Loved our camping stay at Scioto Trail State Park. We were just past the restored church building and it was nice and quiet. The lake was beautiful, the camp store lady was very nice and super helpful, really thoughtful conveniences like loaner fishing poles and a special kayak/canoe dock with wheelchair access, only issue was some of the trails need maintenance (badly) - so just check with the staff on which trails are clear (and which to avoid - I'd recommend avoiding the Church Hollow loop trail ATM)

Family friendly! Clean campsites, large lots, and well shaded. RV campers here so it didn't matter for us, but as an FYI, the restrooms available are out house style.
We love the nature talks provided - Amy was awesome! Kim in the store/visitor center is great, super resourceful! Make sure to get your park passport stamped! (And buy a color campfire packet!)

If you hike, be sure to bring plenty of big spray.

This State Park is different or unique depending on how you look at it. There are different areas that aren't always connected by trails and sometimes separated by private property. Most of the parks areas are along the main entrance road. The park has well maintained trails, beautiful views, and a couple of small lakes.

I've been to this park three times in recent weeks. I've enjoyed it very much. As others have stated, the trails are steep in places, I would still call them moderate, but on the more challenging side of moderate. There's lots of life in the shallow lake, and the surrounding woodlands. I've found the park clean and well maintained, even some of the roads have been recently repaved.

This was one of the most beautiful parks I have ventured! Be prepared to climb essentially amount! It has very steep hills, and it is not for easy walking. However, it was very much enjoyable.

My review on Scioto Trails State Park. Just south of Chillicothe Ohio on Route 23. If you're looking for a stress-free, low key, small and friendly campground then I would highly suggest this one. I wanted a small camp ground to break in our new TT. Plus one of our dogs had never been camping before. I wasn't for sure how he would act. It was a great time. The lake is small but they do have some canoes and paddle boats for rent. The main section of the property is just like other campgrounds. You have close neighbors. The side section, before you get to the office is a little more spread out. I'll definitely be going back. I would have to say I like Scioto Trails better than I do Deer Creek. They even had a fire truck show up for the kids.

Sitting by the water and listening to the breeze in the trees is so relaxing. I have fond memories of picnics, camping, canoeing, hiking, creek walking, and fishing here during childhood.

Nice place to have a get together, especially with kids. Playground and creek right by the shelter house. Restrooms there, basically a port a potty but does the job. Charcoal grill there for cooking. Horseshoes game there too. Beautiful park!

Great state park for a fun little adventure! It lacks the amenities of a larger campground but makes up for it in charm. Beautiful lake, great fall colors, and friendly staff in the camp store.

A beautiful remote park that is not busy at all. Caldwell Lake is small but scenic. Took 2 trails and both were strenuous due to steep climbs. A great place to get away.

Really great for hiking riding and driving. So many trails and paths. Many are open to cars and horses. Playground is good. Not many shelter houses though.
