Wife and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary with a delicious vegan dinner crafted by Ka'ana chefs, and we could not be happier.

Valet parking and a prestigious location were impressive. The large winding staircase brought us to the entrance of Ka'ana Kitchen where an aloha welcome made us feel we were in the right place.

Our reservations had us seated outside the restaurant on the terrace, overlooking the ocean and palm trees in the distance. From that select location we gradually watched the sun makes its way down for a glorious sunset.

Attentive wait staff helped us craft vegan appetizers, entrees, and dessert that were simply more amazing than we had expected. Thanks Phil for a great job serving us. Thanks also Dave for your suggestions.

The wait staff took our pictures on several occasions. Needless to say it was a win for us on our 50th and we look forward to going back.

Breakfast here is AMAZING!! Huge buffet with anything you could ever want that slightly rotates daily. Huge juice and fruit bar. Tasty omelets and coffees. Really nice people!

Wow! My wife and I were looking for a great date night and they delivered! Weis was an exceptional waiter. He was very personable, kept the food and drinks coming at the perfect pace, and did a great job of making recommendations and explaining the dishes. The food was excellent! We got all 3 seafood appetizers as well as the seared scallops entree and there wasn't a bad dish. We split all of our dishes and they were very accommodating! We were worried that we might not get enough to eat, but by the time we were done with dinner, they about had to roll us out of the restaurant we were so full! We also really enjoyed talking with the manager, Mike. Loved sharing about my military experience and hearing about his. We honestly felt like we left the restaurant tonight having made a friend. We truly hope that's the case and we get to come back and visit! Thanks again for the great evening!

The mushroom risotto was very light tasting. Not as heavy and rich as I’m used to. I enjoyed it very much. The watermelon salad might have won the table for the night. Knowledgeable about gluten—which was great.

Dining here was an amazing experience. Despite deciding relatively last minute to book a table, they were able to accommodate us quite nicely, even providing an outside table with a decent view. The food itself was delicious, especially the rib eye steak. Topped with a satisfying dessert, it is hard to find a better way to celebrate Mother's Day.

Really beautiful place with great service. The food was amazing and we really enjoyed our time. We arrived a little early (before they open), so had a chance to walk the property.
Note that there's only valet parking, but they do validate. Also, the restaurant doesn't do cash.
I'd recommend a table at the open kitchen if you're into that sort of thing.

Update: came back exactly a year later, and everything remains true. This is probably the best fine dining experience on the island.

Honestly I don’t ever leave reviews but I felt like I had to with this place; the food here is absolutely on another level. Wife and I split the striploin & the fresh catch which was Mongchong (never had it before), we had a lot of good food in Maui all week but this topped it off as an amazing last meal before our trip ends. Amazing amazing amazing. Nothing on the plate didn’t deserve to be there. The flavors were incredible. 10 stars if I could, 5 isn’t enough.

I did the chef table and it was a great experience.
I went to breakfast and lunch.

Highly recommend

Update 12/21/22: still great! Their strawberry cake is delicious! Everything was great. The view is amazing.

Our meal was incredible. You can definitely taste how fresh everything was! Every interaction with the staff, from host to server, was very pleasant and you could definitely feel the staff really care about providing a great experience. I highly recommend the octopus salad and fresh catch of the day.

Located at the Andaz Maui, Ka’ana kitchen serves modern cuisine with an emphases on local ingredients and strong Hawaiian influences. The restaurant has beautiful views west facing into the ocean; make sure to book a table before sunset.
The Ahi Tataki was delicious. The tuna was very neutral by itself – mainly as an addition of texture. The lilikoi gelatin was quite the contrast but a welcome change.
The grilled octopus was super soft and tender – very well prepared. The local goat cheese was remarkably fresh.
The risotto was fantastic; I’d eat it all day. The asparagus added small bits of crunch, along with a feint earthy flavor to the dish. The onion jam was sweet and broke up the creaminess of the Risotto.
The buttermilk fried chicken was alright; it was pretty tender but the breading could use some work to be more crisp. The grilled pineapple was a great add. However, I wasn’t a huge fan of the Napa cabbage slaw, which felt a little too mild in flavor.
The chocolate cake was decent. I enjoyed the lilikoi pairing.

Lovely place for dinner! Casual but understated elegance! No need to dress super fancy but a dress can go nicely with the place. Service was spot on! Manager heard we were here for a bachelorette and threw in a free dessert ($13)! For four adults we ordered 3 starters, 3 entrees and 3 desserts to share. All the dishes were great! Only complaint was that the Ahi Belly was a bit salty. We’re not massive eaters but were very satisfied! Plus a bottle of French bubbly it set us back about US$350 all up! As expected at a nice restaurant inside a fancy hotel. I recommend!

Hostess was welcoming and polite. Offered outdoor or indoor seating. I chose outside. Nice weather and great subset, my only complaint was the bar below blocking half of the view. My server I believe was Tia, that's what it says on my receipt (Tall Blonde). She was wonderful, offered daily catch specials. I went with watermelon salad and crab Risotto. Salad was great, risotto was okay, got boring towards the end. I went to restroom and my napkin was folded for me when I returned. Nice touch.

We did the Chefs Table and it was magnificent! The food was innovative and delicious, the sauces were unctuous, the staff and the chefs were friendly and approachable. We had a really great 2 hours and were pleasantly full but not over full. We even took some leftovers back to our room. Great time.

Taste Rating: 10/10
Overall Rating: 10/10
Verdict: A must visit in Maui - my favorite culinary experience on the island.

Overall Breakdown:
* Flavor: 5/5
* Uniqueness: 6/5
* Value: 4/5
* Ambience: 5/5
* Service: 5/5

Summary:
Ka’ana Kitchen is my absolute favorite culinary experience in Maui. When I visit the island having a reservation is a priority. The restaurant hits every high note regarding food quality, view/ambience, and service. While the meal is not cheap by any means, it’s definitely worth what you pay for.

The Ahi Tataki was absolutely fantastic - tender, smoked Ahi with lilikoi agar, smoked burrata, and tomato duo. The Octopus Salad was like a Caesar salad variant - perfectly cooked grilled octopus tossed with lemon oil greens, garlic crouton (incredible texture and flavor), and chèvre. Scallops were perfectly sourced and cooked - sweet and supple - and were paired with beets. An interesting but successful flavor combination. The entrees were fantastic, though I would say the appetizers were the highlight of my meal. I highly recommend the buttermilk fried chicken - definitely not your average deep fried bird. Despite being extremely full, we managed to order the chocolate rum cake which was absolutely divine. Extremely moist and rich - paired beautifully with the salty macadamia crumble.

In our last visit for my sister’s graduation, the hostess kindly gave us a beautiful full ocean view. Our server was fantastic, offering great drink and food recommendations (though we ended up ordered over half the menu). I look forward to returning next year for another delightful review!

At first I thought the menu seemed not as interesting as I expected. But, when the food arrived it was so delicious and they had innovative elements and plated beautifully. I would definitely go again and want to eat the octopus salad every day ha

Let me start by saying the food was exceptional, but OMG.. the hostesses were singlehandedly ruining our evening. Rude and disrespectful. Ex. We were moved from one table to another and she was annoyed we didn't bring our glasses and utensils across the restaurant... so instead she goes back to the table, brings them and actually dumps them all in one stack on our table.. all mixed up. For an upscale restaurant of this caliber, just unacceptable. And the attitude 🙄 Thank goodness the manager stepped in and that our server was as amazing as he was. If not for them, this review would be dinged by at least two stars.

All appetizers were phenomenal. Our favorite was the skirt steak, watermelon salad and ahi. For the meals -- The fried chicken was flavorful but not amazing. The steak was great, as was the risotto. And the bartender makes an amazing jalapeño margarita!! Try it!!

After eating at the pool bars, we did not know what to expect at Kahana Kitchen. We were pleasantly surprised to have a very good experience. We started by splitting the Walpoll mixed greens salad, which was very fresh and tasty. My wife, who normally dislikes salads, loved the salad; especially the pears and red wine mascarpone dressing. I also had the Ahi Tataki, it tasted as good as it looked. The fresh tomatoes and burrata are now my favorite accompaniment to Ahi. My wife had the mushroom risotto, which she loved despite not especially liking mushrooms. We like that the restaurant features local farms as ingredient suppliers and plates that are shareable. The service was very good, attentive but not intrusive.

Hands down the best food we’ve had since arriving in Hawaii.
After a short wait for our reservation, we were seated by the patio, but still had a nice view of the kitchen.
The appetizers were incredible. Great presentation, local ingredients and delicious.
The Ahi I had for dinner was cooked to perfection, and served immediately, as the outside was still hot from the sear, and the inside was still cold.
Cocktails were also great, I loved the Lime in the coconut!
Our server Lex was amazing. She was given a massive section with to many tables, but still managed to offer personalized service, and made us feel welcomed and not rushed.
As someone who worked in fine dining for a long time, I was thoroughly impressed she didn’t miss a single service standard.
Way to go Lex!

Great service and food. Very accommodating of infants too which is rare in a fancy restaurant. They even brought my 9mo old some toys for him to play with. The food was all amazing. We had their chef table tasting menu that allowed us to experience a lot of different dishes.

Overall my family liked this restaurant. I personally didn't enjoy it as much. The food is very expensive which is fine, but the portions were very small and not filling. After leaving we got more food elsewhere. The dishes themselves were all very delicious to almost everyone in our group. We really enjoyed the dessert. I think overall the only issue I had was the lack of creative options for someone who doesn't eat meat. I'm not a vegetarian but most meat dishes aren't appetizing to me. It was unfortunate that I felt there was hardly anything on the small menu for me to choose from and the items were all things I felt like I could get at any other restaurant. I don't feel like my review would be fair if I gave less stars though because what I ordered DID taste good and the service was excellent.
