First time at Van Buren SP and we had a wonderful time. The restrooms are updated and the individual showers are really nice. Loved the bike path into South Haven as it went right from the park to the town. We rode our bikes and spent the day enjoying the town. Beach access is great a trail right from the campground leads you to the parking lot of the beach. Also if your into kayaking there’s a free launch and parking in town on the Black River. Road to access is right near the bridge on the river. The park was fairly empty but we went mid week in October but I can truly see why this place is so popular! We will be making reservations to return. Also there a cute store right near the entrance that has a good supply of things and the owners are super friendly.

Awesome views on the beach, fun rocks to look through, and it's a great place to camp in the state park campground. Dog friendly everywhere after Labor Day, and there are lots of fun hiking trails. Definitely will be coming here again.

Van Buren State Park is a wonderful camping destination, recently updated! Bathrooms are so nice, classy restaurants are jealous. Hot showers, clean grounds, and simply a very relaxing stay! Totally recommend this as a Sputhwest Michigan destination. Oh, and rock hunters, yeah this is a stop for you as well.

Another great state park in Michigan is totally worth the drive from Chicago. It's one of my favorite summer hangouts in the area, and the trip is always well worth it. While it might not be as big as some of the other nearby state parks, like Warren Dunes and such, its stunning beauty can easily match them.

What really makes this place stand out is the noticeable erosion happening along the shoreline. You'll spot hundreds of trees that have fallen along the shore, creating a seriously impressive and kind of surprising view that adds to its unique charm.

+they also have a dog beach and plenty of restrooms

Beautiful park. Trail entrance right before park entrance. A bit of an incline, and the sand can become tiresome. For the less fit, even though it's a mile & change, I would call this moderate. Great views of the lake, will go back in fall! 🍂

Great campsite, clean bathrooms. No camp store, but nearby field store is an easy bike ride or drive and has everything a camp store would. Beach is awesome. Dog beach to the north and if you look south you'll see a decommissioned nuclear power plant which is interesting to see.

This was not what I expected when i was told that I am going to a beach In Michigan. It was great. The branches were clean, park staff friendly, felt very safe and I could not have been happier. Great for a quick family vacation

Great view from the top of the dune. It's a trek up there but worth it. Fun beach to stroll down and look at rocks and driftwood. Has restrooms and outdoor showers to rinse off with, as well as a small playground.

What a beautiful area, the park and campground as well was amazing. The campground has brand new bathroom and shower building. We absolutely enjoyed our stay. Bring your bikes, a wonderful paved bike trail right from the campground into South Haven.

Fantastic stop! Lots of rocks on the beach, so watch your toes when going out into the water! Climbing the dunes was also a big highlight! They also have a ramp going down to the water that was great for wagons and may be able to be used for wheel chair accessibility?

This is a fantastic state park. Stayed a week in the campground. Nice camp sites, electric only, and a very quiet campground overall. There are 2 newly built bath houses/restrooms with a dishwashing station and the potable water stations throughout the park are also new.
There is a short walk to the beach and dog beach through the day use area but it's well worth it, especially to catch a sunset over Lake Michigan.

Gorgeous campground! Spacious, woodsy, near the beach, public restrooms are clean and modern! They even have a spot where you can wash dishes. Nice trails, little parks for kids. We spent the weekend in October and the fall color was amazing. Easy check in and out - we reserved our campsite online.

This is by far our favorite state park in Michigan so far and we have visited a lot!!!! The staff are friendly and helpful. The campground is nicely wooded, brand new bathroom facilities, and a close proximity to the beach. I do recommend wearing water shoes at the beach. There are rocks for about the first 15 feet in the water after that it's sandy. There is a very nice sand bar and the beach is dog friendly wich is a huge plus for us. We visit here every year.

Nice state park, very pretty and the bathrooms are completely modern. 30 amp and 50 amp on the campsites. My visit was in late October and I enjoy the solitude. The lights are very sandy and hard to level your RV unless you pay the up charge for a “modern lot“overall very very nice location with a beautiful beach and extensive hiking trails. I will be back.

What a beautiful spot! Easy parking, easy access to the beach. A place to rinse off sand and bathroom facilities. Enormous sand dunes! We were visiting from NC and the Outer Banks sand dunes are half this size! It was odd to see the beach scattered with stunningly smooth stones rather than seashells!

Beautiful section of the Lake for sure.
Dunes you can climb (I did not, but my adult kids did) bathrooms, Picnic tables, grills, and a play area with swings and a slide. There is a wash station but it was still cold when we went so I assume they will be open as the weather turns warmer. We did see people with dogs on leashes so I assume it's dog friendly but don't quote me on that as I did not read the sign for that information.
The driftwood along the beach made nice little nooks for relaxing and feeling semi private. We saw people on top of the dunes with hammocks, looked like an amazing way to enjoy the beach! You do have to pay a fee for entry if you don't have the park pass on your licence plate.

Would visit again, clean and safe place, walking distance to the beach. Nice sunsets and plenty of sand. Mid August weather was nice everyone in our family had great time and long swims as well as long walks at the beach.

Can’t beat the beautiful beach and being only 5 minutes away from South Haven. They just put in new bathrooms that are clean and very nice, but be prepared to push the button every 15 seconds which was weird for a brand new bathroom. Other than that, it is a great park!

This is a gorgeous Michigan State Park! We went on a short but beautiful hike to get one of the centennial geocaches, and the view at the end of the hike was amazing! Watch out for the drop-off, though. The beach area was awesome, but I bet the steep cement path there gets slippery in the rain. The beach is so sandy and huge. There are a couple playgrounds and lots of picnic tables, too. Somewhere there is camping, but we just went to the day-use area.

LOVED this place. We went during winter and it was peaceful and clean. Nothing better than a quiet day at the beach
