Barksdale Dental Lab

A big thank you to Steve Barksdale for always rising to the occasion of my perfectionist dentist needs! I am currently working on the most difficult case of 30 years and the support I have received from both Steve and Betty is invaluable. My patient is thrilled with the results thus far and so am I!! I’ve been working here for almost 6 years now. I’ve been in this field for over 20 years and I can say that I’ve learned and grown more as a technician here than any other lab. Management is great and on top of new technology. Quality is always first priority. I’ll be here till I retire.

I waited many years to be able to afford dental implants to correct a problem from an accident in my youth. I knew it would be a long process. But I didn't know that it would be extended by issues at the dental lab. Went to the dentist on 7 Jan 2022 to have impressions made for Barksdale Dental Lab to create the new crowns. Went back to the dentist on 26 Jan 2022 to have those crowns seated. One of them didn't seat properly, so they took new impressions for Barksdale and rescheduled my appointment for 8 am on 16 Feb 2022.

New crowns were due by noon on 15 Feb 2022, and when they didn't arrive on time, the dentist began calling Barksdale Lab to see why new crowns hadn't been delivered. Phone calls were avoided and not returned. Finally able to reach someone at the lab at 5 pm, the dentist was told the lab hadn't even started on the replacement crowns -- and they didn't even call the dentist to let them know. Dentist had to call after 5 pm to find out and then call me to cancel the appointment after I had already taken off from work to be there!

I understand that things are different under pandemic conditions, but this seems fairly unprofessional for the lab to avoid apprising the dentist of the situation altogether.

I was an employee, a driver for the Chattanooga and surrounding areas. Went to UPS every morning to pick up my box Barksdale sent me with cases to be delivered and to pick up case that were ready to be sent to the lab. The VP of the company hired me and rode with me one time to do my runs and pickups. I suggested to him THEN that it would be great if I could make calls during the times I wasn't making deliveries and pickups if the company would send me doctor boxes to introduce their company and what services they provided. Never heard a word about that. As a matter of fact, I learned about six months later that he was no longer employed there. Communication is one of the biggest problems this place has. My days included driving all around Hamilton County, Bradley County, Ringgold, GA, Soddy Daisy, everywhere around here.

So one of the owners of the company, BETTY BARKSDALE, called me on the morning of my last day (which I had NO idea) telling me two gentleman were coming to Chattanooga to speak with some dentists. They had A LOT of work returned to them for things that did not fit properly, wrong color or deadlines they were supposed to meet but did not. Off I went to do my pickups, since she said they were bringing my cases and I would not have a box that morning. I drive to Cleveland where I find out I am no longer employed by this place after almost two years. Humiliation and embarrassment doesn't even start to touch how I felt. I called BETTY BARKSDALE and will admit that we had words. I told her that she was the most unproffesional person I had ever dealt with, not to mention how unethical it was the way she handled this situation.. She proceeded to tell me didn't I know a tracker had been put on the car. Of course I knew since I met the fellow at UPS to install the tracker. The thing is, UPS changed their hours from 8:00-11:00, opened back up at 4:00-7:00. If I finished my runs before 1:00, I could not take my box to UPS until 4:00. BETTY BARKSDALE said I should have been calling on dentists when I had no runs to make. No one ever asked me to do that or I gladly would have done it since I had already suggested doing that very thing.

The left hand there doesn't have a clue what the right hand is doing. There is such a big turnover, you never know who you will get to speak with concerning problems with deliveries...deliveries that went to Lookout Valley that belonged clear across the county that I would have to go and pick up and take back to the correct dentist.

In other words, this is a sorry place to give your loyalty to or try to do your best for their company.

DO NOT USE THIS LAB. I got a partial denture and it is horrible. It is the worst thing I have ever seen. They have no quality control and Betty is horrible. She thinks she can beat oral arts.
