What a cute family owned restaurant. Everything is made from scratch and tastes delicious! The service was excellent. All of our entrees were served hot, as well as plated in a pleasing-to-the-eye manner. This was my first visit but not my last. (Chicken Fried Chicken)

Went there for dinner after a soccer game and both the food and service were great. Very clean too. Would definately go back.

Split a Tenderloin sandwich & onion rings, two side salads coke & water just under $25. Didn't hav to wait long for food. Really tasty. We were at Baldwin High-school for my great nieces wrestling matches. Yeah both won then went across highway 56 to get a bite to eat😋

Great food and service. Classic American, Bourbon steak is to notch. Interior is a little tired, dated, but who cares!

We are here last night, December 17th 2021, for my my husband's 28th birthday.

We have lived in Baldwin for 2 years and those years have been pretty rough, we were so lucky to find an apartment in sweet and quiet Baldwin City. We love it here and plan on buying a home. We've experienced quite a few events here but this was our first local restaurant. We were finally able to come to The Wooden Spoke after hearing so much about it and we brought friends from out of town.

What a charming, down-home, relaxed place. The parking lot felt like you were pulling into a old-time drive in, but you get out of your car and reach the door and it feels like you are standing outside of someone's well-loved home. The tables reminded me of my own kitchen tables in my childhood home. I felt comfortable as soon as I sat down. The waitress was extremely attentive, her energy was calm and sincere. Our drink orders were taken immediately, our appetizers came out quickly and the entrees were the best home cooking we all have had in many years.

We ordered the KC strip, the ribeye, the bourban steak and the spoke burger, spoke fries, mash potatoes, the chilli, mozzarella sticks, potato skins, and the wings in this beautiful honey brown sauce that was sweet, spicy, smoky and honestly it was incredible. I love WINGS and these took the trophy from me and my friends!

Our food and plates were hot, the food was fast. All the steaks were cooked as asked, all steaks were medium rare, juicy, delicious and quite big. Burger was done just well and had a classic burger taste.

The alcoholic beverages were delicious and made strong.

My daughter ordered the kids chicken strips and she said they were very good, we loved the fries. The spoke burger was amazing and the mustard tasted homemade. My husband especially loved the chilli. Overall, the food was spectacular. The service was fast and friendly, the environment was clean and comfy. We will definitely be back.

They have the best Prime Rib on Friday and Saturday, seasoned very well. Everything seems very well priced. We will definitely be back.

Took a group they're on a coach bus. Parking was tight for a big bus but doable. Group called ahead days ahead of time. Food, service was great, clean and welcome place. Would love to stop by again. Maybe ride the bike there with friends and have lunch.

We stopped here yesterday for lunch. It was fantastic. The first look you wonder but PLEASE don't let that stop you. It was clean and bright. The server was the only one on the floor. One was cooking. It's just a sign of the times...sad... While we were there part of a baseball team came with parents. This server was awesome. Now, let's go to the awesome Chicken Fried Steak..AMAZING. It wasn't frozen...the mashed potatoes were real. The gravy was homemade and the seasoning in all was great. I have read some of the previous posts about this place. I don't understand how you couldn't like this place.. Please be kind to service people now as at least they are working...several aren't. We were going to go to Lawrence and so glad we didn't. Support your Mom and Pop places instead of big corps. These people are the ones that work for you. Will for sure stop again the next time we are through...

Food was delicious and service was great. Even though they were out of a couple of things, I was easily able to pick something else. Menu has a great variety of things to choose from. Our mushrooms were very good as an appetizer. I had the chicken fried steak and it was delicious and tender.

I have dined across The USA often in small family restaurants which range in quality of food, cleanliness, hospitality, and service. The Wooden Spoke provided all even though they were short handed and busy. Our meals were delicious, eye appealing, and hot.

Great place to go if you are hungry.

Best chicken fried steak I have ever eaten, and the potato soup was incredible too. Very courteous servers. My only regret is that since I live two and a half hours away, I can't come here all the time!

The facilities are clean and reminiscent of days gone bye. We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary by having lunch with our family at the Wooden Spoke. The restaurant accommodated the 10 of us with ease. The waitress was fun, and personable. Our orders were from large salads to buffalo-burgers to turkey-Ruben. Everyone had something different. We were served quickly. Each order was correctly prepared. Each of us left full, and pleased with our choice of restaurants for lunch. It was a very good experience, and I will recommend it to everyone. FYI, we live in Independence, MO, and never eaten there before, and we don't know anyone who works there. So this is a really independent evaluation.

The service was AWESOME and the Food was even BETTER! The burgers are HUGE and the fries were generous in portion. I was more then pleased with the speed in which the food was brought to the table and our waitress was a delight. very attentive and made sure everything was just the way we ordered it. could not ask for anything more. 5 Stars! We will certainly be coming back for more! THANKS!

This was our first visit to the Wooden Spoke. Even though there is not a lot of money invested into the ambiance of the building. the food was outstanding. My family is simple and we didn't mind the very simple atmosphere. We will certainly be back again soon for dinner. We had the Bourbon steak with Baked potato and Ham & beans. For dessert we had Apple pie with vanilla ice cream.

The picture is old. The Wooden Spoke has moved to a new building across the street, 2 blocks up going west . Owner and staff are very friendly and food is good!! Love having some place locally. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

We moved to Baldwin 1.5 yrs ago. We never tried it because it looked like a locals hangout. While remodeling our kitchen we decided to try it. Our biggest mistake was not coming here sooner. Awesome food, great service, clean atmosphere every time we went in. Our kitchen remodel is done but our visits to this restaurant will continue!

I had the grilled Cajun chicken salad. It was very tasty. The gal that waited on us was very friendly and did a great job. We'll have to come back sometime for the prime rib.

Stopped in Friday night had the prime rib and it was excellent. Friendly customer service and great atmosphere. Has the mom and pop small town feeling, would definitely recommend eating here.
