Newtons Woods/Russ Forest County Park

Simply stunning fall 🍁 wonderland. Beautiful little quick hike to the serene Dowagiac Creek. Nice playscape, horse trails, pavilion with picnic tables and grills.

One of best trails we've walked yet. You can tell how well this park is maintained within moments of arriving. Trails are clearly marked with plenty of maps available and sitting benches along the way. Just watch out for horse poop while walking about... LOL! They allow people to bring their horses to ride, so there is that to be aware of. Surprisingly, there is no fee to enter. And the scenery is awesome, especially right now with the fall colors starting to pop. Will be returning many times for sure!

Beautiful! Was there for a cousins army retirement party. Took a stroll while we were there!

Nice little enclave. In middle of the woods, right off the road, with a nice little kids park.

Wonderful shaded playground..A few picnic tables scattered about..However, bringing camping chairs is an excellent idea..The trails are shared with the Equine so watch your step. The Equine community are kind people and in my 4 year old's she was invited to sit on a horse for the first time. The kids waded the creek and enjoyed the water fun. Worth a stop for a break from the mundane.

So peaceful and quiet out there. Take a walk down the trails or have a picnic with the family! They also have a playground for the little ones

Great place for a walk to enjoy with a friend or take your doggo to enjoy nature. The trees speak here and are large and welcoming. Great spot for family picnic as well. I love these woods! Alotta history.

Russ Forest is a great place for outdoor events like birthday parties! I love seeing the hills covered in trees on all sides, I also enjoy crossing the bridge to watching the river flow, (and people splashing about.)

You don't have to worry about seating or grills as there are picnic tables, a cold water well with a hand pump, grills bathrooms, and play equipment for all ages scattered around one of the clearings.

As this is a large forest, with a fairly still but quick river, you can expect to see different types of birds, crabs, bugs such as spiders, dragonflies, butterflies, and not so often, snakes (which stay near the river.)

Overall, I'd say this is the perfect place for your next outdoor event. (You are out of luck if you don't like the outdoors)

One of the most beautiful places in southwest Michigan! There's lots of great walking trails out here, all of them beautiful. In the deep woods there are some absolutely massive Beech Trees, some of the biggest I've ever seen! And it's full of wildlife! In general just a great area to explore and take a break from the real world.

Great place to get back to nature. Trails to walk and ride horses. Very easy to walk the trails, nice flat areas, not real hilly. Also has a play area for kids, picnic tables with pitcher pump for water.

Nice place, many childhood memories here.

Such a pretty place for a stroll through the woods! Be prepared to meet horses on the trail, and they do leave behind their trademarks. Beautiful creek to wade in, just beware of certain spots where the leeches like to hang out

Perfect place to bring my kids! I grew up going to Russ Forest

This is a go to place for us. You can walk in the beautiful outdoors and enjoy nature. They have a nice playground for the kids. The only down side is it's very rustic with only a outhouse for bathroom business. Love this place

Awesome scenery. Numerous mushrooms in spring and fall, including edible varieties. Trees are truly gorgeous. Watch for horse poo though

It's a great place to go horse back riding. I go all the time you can even play in the water with your horse too.

Nice little park with gazebo and picnic tables and swing set and stuff for kids. Miles of nice trails.

My favorite place to be in nature used to be a quiet place more traffic and use these days but always beautiful and worth the trip
