I am from Florida and I was scared to go anywhere, I have had the same stylist for 20 years. Patty did my highlights and styled my hair and I am thrilled to say I loved her. She is a true professional, knows what she is doing and is loving and caring on top of it.

I got a spray tan with Heidi at the Durham blue bamboo location, and had such a great experience! Heidi made me feel comfortable and relaxed, and gave me great instructions prior to the tan about how to best care for the tan and make it last. I have a nut allergy so she made sure to find a solution that was safe for me and made me feel at ease about that. Highly recommend!

I go to Kelly at Blue Bamboo for shampooing, and an occasional blow dry. She shampoos my hair better than anyone I’ve ever been to. She’s caring, thorough, and funny! It brightens my day to see her. The haircuts I’ve seen her do are very attractive, precise. The other lady who works with her at the Durham location is so nice, welcoming, and caring. I very much recommend this salon.

Sarah is great! She takes the time to listen & really understand what you are asking for. Love their newest location in Greenwood Commons!

I am truly glad that I am able to get my hair cut at this new location of Blue Bamboo as it is around the corner from my home and I get to have Kelly take the time to cut my hair on days that are easier for me to take time out to get this done. My only complaint is that it is certainly a little more hectic at this location as it is much larger than ther original location off of Ninth St, but otherwise a nice salon that is clean and friendly. Parking is good although this lot can get parked up at peak times.

Kelly Swinson Johnson is an amazing stylist and all around great human being, one our family especially appreciates for the incomparable experience she gives our younger son each time we visit Blue Bamboo. M, who has some sensory processing challenges that we're still figuring out as a family, has always loathed having his hair cut or washed and ears touched. Before our first time at this salon, he had grown more and more bothered by high pitched sounds, so the buzzing sound of a hairdresser's clippers could really send him into an emotional spiral.

On a hot tip from numerous parents in the South Durham area, I made an appointment for M with Kelly to see if she could help us get his hair neat and trimmed without a meltdown that leaves everyone feeling helpless. Kelly was absolutely phenomenal with our son. She talked to him in a gentle, encouraging voice. She asked for his consent to proceed with her various tools. She gave him an out, asking him to simply say "stop" when he felt overwhelmed or uncomfortable and needed a break. He said it a handful of times, and she honored his wishes each and every time. He shed not a single tear the entire time we were in Blue Bamboo, and I am floored in the very *best* of ways. As we left the parking lot after our first time at the salon, M told me he really likes Ms. Kelly and wants to go back to her next time he needs a haircut. That is huge for him.

If you're looking for an incredibly thoughtful, patient, talented stylist for your child (or yourself), Kelly is the one. ❤ We have since been back and will remain loyal customers! If you're extra lucky, you might even get to spend time in the salon with Suki Tsunami, Kelly's adorable one-year-old Shar Pei pup.

I had a great first experience here, but I have to say that Kelly is such an amazing person and stylist. It's obvious that her clients needs are her top priority, and she is not afraid to tell you what she thinks is best, which I very much appreciate! I would go back just to hang with Kelly again. But I should also point out that I love my cut!

I have been visiting Kelly at Blue Bamboo for almost a year now. She is amazing! Not only is Kelly kind and professional, but she truly takes the time to get to know you and your hair on an individual basis. She is meticulous and lets you give feedback during every step of the process. I only have my hair colored a couple of times a year, and Kelly ensures that we get the most bang for my buck and it looks fabulous for months with her techniques. Highly recommend!

Blue Bamboo is the best salon I’ve found in 52 years. Kelly, the owner, is the consummate professional in addition to being just a downright good person. If someone stiffs one of her stylists, she’ll tip them herself. I called once asking to be seen within the next few days before my sister came in town and Kelly was booked up. To my amazement, Kelly asked if I could come in at 6:15pm. It was a 4 hour color job but she was willing to work from 8:00am to 10:30pm!! I didn’t allow that, of course, but her willingness is a perfect example of her dedication to her customers and her craft. One of her other stylists, Tonya Cooper, could fit me in and since Kelly hired her, I knew I could completely trust her. Everything worked out perfectly and thanks to Blue Bamboo, Kelly, and Tonya, I looked better than my sister, which was the goal in the first place! Lol.

Very nice salon and very friendly staff. Kelly did my hair and brows. I can't say enough of how well I treated and talking to her better than any therapist I've been to.

Loved my experience here at this salon went in for a cut and style for my daughter the staff was very attentive and friendly they made sure we were comfortable. Adriane the stylist introduced herself and immediately asked what was my request she asked before she begin to cut her hair how I exactly wanted it styled I highly recommend her and the salon! Very clean lots of sitting room. An overall pleasant relaxing experience all together. I also liked the fact that they never questioned me on why I chose the style I wanted or did they do the typical stylist line of I think this would look better I’ve experienced that in the past and nobody likes a pushy hairstylist they are the complete opposite. Thanks girls!!!

Adriane is AMAZING!!! I used a Groupon to try this place out and I love it here. I wanted a new cut and color for my wedding and she made my dreams come true. I will definitely take the trip from Raleigh to come back. The atmosphere is calm, relaxing and pretty. They use quality products and really take the time to understand what you want and make sure the result is achieved. My cut and color came out beautiful. Everything came out beautifully!

I hadn't had my hair cut for about 7 months due to the Pandemic and on top of all that, my car had been stolen, and wrecked. So I was a pretty sad puppy when I went in Blue Bamboo on the spur of the moment.

I was welcomed and made to feel right at home. Two little girls, sisters, were getting haircuts, and one was donating her long locks to a good cause. My stylist really took care of me and gave me an awesome short cut, a lot like the one I got in Paris about 10 years ago. I wish I could remember this stylist's name but she had a beautiful accent, and might have been from North Africa.

I left a big tip and will definitely be going back because I felt like a new woman when I came out of there.

I walked in with 15 months of bedraggled COVID hair, and I left grinning and walking on air! Owner Kelly Johnson really put me at ease with an excellent style consult, and was able to follow the shape of my pre-COVID long-layered wavy style with textured bangs, making sure I could ponytail it in the summer heat. I was so impressed by her professionalism, and reassured by her sensitive and heart-felt inclusivity. I will definitely return for fall highlights and future cuts. I have found a wonderful new stylist!

What an amazing experience! I have been trying to find a good hairstylist who knows how to cut a layered bob, which has been much harder than I would've expected. Then Lydia my friend who goes to Veasey suggested for me to go to her.
I have to say I am impressed how Veasey instantly understood what I wanted and she surpassed my hopes of a fun, sassy bob by making it work as a 50s/60s Marilyn Monroe style! I'm thrilled!
On top of that she's warm, welcoming, a great conversationalist, and very professional.
The salon is clean, well organized, with friendly staff, in a great location and has plenty of parking available.
I highly recommend this salon and especially Veasey! Both thumbs up.

Adriane is awesome! She's detail oriented, fun, professional, highly skilled and willing to experiment with my outside of the box ideas with my hair. I also love the Loma products used, they smell very yummy!
