The Mustard Seed Cafe

I rarely eat at normal dining hours, but this day it was about 12:30pm when I got to the restaurant. I could see they were quite busy, which is, of course, a positive thing.

The hostess came up to me and asked 'how many' and I told her just myself. "All tables are full right now, but some will open up soon," she said. I nodded and moved back toward the door out of the way. While my wait was only about 6 or 7 minutes, there were 3 other sets of customers that entered and queued up at the "wait here to be seated" sign.

When a couple left and the table was cleared the hostess came right to me and led me to the table. I was sure she would have taken the person at the head of the queue. This was a good thing!

I was seated and about 5 minutes later my order was taken. I ordered the Julie Club sandwich. Within 10 minutes I was eating a most delicious club sandwich: whole wheat bread, bacon, tomato, ham, mayo....just perfect.

All personnel that I encountered were pleasant and friendly.

I dinged one star on the "atmosphere" because the patrons were quite animated, having a good time. Me, I like it quiet. But, no big deal though.

I highly recommend and I'll be back next time I'm in Kingsport!

10/10! Came here for me and my twin’s birthday lunch, and it did not disappoint! I’ve always heard such good things about this place, and given that it was a cooler rainy day, I knew I needed to come and try the grilled cheese and tomato soup specifically! Pricing isn’t bad, and the menu has a wide variety of selections to choose from. Once I saw the menu, I also wanted the quiche! Thankfully, they have pick 3 and pick 4 options, which allowed me to get all three things! The others in my family ended up doing the same thing, with different food selections and none had any complaints at all! I ate everything on my plate, and it was delicious! The entire meal was perfect for the day and it held all of us over for a while! The waitstaff was extremely sweet and wished my sister and I a happy birthday. Our food came out in a timely manner and we didn’t wait too long for anything at all! Located right in downtown Kingsport, Crumb is next door, as well as some other boutique shops, which make for a great little day downtown when it’s warmer! We’ll definitely be back for more!

Treated my aunt for a birthday lunch last week as this is one of her and my mom’s favorite places. It was delicious as always. Their cranberry chicken quiche is amazing and their Reuben sandwich was loaded with meat and delicious. You can’t go wrong with this cafe.

Highly recommend the pick 3! I got the tomato soup, grilled cheese, and chicken fajita quiche. It was so filling and great for a rainy day!

The staff was so welcoming and helpful and the food was delicious! We’ll definitely be back when we’re in the area!

I love this place! Its a cute atmosphere, and never long to wait on your food it's perfect for a quick lunch. They have several vegetarian options and everything I have ate here is so delicious! Would give more than 5 stars if I could!

Oh my goodness my chicken salad croissant was so good. The brocolli cheese soup was absolutely delicious. My husband got the chili and it was the best either of us has ever had. Did not need crackers at all. My iced tea was so refreshing and wonderful. It appears that they use a small muffin like a garnish on all the plates. Eat the muffin it is amazingly yummy. The decor was so fun. Love this place we will definately be back and will bring friends with us. So so very good

The kitchen sink salad was filled with antioxidant rich foods and tossed in a well balanced pomegranate dressing. Tuna salad was prepared well and flavorful. Coffee was delicious. Great local spot.

The Mustard Seed Cafe is by far my favorite place to eat in Kingsport! Food tastes amazing and is fresh every time. A nice variety of options on their menu. And the customer service is top notch. Highly recommend eating here if you’re in the area or passing through!!

I got the club sandwhich, pasta salad, and a scoop of chicken salad. All three were phenomenal and exceeded my expectations. I've always heard of the "mustard seed" but I have never tried it. Being a resident of Kingsport for 38 years I can firmly say you should try this place out. Definitely a great lunch spot. There was plenty of seating and the place was clean. The bathroom was also clean.

I love this place! The staff is so friendly you feel like family. The reuben was soooo delicious and as someone from NY , I definitely approve. I went there 2 days in a row for lunch and this is a must-go everytime I'm in Kingsport. The quiche also adds such a different touch because it's not served many places-- especially paired with a ton of options for sandwiches, dessert, and coffee. I think the portions for under $15 are more than worth it. Spectacular place !

Excellent food. My spinach salad was one of the best Ive ever had. Everyone was super nice and atmosphere was great.

We were passing through the area and wanted to find a nice local lunch place (we avoid chains when we can). Saw this establishment well recommended by fellow Yelpers and our experience definitely agreed with the consensus. I had "Julie's Club" and my wife had "Connie's Sandwich." Both were excellent. Generous portions. The potato salad side was outstanding too! Service was perhaps a little slow by some people's expectations, but we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. There's also a big sign above the kitchen entrance reminding patrons that everything is fresh and made to order. Bottom line? This place is worth a visit.

Quaint cafe in downtown Kingsport(free parking, handicap accessible) where food is fabulous, waitresses are attentive, and atmosphere is relaxing. Quiche with kitchen sink salad was filling on tummy and thrilling on taste buds.

The spinach quiche was really good, the BLT and chicken sald was great! Moms tomato soup was good too and the service was nice a friendly. Great place. Will be back..

Cute local cafe with fresh food. Service is also attentive and friendly. Everything I’ve had has been tasty but the Mexican style quiche is my favorite!

A cozy little place for soup, salad and sandwiches. We looked at the reviews and decided to give tht Mustard Seed Cafe a try for lunch while passing through. Despite the place being rather busy the service was prompt and friendly and the food came out quickly. I had the Reuben sandwich, a bowl of chili and a slice of the cranberry chicken quiche. Unfortunately the chili came out cold, but this shortcoming was quickly addressed by our waitress. The kraut on the Reuben is definitely on the sour side. Not my favorite, but still delicious. The cranberry chicken quiche is a "must have" item for sure. Overall I would give this a 4.5 star rating, but since half stars are not available why not male it 5...
