Barney's Bar & Grill

Tucked away in Burr Oak a great little local pub. Amazing food. Bacon cheeseburger with fried egg was on point. Beer is ice cold and staff super friendly

Real deal fun. This is a basic, wholesome fun bar ownes by the same folks for a bazillion years. Awesome bar. Local tenders. One small griddle to make basic burgers. The outdoor patio was a great addition. The bandstand gets you close to the action...if you care to dance or mingle in the parking lot. Love it.

Always a 10 star experience eating here!! I'm from down by Boone Iowa and visited friends in Castalia and had to have dinner here again. They used to live in Burr Oak I went here first time in 2019!!!

This is a great bar to visit while in the area. Friendly bartenders, good food that is made to order and reasonably priced, and a wonderful outdoor seating area when the weather cooperates. Usually 3-5 tap beers along with a full bar and all domestic beers. Great place to watch a game/event as well.

It was great. The owner was there cooking, waiting tables and tending bar by herself. It was lunch time. There 2 people at the bar drinking, 5 separate lunch tables with 17 people total who all were having lunch and 2 people stopping in for "go" orders that each looked sufficient to feed 3-4 people. ALL customers were served promptly with no waiting, all tables bussed promptly, the tables, stools/chairs sprayed with disinfectant including the bar, she chatted with every table many of whom she new by name and she was never in a hurry. I have eaten all over the world in the last 65 years including some very upscale places. It was the most amazing 1 person band with full orchestra accompaniment I have ever seen. By the way, the food was great and prices reasonable. Fantastic experience!

I've been here a hundred times, and it's easy to boast, Barney's offers the best chicken strip basket with delectable buttered toast. As the friendly stranger in the parking lot said to me as we were leaving, "won't leave here hungry, will we?" Definitely not.

Very good portion size for the price you pay. Friendly local bartenders who care about their people. Cozy, hometown, small-town bar, family-friendly atmosphere where you know most of the people at the tables near you.

Cold drinks, mixers are my favorite and they mix them well. :)

Cheap food, but awesome food! Drinks are great and cheaper as well! Great watering hole, just a great Hole in the Wall kind of bar, love this little place that's set in an old settlement town in northeastern Iowa, just off of Hwy 52. I might even move there, just because of that place. Lol

Also, the waitress who wears many hats (waitress, bartender and cook) is wonderful!

Had an awesome Cheeseburger and fries, these guys are a hidden gem it little old Burr Oak, and totally worth the trip, check them out!

Took a large group here for supper and sat on the outdoor patio. Food was really great, service was fast!
