Gary's Oyster Shack

My wife and I absolutely love Gary’s and eat it as much as possible..lol. The fried grouper sandwiches should be illegal, they’re that good!

Popped in mostly to try out the oysters but we were pleasantly surprised by the selection. We ordered 12 oysters, the shrimp balls, a prime rib sandwich, and the group sandwich (fried). The service was quick and friendly. I also appreciated that the dining room was full but it wasn't so loud that I couldn't have a conversation.

The shrimp balls were very tasty- they were not spicy though. The shrimp is cut very fine so at first we thought they just tasted like hush puppies, but there are little chunks of shrimp. The raw oysters were great! I would have preferred to have horseradish and lemon with them rather than cocktail sauce, but they were gold nonetheles.

My grouper was amazing! Fresh, perfectly cooked, just wow. I'm looking forward to coming back to get the grouper plate. The prime rib sandwich made my husband's jaw drop, specifically, the au jus dip. He was very impressed and when a cook stopped by to check on us he made sure to tell him and ask about it.The red beans and rice side was different than I expected and needed a little salt added, but I enjoyed it all the same. My husband gave the Mac and cheese and coleslaw a thumbs up as well.

Great food, reasonable price, quick and friendly - we will be back and will bring our out of town visitors here as well.

Was a great experience for me and my friends! We were visiting Florida for Spring Break and decided to try it out. Service was amazing, staff was awesome and friendly, and the food was awesome! Anytime I’m back in town I will definitely be back!

Excellent food and the prices are reasonable considering seafood has become a premium. All the seafood is great. Cooked perfectly. Don't expect to order a beer or wine since they don't sell alcohol. Here, lately, there have not been any raw oysters because they don't have a shucker. They only serve baked or fried.

Great food! Maybe my new favorite restaurant. Came for the first time last night and had to come back tonight. It was just as good.

Great food at a decent price. Love that they use Big Green Eggs to grill their burgers and steaks. Service was great too.

Gary’s food was phenomenal! The steakhouse oysters were delicious with the best little fried crunchy pita breads. Shared the surf and turf with my wife - nicely seasoned and correctly cooked steak with six blackened jumbo shrimp. Side of garlic-parmesean potatoes tasty too. And best of all a Christian run business that is surviving and thriving by His hands. Love love love it. Cant wait to come back to Panama City to eat at Gary’s.

They have the best blackened grouper of anywhere! I am sure to tell them not to overcook or undercook and should see it flake. Large portions. Awesome pies. Second picture is what I took home and ate on balcony over looking the beach!

Awesome food, friendly staff, clean, priced well, and received food in a reasonable time. We love this place not our first time there and will definitely be back. Prime rib is fabulous!

I absolutely love this local restaurant! It’s probably in my top three fave places in all of the south! YES IT IS THAT GOOD!

I usually opt for their smoked tuna dip BLT or one of their salads. Their Ahi Tuna nachos are absolutely amazing! Everything is amazing.

This is one of the few places that I can honestly say, I’ve never had a bad meal here.

They get very busy, so go early.

First stop our family of 10 made when we arrived into town. Already know it's one of the best stops we will make all week and so glad to have started this trip out here. 👌 couldn't ask for better food, service, or owner.

Try the seafood nachos! The homemade wonton chips have left me no choice but to never be satisfied with regular tortilla chips again! The owner and staff are amazing! Friendly and courteous!

Food was delicious, service a little slow for a Friday night but the gentleman walking around greeting tables and delivering food made up for it. House sause and seasoning is a take-home must!!!

Great overall experience! Sadly, I grew up here and have never eaten here my whole life!! Last day of family vacation and stopped by for dinner. Minor wait of 15 mins on a Thursday night, but we’ll worth it in taste!!

Awesome! Friendly folks made us feel right at home! We had the fried scallops and grouper, along with 2 dozen oysters on the half shell - which were phenomenal... cleaned well and really clear! The service was great. If I lived closer, I would be here A LOT! So, thanks, y'all. Your visitors from Zephyrhills really enjoyed ourselves!

We stop here on our annual trip to Panama City. Being on the outskirts of PC, it's a place where the locals eat.
Gary's has a nice, old school Florida fish shack vibe. The restaurant is nicely appointed, with an always clean dining room with a great wait staff.
The food is incredibly fresh and prepared with a knowing hand.
I always get the whole fried flounder with fries and slaw. Tonight Cay had the fried grouper sandwich and it was outstanding as well. Do not miss the smoked tuna dip. That alone is worth the drive. Get here early. Dinner service is usually quite busy and they close at 8:30.

Food was great. Had half a dozen raw oysters on half Shell and half a dozen baked oysters scampi style as well as a salad with ranch.

Even though they were only 30 minutes from closing when I arrived, everyone was still very friendly and helpful. Best oysters I've had in a long time.

Perfect way to start off my vacation in Panama City Beach, Florida

I was pleasantly surprised, I've driven past and never thought to stop. We met there for a birthday celebration. Let me start by saying the service was outstanding. Our server was Jessica B she went out of her way to make sure we were satisfied. She even went out the door to direct a lost friend to the building. Everyone enjoyed their food. I had the special, which was a seafood plater scallop, fish, shrimp and 2 sides. It was good. I really enjoyed the string beans and sweet slaw. I didn't really enjoy the gumbo it had a tomato base, which was overpowering. I wouldn't try that again. I would recommend and I'll be back.

My wife and I took a weekend to travel Coastal highway 98. Came about this place. We almost left, thought it was closed. I am glad we stopped and checked. Wow!!!!! As an appetizer we had the seafood nachos. The homemade wonton chips served with the nachos tied the whole plate together. As the entrée we ordered the seafood platter. We honestly don't remember what was on the platter, we were to busy eating it. Everything was home made, all the sauces. The cocktail sauce and the tartar sauce, it has been a long time since we have had some serious soul food! The collard greens with pieces of sausage in them. The spiral macaroni and cheese. We had to stop and save room for desert. I am glad we did. Our server came out with, u think the whole desert case. HOME MADE. Every single piece of pie and or cake was home made. Key-lime cake and pie, banana pudding, chocolate mousse pie and 4 or 5 more pieces of pie and or cake that I don't recall.

We will be returning and bringing more people with us.

This place was amazing! They are still rebuilding after the hurricane but that doesn't interfere with the great service and food we had. It was so good I forgot to take pictures before we scarfed most if it! Our waitress was also the best we've had in the area since moving here in August.
