As an avid review reader, I like to know when I am reading a biased review. So, I will tell you immediately that this is my brother’s store. But, rest assured, I’m not biased at all: my brother wiped sticky suckers across my glasses when we were kids. I have no interest in doing this guy any favors.

So, on to the review —

Brown’s Beans & Greens carries a variety of fantastic organic and natural foods. My kids’ favorites are the string cheese and pepperonis. They also love the vegan cheese curls.

If you’re looking to try unique foods, Brown’s has it. In addition to the standard staples — locally raised grassfed beef, handrolled butter, bulk spices, organic flour, fresh produce, etc., they also carry the things food dares are made of: canned octopus and squid, kelp noodles, lime leaves, avocado ice cream, etc. (My kid once asked if they carry canned eyeballs. They do NOT carry canned eyeballs.) If I were on my way to a dinner party, this is where I would pick up my dish to share — gluten-free chocolate chip cookies for everyone! If I were a bored teenager, this is also where I would pick up food for a “wear it or eat it” challenge. This is also where I would go as a mother of multiple kids to just get food.

Ryan (the owner — you might remember him as the brother who wiped sticky suckers across my glasses as kids) knows his stuff. In fact, he has overcome the debilitating symptoms of an autoimmune disease by using natural and organic products himself. He spends a lot of time researching products and approaches to best serve his store’s guests — so much time that he never calls his sister (that’s me, as you may remember).

My review of their coffee will prove this review is completely unbiased:
I have nothing good to say about their coffee. I’ve never had it. I hate coffee. However, people tell me Brown’s Beans & Greens’ coffee is amazing.

The store also sells organic lollipops. The pomegranate one is awesome. Speaking of candy, ladies, people say my brother is eye candy. In fact, at my grandmother’s funeral, a septuagenarian was taking a picture of our siblings — that would be my four brothers and me. At one point, the septuagenarian exclaimed, “You boys have always been so handsome!” That was the day I started shaving my beard just like all my brothers do. Speaking of shaving, Brown’s Beans & Greens carries fantastic personal care items, including shaving cream and pine tar soap, as well as locally made goat-milk shampoo bars. (The lavender-mint especially smells amazing.)

I personally really like the Bronner‘s lime lip balm. I need a lot of it after smacktalking my brother — the brother who would use me as a test stick to see how far something could sink into the mud by the river before he pulled me out.

My only complaint is that I tried to convince Ryan to add blue jeans to his store offerings to really drive home the rhyming, alliteration, and color references in the store name. It was a no-go. *Eyeroll* Some people just don’t know great literature when they hear it.

A couple years ago, I purchased an eyewash glass from Brown’s Beans & Greens. I hadn’t been able to find one anywhere. It has saved my eyeballs multiple times.

This concludes my unbiased — and clear-eyed — review.

Just stopped at Brown’s Beans & Greens for the first time on our way to Duluth, it was an amazing experience! Such kind people and it was great to find some quality natural foods and household products for a good price. They have great coffee and espresso drinks as well, which was a nice pick-me-up on the trip. Easy 5-star rating!
