Stax's Drake House Restaurant

The food, service and comfort feeling here are fantastic. Farm house setting with outstanding country food, and plenty of it. Accompanying pics are phase 1 & 3, while phase 3 was salad (no need to pic, but too was delicious) and phase 4 was a desert of bourbon biscuit pudding which didn't last long enough to pic. Service was courteous, respectful of our personal conversation and spot on with dish removal and drink replenishing. We love it.

We had a grand experience at Stax’s Drake House Restaurant! The staff was welcoming and friendly. There's no secret when it comes to getting weird looks when visiting certain restaurants, but not at the Drake in Landrum, so it truly made us glad we accepted the offer when invited by our friends! Now let's eat~ oh my, the food was fresh and well-presented! We were informed of their famous fried chicken, and it was fabulous. Crispy, well-flavored, and juicy on the inside. The white fish meets its match as well. All sides were homemade (green beans, pinto beans, mashed potatoes, cream corn, collards, mac & cheese, etc.) My favorite was the salad bar and homemade spinach chicken soup, which had a Western flare and a nice kick of spice that nipped a the tongue. Desserts change daily, so this visit brought forth choices from bourbon bread pudding, coconut cake, lemon pound cake topped with homemade strawberry jam topping, & an apple bread pudding! The lemon pound cake was fluffy and reminded me more of a cake than a pound cake yet was amazing. I was not a huge fan of the bourbon pudding since I wanted more of a loose consistency to absorb each section as flavors came together as a whole. I could not taste the butter, not the flavor of bourbon due to it being one large lump of heavy conjoined dough, but if one is looking for a heavy consistency it could be a great choice. Today, my favorite was the lemon pound cake! Thanks for a wonderful heartwarming welcome. It will definitely be on our list of places to visit in the future. The hospitality we received was greatly appreciated.

Absolutely amazing buffet!!! Our Easter dinner was delicious!!! I so appreciated them allowing take-out! We enjoyed our meal with our sister in a local nursing home!

We have lived in Tryon for over 4 years but our 1st time at Drake's House and it certainly won't be our last!

Everyone we encountered was friendly and nice and we were seated shortly after entering into the house foyer and taken to the front left room. I love the old time charm of the home and the atmosphere, something that took me back to my gram's home from decades ago. The food was that of my childhood❤

I loved the buffet options and enjoyed the juicy fried chicken seasoned with the chef's own all-purpose seasoning blend, Mac & cheese which tasted just like my grams which she always made with extra sharp white cheddar cheese which I haven't had in decades, best creamed spinach around, smokey green beans, creamed corn, mashed potatoes with spinach, tender fish, perfect fluffy biscuits that I dunked into the roasted garlic tomato soup, sweet tea, and bourbon biscuit bread pudding.

Everything was amazing and we will be back!!!

All the food had wonderful flavor! The salmon in lemon, cream, caper sauce was DELISH! The price of the buffet is very reasonable. The pics don't do the buffet justice.
The buffet included; pot roast, salmon, chicken Marsalis, pork, fried chicken and MANY sides including really good mac and cheese and a salad bar. The owner and staff are fantastic! I highly recommend this place.

Beautiful inside and out. This wonderful restaurant boasts a buffet of fine down home cuisine. We chose to eat outside on the porch. There was a beautiful koi pond with iron tables and rocking chairs.
The food is reminiscent of my childhood. Fried okra, ham, green beans, pork tenderloin, salmon, and a full dessert menu. I was stuffed like a tick. Everyone was so friendly and the owner took such good care of us. Everyone is treated like family!

Stax's Drake House catered our wedding, and I highly recommend them! Michael was amazing, and the food was scrumptious. I especially recommend the appetizer with artichoke dip (spinach and marinated artichoke dip with grilled pita wedges brushed with an infused rosemary virgin olive oil) and the grits (Charleston white shrimp and low country stone ground grits with andouille, tomato, paper and onion jus). Michael also helped provide options for vegetarian guests as well as various dietary restrictions. It all turned out lovely and delicious!

Best Southern cooking Period !
We drive an hour at least twice per month or more just to eat their great southern classics.
Tonight we had the shrimp & grits and it was amazing as was everything else right down to the chicken and rice soup. I bought a quart to take to my mama who is recovering from a bad cold. Anyway, if you love good food and home atmosphere with great service I recommend you give them a try. Saturday 5pm-7:30pm

I don't like chicken but this is the Best I have ever ate. Think I could eat more if it was as good as this and the cream corn and okra is to die for.

Amazing! We were traveling through the area and stopped. Great food that tasted like my Granny cooked it. I was a little apprehensive because it is a buffet… but everything I ate was amazing. Service was great, decor was cute, and everything was clean.

Really enjoyed our lunch today at Drake House… my 3rd piece fried chicken was quite possibly the best fried chicken I’ve ever had! The vegetables were all fresh and well cooked. Lov

Man first time eating here on a Sunday for lunch and this place is completely amazing from the food to the atmosphere and the staff and management. Food I recommend all of it off the Sunday buffet nothing on the buffet was disappointing. The price is also just right. Also I suggest eating inside and taking in the environments atmosphere (the restaurant is an a very old home) we even asked the waitress on some history from it being used as an old hideaway for the underground railroad to the place supposedly being haunted. This place is again Amazing and I highly HIGHLY suggest eating here.

First timers today. WHY did we wait so long. We have been missing out. Ohhhh where to start, THE FOOD is absolutely amazing. You can absolutely taste that Every thing is homemade and made with love. It was like Sunday dinner at Grandma's with all the fixings. Mac N cheese was creamy, cheesy delicious. Mashed potatoes were silky smooth and beyond creamy. Sweet carrots, greens and Pinto beans were absolutely cooked and seasoned to perfection. The service was great and the kitchen staff had us laughing and loving the first experience even more! Cant say enough good things about this place. Just sad that it was my first visit and its right close to my house lol. TRY IT NOW!!!

My husband and I happened to stumble upon this lovely place during a Sunday drive. I absolutely loved the old house atmosphere.The fried chicken and okra were my favorite! The Malibu cake was delicious!

It's $20 per person which includes the buffett, beverage, dessert, and tax. I believe that's pretty reasonable considering todays economy.

Didn't realize it was a buffet, but we ate plenty. Southern cooked vegetable like turnip greens and beans, homemade Mac and cheese, chicken fried chicken, Greek pork chops. Homemade chocolate cake, included in very reasonable price, for dessert. It was all delicious.

Delicious buffet! $15 per person covers all you can eat buffet, drink, dessert and tax. Only thing left to pay is tip and because they are so attentive and helpful, you'll want to leave a good tip.

Absolutely amazing in so many ways. Who makes bread pudding with biscuits???

Everything was delicious, so well balanced, so well prepared, you didn’t even think about salt and peppering anything!

And the service was outstanding, so accommodating. A good example - a biker group showed up. They were all seated together at the picnic table outside!

It was so good my husband wanted to come back the next day!

Great food including pot roast, salmon, fried chicken, biscuits and much more. Style is buffet which I generally lean away from, but this place does it right, food is plentiful and hot. Both indoor and outdoor seating. We were there at a super busy time (Sunday 1pm) so everyone was hopping, all seemed friendly. Not sure if they even take credit cards (they might) but cash is clearly preferred with easy cost, $20 per person all inclusive (buffet, drink, dessert, tax). So bring cash and all will be happy.

We found this place thru Google maps. Michael the owner is friendly as well as the staff. I have a crazy bunch known as Slingshot Lovers. The whole staff made us feel welcome and joined right in with our craziness. It's off the main roads but we worth the detour. Southern buffet was worth the drive.

Got the chickenAlfredo, mashed potatoes and collards. But when I was eating the chicken I came upon a little bone. Other than that the food was good loved the mashed potatoes.
