Wailea Grand Champions: Destination Residences Hawaii

Our condo was dated and needed updates. I don't know if it represents all units. The guest bathroom sink was plugged up when we arrived and I'm sure it was at least for the previous tenants, too, because the stoppers in the sink and bathroom were both unscrewed and laying on the counter. On the upside, after we'd lived with the plugged sink for 3 days, we called. Maintenance was here with an hour and fixed the problem.

There are multiple pools on the property, but not all of them are good for kids. We are traveling with three children under age 6 and went to one of the pools. To sign on the gate said quiet only. Our kids were not loud, but they are kids we were told by the people at the pool that it was a quiet area where people went to relax so the kids should be taken elsewhere. That was fine. We went to another nearby pool where they were lots of children. My point is that not all the pools are open to everyone.

I've stayed at several complexes here including Wailea Elua and the Kihei Racquet Club (both are oceanfront) I would go back to those before coming here again.

The location is great with easy access to Kihei and Monkey Pod within walking distance. Lots of great golf courses. The Wailea courses are great, but you can save some money and play the local public course, Maui Nui. Same grass, same climate, a par 71 Hawaii golf experience and you can get a shareable 6 round punch card for $384.

The view from our lanai was amazing...at all times of day. Sitting above the pickle ball courts was entertaining. This space is well maintained and comfortable!! Close to EVERYTHING!

We had an excellent stay and we will definetely be back. Highly recommended. The only downside we had was pickleball wanting to charge is $28 per person, per day, to play while we were there. How are the facilities not included like the pool?

Beautiful, spacious, clean condo! The kitchen is equipped with all sorts of pots, pans, dishes, silverware, rice cooker, toaster, etc. There was enough dish soap, dishwasher tabs, and washer dryer pods to easily see us through a week and a half. There’s enough shampoo to get started if anyone in your group has long hair. (Note- there were none of the pantry items I would usually expect in a VRBO type situation. You will need your own oil, sugar, etc.)

Location was very quiet at night, and had a beautiful view of the golf course and sunset.

You will absolutely need a car for this location- the beach is a 5 minute drive, but wouldn’t be fun to walk!

I have stayed at Grand champions twice now and I love the location. I love being within walking distance of Wailea Beach. Since it is about a mile away, the prices are cheaper but the rooms are nice and large and the complex has 2 pools which is nice.

Unit 32 is amazing! Great views of the ocean. A stones throw to fantastic restaurants, shopping and Makena Beach were spotting the turtles was a blast. Condo has all the things you need for a great vacation. Worth the stay!

We've been to Maui multiple times before, but always stay on our Resort on the West side. This time we decided to spend the week before our resort on other places on the island. Our first three nights were spent in Wailea at the Wailea Grand Champions. The check in was confusing, because you actually need to go to the strip mall a few stops before you get to your designation, which is where the office is. Everything else from there is smooth sailing. The property is GREAT, the Villas, AMAZING. I felt right at home the minute I walked in. Beautiful, homey, decorated awesome. Right on the golf course. The toiletries were fantastic and I actually took a picture to purchase that same brand once I get home. The pool area, hot tub area, all great. The staff, WONDERFUL. If there were anywhere I would recommend or come back to, it's The Wailea Grand Champions.

Loved our stay here. #104 was like everything we can ask for when staying in Hawaii.

Beautiful place make you feel like home! The air conditioner is great! It’s really nice to have kitchen but a bit of cooking oil would be amazing!
The location is very convenient, there’s mall beside it and walking distance to the beach!
This area is very quiet and you won’t feel surrounded by hotels!

Booked with Hyatt points. Great for car trips. Very spacious room, parking is free. A bit remote from the nightlife but with a car there is no issue.

Only place I will stay while we're here! Five star!

We really enjoyed our stay here. The location is fantastic, basically walking distance to a long stretch of Beach where you can follow a walking path behind the resorts along the beachfront for a really enjoyable stroll to watch the sunset. Cost was reasonable, the unit was spacious, very comfortable, clean, well-appointed. I think the only thing it lacked was a washer and dryer but that's definitely not critical. Also very close to the wailea golf courses if you are playing any of those.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at this condo complex. We were lucky enough to rent a unit on the fairway for the first hole and it was fun and relaxing to watch people play. Although we were in the ground floor unit, it was quiet and everyone was pleasant. The unit we stayed in was updated and comfortable. We did not use the pools, but they seemed nice and centrally located the complex itself was a short walk to the shopping mall down the road where there was a small grocery store as well. One parking spot reserved for the unit right out front and plenty of other guest parking around the corner. A very enjoyable stay and we would rent this unit again.

Great place parking was easy, beds were little hard but pools where great and always clean, bottom unit you can here people walking around but quiet time is at 10 pm so people where quiet after that time. All and all was great place for a family of 4 with teen girls.

Beautiful and safe location. Lanai was great for sunset watching.

I have stayed in 2 different units here and will be staying next summer as well. This place is truly the best bang for your buck with all that it has to offer. It is nice and quiet, the adult pool is a nice option if you don't feel like being around kids splashing around in the other pool (not that there is anything wrong with that). I'm not sure why some people say these condos look old or dated, they property is well-kept inside and out from my experience. If you want to stay somewhere newer or less dated than you're gonna pay for it. These were built in 89, I wouldn't call that dated. The landscaping on the property is pretty immaculate and the security guard is friendly. After our 1st stay in 2013 we decided to try Wailea Ekahi Village the following year which is right down the street and were disappointed. They were more pricey and no hot tubs and we regretted not booking Grand Champions. I recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in the Wailea area and will be staying here every trip to Maui.

Beautiful resort, friendly staff. Great location for exploring beaches. Not too inconvenient for touring the rest of the island but not right in the middle as we thought it was (the loop roads meet in Kahului about 15-20 minutes from Wailea).

Really enjoyed this Hyatt. I only wish the unit had a small amount of cooking oil. There were a couple ants and the shower towel rack would fall down, but these are pretty nit picky. All in all the experience was great!
