Soldiers Freedom Outdoors

I spent a weekend learning the basics of blacksmithing. It was an amazing experience. Soldiers Freedom Outdoors was extremely welcoming and accommodating. It was a great experience and a great property with really nice facilities. Very relaxing at the same time a great chance for me to learn something new and interesting. Plus the people there, the staff and other veterans, made the experience even better. I was able to relax and just take some time for myself while also learning how to make things.

We had an amazing day horseback riding with Soldier’s Freedom Outdoors! Our kids love horses and the staff was so sweet helping them with riding, grooming, and generally being around the animals. We are missing their daddy as he is currently deployed and this was an incredible experience to do as a family while he is gone hoping to come back when he returns! Thank you so much!

The volunteers are awesome, they go above and beyond to accommodate veteran's needs. The place is relaxing, cozy and feels like home being there. The food was prepared with love and care and the fellowship with the other veterans is heartwarming

I came to a four day retreat during one of my hardest Iraq anniversaries. I was met with thoughtfulness & great hospitality. Soldiers Freedom Outdoors is truly a place to come rest & relax with no hidden agenda. I’m thankful for being around the company of other great American heroes, sharing in lots of laughter, and having the opportunity to make peace with some of my past & it’s painful memories. I’d highly recommend & I’m so grateful for all those who support and help make this possible for veterans.

Outstanding environment where you feel relaxed. I could be just fine shooting the breeze in the back deck and looking at the lake. Today's adventure was for the kids though. And my son had a blast with the Horse 101. Grateful for the experience, and will return for retreats and outings.

Very friendly and helpful staff. The horses were very gentle.

Great property with lots of terrain. Kevin and Cindy were super friendly and very accommodating to every need. I spent the weekend there and plan on helping out as a volunteer in the future to help with this cause

Soldiers Freedom Outdoors is awesome i really cant thanks them enough for all the love they poured out on me and my other brothers and sisters that were there. I was able to forge my own knife make the handle and the sheith with Carl. looking to join and also do some volunteering too so I can help support them and what they do for us. A great place to relax share and start working on getting stuff out. Thanks so so much.

Wow 🤩 let me start of by saying, as a MST survivor I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to be able to stay here at this phenomenal ranch for a weekend away from my own mind. Being a combat vet and a MST survivor, my mind is consistently running full throttle. Dan and his crew made it possible for me to turn it all off and just enjoy the peace and quite. I felt at home as soon as I got out of the car. Safety is big for me and to feel safe in an unknown environment speaks volumes. His entire team 🥺🥰❤ are truly HEAVEN SENT FOR ME. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I can't say enough good things about the folks at Soldiers Freedom Outdoors. I participated in a 2-day knife making class that was awesome! Walked away with a skinning knife with a padauk wood handle and a buffalo hide sheath! More importantly, I left with new friendships that I am very grateful for! And the food the whole time was top notch! These people really care. Veterans need more outreach programs like this! Thank you SFO for all you do!

The Volunteers and Staff were friendly and showed genuine commitment to helping veterans relax and enjoy everything that Camp Freedom has to offer. I can’t thank them enough for the opportunity to attend the Blacksmith 101 class.

What a great organization for our veterans! If you are looking for a place to volunteer this is the place! Everyone that has served or is still serving. Deserves a place like soldiers freedom to go.

I heard about this organization on the radio, 97.3, and they mentioned a few things about events going on. Jumped on their website and saw they hold blacksmithing classes taught by an extremely talented smith, Carl Oliver.

Contacted them and sent my info to prove my time in service and next thing I know I'm registered for blacksmithing 101. They're on a beautiful ranch with around 25 horses and lots of friendly doggos too! Everyone I met greeted me with open arms as if we'd been friends for years. Very friendly group and they do amazing work helping veterans build relationships, find new hobbies, and escape the daily grind.

The class itself was fantastic! Carl showed us how to forge from a block of 1084 steel and ultimately into a functional blade. He was very knowledgeable, patient, great sensor of humor and all around great guy. I've been interested in smithing for awhile now and having finally done it I'm hooked!

Looking forward to taking more classes with him and going to more events and even volunteering with them!

As a Combat Veteran that has seen both ends of the barrel, my life since Iraq has been a struggle of PTSD. With everything going on in the world, there are times I feel trapped in my own home surrounded by negativity. With no hope of escape from the everyday trauma that goes through my mind. Then I found “Soldiers Freedom Outdoors” fellow Americans with big hearts and a powerful mission. You have given me something to look forward to in life and that’s a gift I haven’t received in a very long time. They are now my family and if you’re a Veteran thinking about checking them out, take the leap!!!! You deserve a chance at peace and that’s what SFO provides.

Came here for a fundraiser. "Jeepin 4 Vets"... great venue with awesome crowd. Plenty to do, obstacle course, tug of War along with tons of other activities.

They do amazing things out at Camp Freedom.Making sure our Vets enjoy and relax for much needed mental and physical therapy.

Soldiers Freedom Outdoors has a unique program that can fit any veteran needs who wish to experience a healing process using the American Outdoors. I visited Thursday 10 26 2023. I have a wish to join to retreat and also do some volunteering too. A great place to heal!

I had a wonderful time. Small groups, go at your own pace. I went horseback riding, trail riding on the ATV, fishing and walked the trails. It was so relaxing, especially sitting under the Spanish moss covered old oaks with a great breeze all weekend. The food was awesome and I slept like the dead at the end of each day. I highly recommend going to one of their retreats.

This is an excellent organization and well worth supporting or, if you're a vet in need of help, a great place to go. Donations are awesome but, I've found, that getting the word out to those who have served is an awesome feeling. i can't tell you how many vets have thanked me for making them aware.
