Brehm has totally changed my son's educational career. He came in testing very poorly, but his Mom & I knew that the potential was there, he just needed the right learning environment. The educators at Brehm are wonderful people who take a deep interest in maximizing your child's potential in education, socialization & life!!! The housing staff work tirelessly to motivate your child to be good people who take care of themselves, their housing environment and the other members of Brehm. If your child has learning disabilities and is struggling in school, please consider Brehm to care for them!!!

My son attended the four week summer camp this past summer and I don’t know where to begin to describe how wonderful this school is! My son was extremely homesick and not at all interested in meeting new people, trying new foods or having new experiences. The entire staff at Brehm bent over backwards to help him through his homesickness. The staff stayed in contact with me daily (almost hourly in the first couple of days) to let me know what my son was feeling and experiencing. They asked for my advice and included me in the decision making process when it came to my son. They nurtured his soul and moved at his pace. The result was a boy who opened up to new people and experiences. The staff at Brehm are kind, compassionate and caring. I know that my son will be able to continue to grow through the Brehm program. We will be back!

My son just completed his 3rd year as a student at Brehm. While I would prefer if he could study at home, we simply don't have a school that is so well equipped to holistically nurture a student with multiple learning challenges in Cayman. My student's experience to date has been exceptional. He feels that Brehm is his second home. He has been appropriately challenged and supported by the school. He has made great friends from all over the world. His academics have truly improved according his annual WJS results. Brehm offers Student Centered Education where each student is pushed to their maximum potential. He tells me his largest academic class ratio was 1 to 5 this past year. With that level of attention, he can focus and learn. He is accommodated for his needs. The staff communicate well between academics, residential, recreation, counseling, and nursing so that the student and their needs are well understood by each component of the school. I wish every child with multiple learning challenges could access this level of educational resource. I have gone the "extra mile" to make sure I could afford to keep my student at Brehm through to graduation. I do so confident that it is the best school for him, despite that he is a long distance from me and despite that I miss him dearly. I would recommend paying a visit to Brehm with your student. It is not a convenient location, but that is immaterial when you find a place that truly meets your student's needs.

My 11 year old son just completed his first month long sleep away camp at Brehm. It was an extraordinary experience for him and quite an experience for us as well. I can say enough about the care, attention and genuine warmth the staff bestowed towards my son as he grappled with being homesick and at the same time having more fun and adventure than he ever imagined. The range of activities was so broad that surely every camper found a magic moment, an interest or something to pique their intellectual curiosity. Most importantly my son came back from the experience with measurably increased independence, self reliance (no more battles about doing his own laundry, folding and putting away clothes!) and maturity. I don’t know what clicked, but something did and I am happy for it.

Staff responsiveness towards me as a parent was exceptionally good. They were thorough, consistent and swift. I am a raving fan of Brehm Preparatory Academy!

WOW what a fantastic place and fit. My son interviewed in January and wanted to go immediately---now he can't wait to return this summer. I am overwhelmed by the positive comments offered by others, by hie academic improvement, by this interaction with others. He is taking responsibility for his actions and learning to advocate for himself. The staff pushed him to learn and stretch and be the best that he can be. He is incredibly lucky to have Brehm to guide and support him. He knows that Brehm is a great place for him and I highly recommend it.

Our son is a 2006 Brehm graduate. The teachers he had during his time were the most dedicated and talented professionals (many are still there today). The Speech and Language program is excellent and provides a wonderful link to the whole student that is often missing in other programs.

THANK YOU for taking such great care of Kate this summer at camp. We are thankful Kate had the chance to learn from all of you at Brehm.

Please know you and the Brehm program/staff have a made a positive difference in Kate's life. By challenging Kate in the supportive ways you do, you have changed her life. Your program and the work you do is significant and important and we are most grateful.

Our son has multiple learning disorders including three forms of dyslexia and central auditory processing disorder. Despite actively communicating continually with the public school he was attending and never missing an IEP meeting he started his freshman year of high school with a third grade reading level and was doing math at the 4th grade reading level. It was obvious that he needed serious help to be able to overcome these learning disorders if he ever wanted to have a chance to go to college or even live independently. Since starting Brehm last year for his Sophomore year in high school we have seen marked improvement not only in reading and math but also his confidence and self esteem have dramatically improved. When all of the kids have learning disorders it pretty much eliminates all of the bullying and name calling that you experience at other schools. Even if there was a bully to be at school Brehm practices a strict no bullying policy. Since not our son is not being threatened by bullies, he is learning how to be more social and develop friendships. He even danced at Prom and a Valentine's dance which doesn't seem like much but for him that was huge. Asking a girl to dance means risking rejection and it takes guts when you have learning disorders. The teachers there are professionals in everyway. They all teach using evidence based best practices that have been proven to work. All of his classes are taught using these same teaching techniques not just reading and math. During the one year our son has been attending Brehm he has made marked improvement in reading and math as well as many other aspects of his life. While going to school there he gets to use an Apple computer loaded with software that helps to organize his thoughts into paragraphs and reports, read his text books to him as well as allow him to dictate so that it types for him. Brehm is now beginning a new program that we are excited to be a part of called the Arrowsmith program. It works with neuroplasticity. They will be working directly at the source of his learning disorders and not just teaching compensatory strategies. This program is cutting edge stuff and has the potential to cause significant improvement in our son's life. We are so thankful to have him at Brehm.

As a member of Class of 2016, Brehm has helped me become a better person; at first I was really scared because of settling into a new environment, but as the years flew by, I started to not only gain knowledge & confidence, but gained many friends & memories. Without Brehm, I wouldn’t be as successful I was as a human being today. I’m always thankful for Brehm, and will always think of Brehm as my 2nd family. 💙

Education staff are amazing and really take time and care about students. Residential staff do not realize that teenagers are going to be teenagers and they eliminate way to many people from the school for simply acting out. They lock you in your dorm room for several nights. That drives a person crazy. That is not a consequence, that is a straight punishment. With a learning disability, comes a lot of trouble in the social area of the students life. They do not accept that at all. On the bright side, education staff such as teachers. Are very understanding and great with the students. Structure here is also very good. Staff single out people Forsure. Favorite staff is Paul Kosuth a teacher. Worst staff that I’m sure everyone would agree with is Aaron lee. Least understanding staff there. Has horrible patients. Makes lots of kids cry and feel bad about themselves. If you care about your child education more than their mental health than this is a perfect school for him or her. If your more concerned about your child’s mental health than education, please do not send him or her to brehm preparatory school.
