I've helped out at this preserve on a number of occasions through the years as a Va Master Naturalist and so appreciate what's being done and accomplished there concerning its preservation. Being given an invitation a couple years ago to witness the banding of the Red-cockaded Woodpecker, I jumped at the chance. It was quite interesting to see how the baby birds were removed from their nesting cavity and put through the process of banding. Great to see that their numbers have been rising over the years.
