Sat outside on the back patio as we had our dog. Service was superb. Friendly staff, very attentive. They immediately brought a water bowl (with ice!). Ordered a cup of loaded potato soup (of the day), the gyro lunch special with their house cut onion rings and we also tried the fish sandwich and fries. All were delicious! The history of the state prison is quite interesting and the knowledgeable staff shared some stories as my husband walked around the former prison yard. Had several different beers on this visit and all were very tasty! Nice selection so we will have to come back and try a few more.

We were planning to come here for a potential event, but was of course a hoax (you know how Facebook stuff goes). After reaching out to Dave and Andrea about other plans they were so gracious in setting up a tour and saving us a table for our birthday celebration. This is definitely an awesome place if you like historical things and great craft beer! We will be coming back for sure!

Awesome place! I loved absolutely everything. The interior design. Beer (we had not too much time and ordered just a flight qto try), food, music... The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. (Hi Kelsey (hope I wrote your name in the right way! ), you're great, I think you deserve a rise!) The prices are great as well, we paid $42 with tips and got a flight, the patty melt for me and 6 chicken wings for my wife. Very reasonable prices, and food was to die for. My burger was perfectly cooked, and the onion rings were the best in my life. Chicken wings were perfectly seasoned, not much and not less, just as it should be! I would definitely recommend this place. And they have live music on Wednesdays, so it's definitely worth the ride!

Came in on a Sunday around 1 and was seated right away. We had a party of 8 and the service was great. Lots of good craft beer on tap. The hamburger was cooked prefect. The chicken sandwich was soo big and juicy. The French fries came out hot. The cheese curds were soo good we ended up getting two orders. The atmosphere was cool a old jail house feel.

I was not able to try the adult beverages on this trip but was able to enjoy the very interesting atmosphere and absolutely delicious food. The service was also incredible.

Would definitely return to try more.

Excellent food and service. My girlfriend has dietary restrictions and our server had everything taken care of. Keep a reasonable check on us as we dined and made sure everything was top notch. We have decided to have our Valentines Day meal here!

Excellent brewery in an early-mid-century, small prison building, the vats are behind original steel bars!
Super friendly, hard working staff, great service with a smile, southern charm at its finest.
Food is all made to order with fresh ingredients. Not at all your typical "bar food."
Owner Chris is always there to greet every customer & when he can, he sits & chats with customers. If you see him a second visit, he usually remembers your name!
Oh, and the beer is fabulous! Brewed with love by local Brewmaster Autumn, every glass full is carefully crafted.
Iron Key is definitely a must-experience if you're ever in Polk County NC or surrounding counties!

I brought a group of family and friends to Iron Key for a birthday celebration from the northern Spartanburg area. We were looking for something fun and different. Searching the internet, I stumbled across this former prison turned into brewery that was only a 20 minute drive for us. We had never been here before, but it did not take us long to feel like we had made a great decision! Loved the tour, the beer, the food, the atmosphere, but most of all, the owners and staff treated us with genuine friendliness and care! Also, we loved the way they embraced the history of the building and property. I wish future success for this establishment as they work on their growth plan. We will be back!

We had a great experience here with the food, service, outdoor space, and atmosphere. They have a good selection of beers on tap. We ate the patty melt with roasted brussel sprouts with feta and the fried fish sandwich with fries.

I never thought I would be happy to go to prison, but here we are 🤣 Iron key is awesome, from the history of the building to the themed craft beers. The food menu was much larger than I expected for a brewery, and everything we ordered was cooked exactly as ordered, it was delicious. To top it all off with a nice cherry, it's dog friendly!! The corg was quite pleased that she was able to join us 😁 10/10 would recommend, and personally, I can't wait to go back 😁

Great Bavarian Hefeweizen, loved that the Porter and stout not too sweet. The blueberry basil seltzer had a nice blueberry nose with more basil in the finish. Shandy was very refreshing and the cold IPA very tasty.
We talked to the bartender about the brussel sprouts being colder than we expected but she was very responsive offered a new batch.

Been to Iron Key about 5 times or more now and every single time it's been amazing. The food is always good, staff is always super nice, and the music selection (live or in house) is always enjoyable.

And I hate most beer but I've tried all of theirs and everything is good which is extemely surprising to me!

This place is awesome! They have amazing food, great in house brew, good guest brews, and an extremely friendly atmosphere. Super dog friendly with tons of available outdoor seating. They will even bring out a water bowl for your dog if you'd like. I highly recommend this place to anyone in the area!

A great place with good beer. Didn't try any food but what we were able to see, it looked very good. Looking forward to going back whenever we visit the area.

Fantastic food- we sampled appetizers, sandwiches... of course the beers were a delight. Great staff and just the nicest owners and management. Can not wait to return.

Pretty cool atmosphere. It was a cool Saturday afternoon when I went and it wasn't very crowded at all. They have some good beers to choose from. They have a pretty good food menu with some good options. The staff was friendly. Definitely recommended checking it out.

The owners of this establishment were so kind and our server was fantastic as well! The food and drinks are literally the BEST in the area. The service isn't even comparable to what you experience in the surrounding areas. We go from Rutherfordton county often now. This restaurant is a must go to and a total gem. Not to mention the history of the building will blow you away!!!

Stopped in here on a weekend. Was fairly busy like the rest of the breweries around Hendersonville, beer was good. Live music was good. The building is very neat. The outdoor seating is excellent, my only complaint is they don't do beer flights and they only had one guy working which had the line backed up pretty far
