Visit these trails as close as possible to sunrise, and prepare to be bowled over by the beautiful diversity of this environment. If you're attentive, there's not a square inch of the reserve that isn't studded with something fascinating.

It's ALWAYS an Adventure at the WFR, always great things to see. Fun for an individual or group. Lots of trails that are fairly kept well, there's are some steep areas so good shoes are a must. Also remember since there are flowers there will be bugs and bees. I normally were something organic like peppermint oil to repell them and is less harmful for the environment.

This is a nice park.to walk. The trails are dirt and will be muddy when it rains. There isn’t any admission to the park and everything is free. Eight times there is a nature reserve center that’s open. I could always call ahead to see exactly what’s going on at the nature reserve center.

I didn’t see any place to get water so you may wanna bring your own water. There are public restrooms open during the normal 9 to 5 hours Sunday to Sunday.

The center itself is interesting with many models, pictures, and stuffed critters, and there is a large, lovely wildflower area outside. It is easy to find several nearby trails, which are not too long of a very hard hike. Some will wind down to Raccoon Creek which is fairly large. A few spots you can scramble down to the creek, but in other places small cliffs make it impossible. What look like beaver dams appear on one of the creek bends. A nice relaxing place to hang out or walk.

What a beautiful trail! Shaded with old tall trees and yes, plenty of wildflowers. Not too strenuous and lots of variety and trails to follow.

So beautiful and peaceful. Short, easy trails for most ability levels. Not sure if there is a fully accessible trail, but that would be my wish for the future. Tons of gorgeous wildflowers, both tiny and large. I love bringing my dog to the park, but it was nice that there are no dogs allowed in the wildflower reserve - it makes things a little more peaceful.

Delightful little structure/ area. Outdoor classroom is just a few hundred feet off the main path. Restrooms are of course a highlight for most.

The Wildflower Reserve has *the best* environmental education park rangers! The programs are great, I only wish they were able to host them more frequently, (plus host multiples of the same classes that get filled up!)& had more resources.

Right now, every two months they release a calendar with the program schedule. They update Facebook and post the programs as events on there, too. It depends on what's going on seasonally/with the woods, for what topics come up. If you visit for a hike*** and the center happens to be open, poke your head in to look around and say hi; they're nice & I always learn something new when I stop in! They have honeybees in the back, a native plant garden off to the side, and a historic cabin up on a hill.

I grew up attending programs here & continue to go whenever I can get the time. They can host school and group programs.

The Reserve area rules are more strict than the State Parks' rules. Do not bring someone who won't respect nature.

Because of it's smaller size, I typically send folks who are beginner level with hiking (but are fairly fit) to the wildflower reserve for a "leisurely & pretty hike." The Wildflower Reserve Area has about 4.5 miles of trails and most connect to each other. If an adult gets lost, they can usually find their way back without *too much* trouble. Lots of mud in some areas, especially in spring. Definitely some hills.

If you take a hike you can find- a good meadow for bird & butterfly watching, a seasonal pool full of frogs, a creek perfect for turning rocks over in, ferns that make you feel like you're in Jurassic park, and even a scenic view from a cliff.

***There is a Wildflower Reserve trail map as a PDF online, if you want to hike, I suggest following the Wildflower Reserve specific trail map, instead of trying to use the official Raccoon Creek State Park map. They don't always have them printed and available on site (unlike the Raccoon maps) so it helps to print one up in advance!

Attended a nature journaling workshop here and really enjoyed it. Naturalist Shane was very friendly and knowledgeable. Liked exploring the trails and little cabin near by. Looking forward to a return in April to see the wildflowers.

Really nice trail system you could spend all day exploring. Pets are prohibited which is a bummer but understandable.

Didn’t have any maps at the trailhead but a google search will turn one up easily.

Beautiful trails. I wore the wing shoes thanks to a day at the beach but was curious as to what this was, so we stopped. You can view a little garden, even a bat camp!! There was a building on the property but it was closed. I assume because of the pandemic? Maybe I'm wrong.
Regardless, the trails will be a great weekend adventure!!
